Great video! I’m doing a build based on a monk from Chinese Mythology, needed them to have some supernatural powers. Monk/Wizard multi-class allowed them to have similar powers as the myth; minor illusion, fog cloud, etc. The update gave background origins a feat, chose sage and got two cantrips and another spell, plus it allows me to cast based on Wisdom.

If you're willing to go 6 levels deep in bladesinger, the bladesinger extra attack allows you to replace one of the attacks with a cantrip. Its true you have to invest 4 more levels of wizard than the build really needs and it makes the monk 5th level extra attack wasted. But that's a regular sword attack, a blade cantrip attack, and flurry of blows every single turn. Every. Single. Turn. This also pairs nicely with Way of the Four Elements. Fangs of the Fire Snake, Fist of Four Thunders, Fist of Unbroken Air, and Water Whip all work great thematically with a naturally arcane melee character.

I know it's kind of setting dependant but if you use this build in Theros as a Centaur your base movement speed will be much higher. I'm doing a monk centaur right now and my movement speed is 60ft. I don't even have mobile yet but after watching this video I'm absolutely going to take it on my next level

... Perhaps another potential race could be Variant Human or Costum Linage, Warcaster? If the DM allow it, you can ast spells while having your henads full, if I remember it correctly.

Ok... Hear me out. Aaracockra (Falcon flavored) monk that uses a dive bomb punch to do a bunch of fire damage like an actual Peregrine Falcon.
