I have commented before, but on a positive note, I am glad she shared this. She is correct in saying healing the past helps you move forward. I respect her bravery for bringing her story to light with her documentary this year. I feel her pain of the trauma she endured. She was young and school girl behavior can be forgiven if not condoned. We all have experienced pain from our past for which we are ashamed. Her message invites us to be self forgiving and heal to take a positive step forward. Having a history of connection with public figures, my mixed emotions are largely due to dealing with the nonsense of groupies, and bullies and advantage takers who think that behavior is ok due to celebrity status. It drains you and wears on you like salt to a wound. People's private life should be respectful no matter who you are or how you are connected in this world. She got a taste of the dark side of celebrity, not the fairy tale lies of being the other woman, or a groupie.

I think it is not entirely fair to think of Monica as a helpless, hapless intern that was seduced by a powerful man. She clearly shows and talks about her own agency, her making a move and telling him she was interested. She also says that at the time she didn’t feel guilty about hurting Hillary. Now she talks widely about guilt and pain but I think it is mostly about her pain and shame and what was done to HER and not what Hillary Clinton as the damaged party had to endure because of her and Bill Clinton. I can’t even imagine Hillary having to endure this interview in 99 with Monica smirking and telling of her encounters. In all her guilt she always talks about herself and what was done to the president and the country - not Hillary or Chelsea. When pushed she says briefly she feels bad but it does not measure up to talking about HER pain. She went on a book tour in 99 - doing what Linda did- exploiting the story for her own gain even though I understand the notion that finding a job and making an income quietly must have been difficult for her at the time. This is a kind interviewer, I have seen other such as the one on the Today show that I found very difficult to watch where she was almost solely blamed for the affair. She no doubt went through a difficult time and was treated unfairly but I do not agree with the complete victim narrative. You need to take responsibility for your actions and deal with the consequences.

She should be a politician. Looking at the comments she has managed to convince so many how decent she is. Not forgetting the fact that everything she did was wrong and the topic is a sordid affair based on lust with opportunistic moments for one sided cheap thrills, not a loving relationship like she delusionally believes.
