I sued to watch this show with my mom about 10 or so years ago, was obsessed with it, what i really like about Monk is that in a good amount of episodes if you pay really close attention you can figure out who the murderer is, not like a lot of detective shows where the main character pulls some bullshit that only he could see because "he's just the best" and it being something the audience was never shown. Monk really rewards attentive viewers, like in the game show episode the answer is laid out in plain sight the whole episode, and we the viewers and Monk have an equal chance to figure it out, or in the garbage strike episode where we find out that the killer smoked a certain kind of cigarette, and earlier in the episode we see him with a case of said cigarettes for a split second, it was hard to notice sure but it was there, we were shown the same things Monk was so when he does end up solving the case it's very believable and that's what made the writing so good in my opinion

I think it is always very obvious who the murderer is! Sometimes you know in 10min, sometimes a bit longer, but you always know before Monk says his iconic phrase: "Here's What Happened"

This is just one of the reasons we really needed Sharon's to either stay or come back! They should have just paid her the money she asked for and all the episodes of Monk would have been even better! Sharon's just made it all much more interesting to me, everything she said was smart! It just wasn' t the same with Natalie...I love the show's were Sharona even more!
