I have carpet too, I think it’s cozier and definitely more comfortable to walk on (barefoot). But I think I will get hard floors too in the future. It’s way easier to clean and much more hygienic.

I moved into a new apartment once. There was a $250 cleaning fee as part of the move in deposit. After a week, I started vacuuming the carpet. And immediately stopped. I had the landlord come over. He asked what was the problem? I asked what color is this carpet? He answered “brown”. I brought the vacuum over, turned it on, pushed and pulled it across the carpet twice. Revealing a very light tan carpet. I said “I would like the cleaning deposit back.” He refused but agreed to pay the home cleaner of my choice to clean the apartment. Turned out that once it was properly cleaned, the apartment was really nice. I moved out at the end of lease though. The guy wanted to raise my rent almost 50%.

I am exactly, exactly like Joey in this scene. I dont even notice things like that. 2 weeks ago a new neighbor asked me to look around my compound and in front of my house for any difference. I told her i didn't notice anything and she was schocked. Apparently she had cleared up the area so well. Removed the grass and weeds and washed the pavement. Once she said it, it clicked and i had the exact reaction. The grasss around ny door had cleared. I can be so absent minded. She was a bit offended cause she felt really proud of herself and was looking forward to my reaction, just for me to walk pass her with a greeting once i got back.
