This is the 1st song I have listened to in 2024. It's absolutely beautiful, I have tears streaming down my face. It might have something to do with the fact that my son is a ice (meth) addict who thankfully is in recovery and on the right track atm. Then there's my daughter who has 3 young children of her own and goes out all weekend, every weekend and some nights through the week as well. The children are not left on their own but are with their dad. She is missing out on them growing up and they have an absent mother 😢

I hate that I’m 2 years late to this song and the talent that is Monica Martin. I’m shocked she hasn’t become more mainstream yet. Yes music, like all art, is subjective, but there are VERY few mainstream musical artists that have put out a song with this much lyrical depth in the past few years. We need more well written songs like this. Absolutely beautiful!

Imagine having the most expressive male singer and producer of our time as your personal backing singer. Thats how good Monica and this song is! I also love how you can hear little influences of the people she met on her way, like I can always hear a little Theo and Khushi in her Songwriting/singing (Not saying that its unoriginal!!!)

I commit myself to sabotage See, I can get what I want Then I'll make it hard to hold on Convince myself that I'm without a god A spiritual fraud who got lost in her own sad song We were talking out back by the garbage cans About dreams that we had and the five-year plan Missing the mark, I'm laughing in the dark 'Cause, after all, no one's in control Go easy, kid, it's only rock and roll Pledge allegiance to some sanity It comes into view for a moment or two, then it leaves me Apologizing to the neighborhood And all the calls will be saved, look I wanna be brave if I could I was talking out back with an empty man, he said "'Member times that we had before you got in that van Left me in the dark, alone in the park?" 'Cause, after all, no one's in control Go easy, kid, it's only rock and roll Cut through the smoke There's no secret special code No deeper hidden wisdom Just accept we'll never know We were talking out back by the garbage cans About dreams that we had and the five-year plan Missing the mark, we're laughing in the dark 'Cause after all, no one's in control Go easy, kid In twenty years, kid, you're gonna look back And wish you grabbed it all by the throat And said, "Fuck it, it's only rock and roll" Ooh-ooh
