What we consumers want is at least 5 years warranty for OLED panels , covering burn-ins. When we consumers are paying top dollars for high-end monitors, at least safeguard our investment with a longer warranty
@johnboylan3832
@johnboylan3832 Ай бұрын
That's one way for the companies to lose money, yeah.
@deepbludreams
@deepbludreams Ай бұрын
The thing is the reason the burn in warranty is 3 year is because OLEDs under normal usage don't even burn in during this period unless you're really stupid about it. Samsung makes all the QD OLED panels and offers no burn in warranty on their own, hand selected panels because they know the arbitrary 3 year the industry offers is so early in the lifespan of a OLED's life that it's not worth being worried about and any more than that is really excessive warranty lifespan on a consumer display product of any kind. If you want to see expensive OLEDs, many of the 77+ Inch current generation OLED TVs are 5000+ dollars and are blasting way past 1500 and 2000 nits, none of them have a warranty of any kind relating to burn in, because the TV people don't see burn in before like 7 years or something stupid if you don't use the thing as a fixed display.

So glad you guys are still doing Monitors unboxed. In the market at the moment for a new monitor at the moment but I'm stuck. I want to get a 4K monitor, no real budget in mind but one of my priorities is how the monitor is for eyestrain. I've been stuck with ASUS for a while because their blue light filter option in the menu seems the best but I can never find anything regarding other brands blue light filter options. Also I hate glossy monitors which seems to be the trend for the high end models now. I'm also in Australia with you lads and I do feel we don't quite get the same lineup that the states do. Was wondering whether you had any insight on the eye strain portion? Thanks Tim.

I used 24" for so many years in competitive FPS games. The advantage is your eyes can see the entire gamespace without moving your head. For larger panels, you have to keep pushing the monitor further from you, and your eyes act differently looking at something from a further distance than something closer to you, even though it is a computer screen. Most people have better eyesight at things that are closer to them. I've since upgraded to the 27" 240Hz WOLED from LG. I'm loving it!

the problem is we already pretty much hit the zenith of mini-led tech, the thousands of zones backlight takes up huge computational power and causes HDR latency problems, this only gets worse the more zones you add, a 10,000 zone mini LED unit is possible and it could have 5000 nits HDR and 2000 nits SDR but the processing delay behind the panel lighting would be so slow that it's almost like having another monitor trying to render something but in lower resolution

That being said, 360hz isnt super necessary to me either, so im tempted to wait for the 240hz version now just so I can have DSC off. What would people say if I bought the 360hz and limited it to 240 by turning DSC off XD

MIG MAG 271QPX E2 is a very good monitor, I hope it will be possible to flash the monitor in this monitor, is there a USB connector? ROG Matrix OLED XG27AQDMG is also attractive, but I do not know if it has pixel offset technologies - protection against burnout?

I really appreciate 1800r and even 2100r large monitors. If Samsung wasn't so bent on 800r I'd already own two of them. For screens 27" and under I still greatly prefer flat panels.

Still enjoy these monitor news/seeing the tech and stuff even if it will be a couple more years before I maybe upgrade. I got a 32inch Samsung Odyssey 7 1440p240hz monitor for $500 a couple years ago and it doesn't make sense to upgrade yet

I had a G7 too but I was eager to upgrade it. Mostly afraid of the screen detachment issue. Jumped on a LG OLED as soon as it was sort of available on my country, and then a QD-OLED right after. The motion clarity gains man. It is insane how crisp the image is compared to LCD, at least to my eyes. And the G7 was no slouch by any means, it was very decent on motion clarity performance.
@willwunsche6940
@willwunsche6940 Ай бұрын
@@band0lero Interesting. Yeah I think I originally bought the G7 at the time due to it being one of the best 1440p240hz motion clarity monitors I could get at the time. Also, screen detachment issue...? I haven't heard of that, sounds bad I will have to look it up. I have my G7 on a monitor arm currently but I think that's not what you are talking about
@band0lero
@band0lero Ай бұрын
@@willwunsche6940 I was not sure how to translate the issue, but essentially there has been reports on G7 monitors where the display simply peels itself off from the middle. Some speculate that it's because of a warmer temperature in some countries, such as Brazil, where I live. I had two of my three friends that bought this monitor (G7 27") have this issue, they both got screen replacements, but at the point they had the issue, my 1 year warranty was already gone. Still, got through 3 years with no apparent issues, but that problem was always on the back of my mind. But yeah, regarding motion clarity, OLED is on another level. Not quite as good as strobing, but also very good in a different way. Not the perfect panel still, unfortunetly, but IMO it's the best so far.

I just bought the MAG 321UPX QD-OLED and I had a sneaking suspicion that MSI would find a way to add firmware updates to it so I was comfortable with buying it instead of the MPG variant. But im hoping my model is the one with the chip needed to support it.

@monitorsunboxed @11:10 did they say how this would *NOT* be breaking HDCP between the video card and monitor? i cant see how this is going to be a feature for long with the way DMCA enforcement lead to HDCP between those 2 end points [video card and monitor]. Now we have an A.I. in the middle and no one is screaming about broken copy protection.

I know what I want from my next monitor. 5K2K 45-50" 144hz+, OLED or Mini LED, curved but not as much as 800R. Holding out until someone does something like this. Was hoping to see something near this, but looks like I am still waiting. I like my existing monitor, so no real hurry.

The 360Hz FO27Q3 has the same fuzzy image issue as this LG 32GS95UE, and it's limited to 240hz with VRR in the 24'' mode. The ASUS PG27AQN 360Hz IPS doesn't have that fuzzy image issue since it runs at 2368x1332 instead of 1080p, but that mode has serious reliability issues. A lot of games like Fortnite, Apex, and Valorant don't work in that mode. Basically, these dual-mode monitors are a massive scam.
