About a year ago I listened to a Silver 200 and a Silver 300 through the same NAD power amp. I thought the Silver 200's had better mids and highs than the silver 300, which was really surprising since it's comparing a 2.5 way to a 3 way speaker. I am really sensitive to sibilant highs, but I do like to hear good high frequency detail, and i though the tweeters in the silver series sounded better than the ribbon tweeters in the Monitor Audio gold series. If the system is used for audio playback with an accurate subwoofer I would definitely choose the silver 200. Maybe part of the reason I liked the 200's was the fact that the effective midrange driver is larger than the 300.

Yess agree.. i use the 200 with a sub.. midrange f.a. vocals are realy good. I think the best of the three. Base is nice bit can use a sub. Allso driven with a NAD here.

I listened to the Silver 200's and Silver 300's in different areas of the hifi store connected to different equipment, and I also thought that the mids and highs were more clear and enjoyable on the Silver 200's. Even though this is a KZbin video, I could still sort-of hear the contrasts that I remembered in the store. I actually was there to buy Silver 50's and a center channel for a smaller room of the home, with a small servo driven Rythmik sub, which I bought for teh master bedroom and I am happy with them. That combination is pretty fantastic for the money, so I think I'm going to go with the Silver 200's and another Rythmik servo driven sub to handle the low end. I'll dial the subwoofer in manually and by ear and it will probably take me a few days.

@Jerald McConnell I feel the same way too! I was on the Silver 200s & I have the CambridgeAudio 851W+N & so it’s a 2.1 setup with the SW-12. I recently went down to audition the 300s & Gold 200s to see it it’s worth the upgrade to a 3 way or a MPD transducer tweeter. I really wasn’t blown away...in fact I left the dealers with newfound love for my Silver200s.

I agree. I've just found this demo and it's very interesting as I've recently been looking at the Silver range as a purchase option. The 200 and 300 sound far too bright to me and have no 'body' in the sound. The Silver 6 has far more warmth and body in the mid ranges but the vocal still sounds fine (to my ears). I can tell that the 6 rolls off the vocal high frequencies but I don't mind that. I find a lot of high frequency detail irritating after a while. I think I favour the mid frequencies and upper bass as I like the depth and weight it brings to the music, so I guess it's 'warm' speakers for me! As a comparison I'm also interested in the Bronze 6 as it's extremely cheap at the moment because the Bronze range 6th gen is out next month and the 6 will be replaced with the Bronze 500. Perhaps I'll find that I prefer the 6 to the 500.

RX6 sounds the best I think. reason is RX6's midrange is produced with 6" driver, whereas in silver 100 it is with 5.25" driver and in silver 300 it is with 4" driver. Therefore midrange is the richest among them. I have 2012 RX6 and happy with it..

The 6 and the 200 are much more balanced, with a fuller and richer midrange, which is thin and recessed on the 300. However, the 200 has better highs and so sounds livelier and more reaslistic to me than the 6.

I've listened to this on a stereo (after having previously listened on a decent pair of headphones) and realised that the 300s are in fact quieter in this recording. I'm wondering if they are a little harder to drive, and the amp in use is not the best fit for it, or simply the difference in volume was not accounted for during the playback. Just a thought. I own the 6s.

I am listening to this thorough Altec Lansing computer speakers....my comp speakers sound really good....my conclusion...lol! Anyway hearing your comparisons I don't detect too much of a difference, a good thing, it may show how well engineered MA speakers are. I have gone from Klipsch RF82, Klipsch RF 82ii, to Klipsch RF 7ii, now Sonus Faber Venere. Of all my speakers the Klipsch had a kick that brought you right into the music. The Faber's have very warm sound and certainly don't have the bite or gravitas of the Klipsch even the cheaper RF82ii's.

I have the Silver 6 and I´m considering to buy the Tannoy XT8F or XT6F. My room is about 30square meters and i find the Silver 6 to lack a bit of bass in my room. Do you think I should try the XT8F or XT6F? Thanks

The Silver 6 sounds the best, the treble isn't as forward which is a good thing and they just sound more balanced and natural.

Przez wiele ostatnich lat miałem różne modele Bronze, a dzisiaj pierwszy raz kupiłem sobie RX1 i jestem zachwycony. Od razu zostałem wielkim miłośnikiem Silverów. :) Bronze idą w odstawkę, choć nowe 500 bardzo fajnie radzą sobie w ciężkiej, metalowo-rockowej muzyce i w sumie tylko to robią lepiej od Silverów, lepiej hałasują. :)

Monitor audio focus to much on upper mids and highs, they dominate to much for me, mite sound good for a quick sound test in a shop, but to live with they sound harsh, never enough base so i always need to turn them up and the upper mids and highs still dominate the sound to much, if thats your thing then great, i like more lower mids than upper mids with abit more base thump.

Yeah, the best we can do is listen for comparative audio differences in the recording, even with playback on pretty good audio equipment. A good pair of headphones would help on a PC though.
