This scene is very important to understand the major difference between the writing of Monica / Chandler and Ross / Rachel. Neither of the two couples were actually soulmates or "made for each other" but the first one faced trouble early on (Chandler’s fear of commitment) overcame it and had to work really hard to build the relationship while the other one were great at the start but fell apart at the first sign of trouble (Ross’ jealousy towards Mark because of his trauma from his divorce with Carol and the fear of losing Rachel the same way)
