Monkey bars are also fun, which distracts you from how much you're working your body.

What a video!😎 "Chains of muscles" makes so much sense given our bodies spent 100s of 1000s of years evolving them with similar movements. And your a savage at flying monkeys bro!

I realized today that doing the side swing has given me a bit of an overuse injury in my left elbow. Feels similar to golfers elbow. I think it's from the torque while the joint is locked during the swing right after reaching with the left hand. I'll be rotating more variations into my daily training.
@rikkinetic
@rikkinetic 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah it’s a good idea to rotate the variations! Also a general, well balanced strength training plan can help to ward off overuse injuries Do you change your lead hand as well?
@MonkeyBarsEveryday

@@rikkinetic yep, I try to keep it balanced right to left leading. for sure about strength training. bodybuilding is actually my primary thing and I do monkey bars at the end of each training session for additional work/volume and fun! it's been progressing well and helps develop all sorts of muscles and skills. only wish my tendons could keep up with my enthusiasm 😂

Love the videos , I've only recently started using the monkey bars been doing body weight excercises for the last few months , the skin on my hands gets very sore, is it best to persevere with my hands or get gloves of some sort to try and go longer Do you recommend doing these excercises everyday or taking rest days.
@rikkinetic

Happy to hear it! Great question! Yes definitely persevere with the hands as they will condition to it and start to toughen although you’ll certainly want to let them recover so yes, maybe not every day at least in the beginning, rest your hands and your body when they feel they need it! Having said that you could wear gloves although I feel that shouldn’t be a long term solution. I hope this helps

I can only imagine that all of the people that say this is a great video, can already do most of the things shown here. The average person, the average person who works out at the gym, could hardly do any of this. Sorry, but just trying to let go of the bar with one hand is almost impossible. How about a video showing the average gym goer where to start: realistically. kg

Hi Kevin 😊 thanks for your comment, it’s a great suggestion. I have done many videos on bodyweight training and monkey bar workouts and I have tried to cover a variety of fitness levels over those videos. I hope you’d be able to find one that suits you and where you are currently at. It’s a process and at some stage maybe this video will be more useful to you! As it is though, I will look into doing another video in the near future that may be better suited to beginners. Thanks again for your helpful suggestion! All comments help me to improve the channel so I’m grateful to that 😊 we’re all learning

I came here after trying it out today first time ever in life. I don't think the basic movement of swinging on one arm to catch the bar with the other, is very hard. But you need a bit of trust in your body. It was very hard when I was thinking about it. Just swing naturally.. And it comes to you through instinct, so naturally that I was a bit stupefied. I always thought this was harder than pull ups but this is easier. I don't do gym but I swim. Was looking for some exercise to strengthen the core and lats and shoulders for my swims. I guess I don't have to look further than this. It combines so many different exercises. And its fun!!!

I was a monkey bar kid. Really good at it in grade school then it seemed silly growing on up with highschool football and a weight room. Now I'm 61 and on a back in shape journey. I'm starting with a "dead hang" for grip strength. I'm up to 75 seconds on that. Start where you are and move forward I say. Humility requires me to set the bar low enough to accomplish then gently raise it so to speak. Good luck.
