I own a candle business and truly from jan- aug I literally want to quit so bad. but after a decade I realize it's just a part of the struggle. My dad told me, "You can't have a pretty garden without a little rain." and I hope you think about that too if things feel overwhelming. I’m in a rut. I recently had my first major flop at a market where I didn’t even make enough to cover booth fee and I was like “well I’m just gonna sell everything for cheap to get rid of inventory and be done” and then I thought to myself “how would I feel if my kids gave up after one bad experience?” So I took some time off and rededicated myself.

It definitely an emotional rollercoaster running a small business. I have yet to make any sales at vendor shows but I still keep going. Eventually people will be used to seeing me and my art and form a connection. I just have to be patient and stay strong. Don’t give up everyone! Take time to reflect and enjoy your creativity

I don't have a small business (yet, hehe) but I take freelance gigs, and when I feel overwhelmed or burned out, I slowdown, do one of my favorite things which is walk around the city, see art, just let my brain wonder... Going to the park and just lay on the grass helps too!!! Happy to see how you take care of your mental health!! 🎉

This resonates with me ….i has an Etsy shop and let it close down 😢 I had almost 1k orders over the course of 1 yr and I literally gave up. Not my finest moment but I’m getting back into it . I am was feeling the same way and I have actually slow down these past several weeks on my crochet business just for my mental health. I also work part time at the hospital so everything lately relating to work and family has been stressful. So yes time away is so needed. I totally recommend the Finch App for help with 1) realizing what all you do in a day 2) getting smaller goals done (like taking a walk, drinking enough water, etc.), and 3) Giving yourself longer goals in specific goals

Hello Monica, First and foremost, I want to thank you for posting your pop up adventures and your vlogs of your daily life. I can say that a few years back, I had a business which I was super excited to do. I'm a very crafty person, very artistic person who loves to try and do new things. I had opened up a business that had body care items like bath bombs and other things. I had everything set and was uber excited about how things would turn out. Well, eventually, it didn't turn out as good as I had hoped. I did get a few sales, not a lot but it was so frustrating that I wasn't getting many or any sales while others who had just started out, was getting more than me.....wayyyyy more. To say I was frustrated would have been the understatement of the decade and so after a while, I decided to stop shop and take a break. Well, I can say that right now I have decided to reopen it back...it's taking me sometime because as I've been on break from this, I've learned a lot from the KZbin videos of others who have started businesses and stuff. Right now, I've gotten all of my ideas ready for whenever I get my shop up and running but I can tell you that I can understand how you feel....often times you have to step back and do for you. Again, keep up the good work Monica....I really enjoy watching as you go through everything that you've been going through with your business as well as yourself.

Great lesson I learned: Do you feel like quitting on the days when everything is working in your favor and going well? If the answer is yes, go ahead - quit. But if the answer is no, push through! It’s challenging because the feeling of instant gratification is satisfying; however, it is fleeting. You’re building something meant to last and staying true to yourself❤️ So it may take a bit more time.

15:13-15:19: One small component of my self-care is a 60-second eye care break. I experience dry eyes and use eye drops. One optometrist I watched online suggested that we close our eyes for about 60 seconds after dispensing drops into both eyes. That way, we don't blink out the solution. At first, sitting still for the full 60 seconds was hard, but now, I look forward to those brief, soothing moments.
