What do you do for hand care/maintenance to avoid blisters and ripping and build skin strength? I heard you say that you shave your calluses. Do you use hand cream? Is there a point your hands reach when they will not tear anymore?
@rikkinetic
@rikkinetic Күн бұрын
I don’t use hand cream. I sometimes will shave down or file down calluses if they get bad. It’s more about managing the work load I would say! Yes my hands rarely rip now but they do occasionally blister. If it’s hot and the bars are sticky I may just do less sets so like I said, it’s as much about being aware of when your hands have had enough as it is anything else ✋🏼🤚🏼

@@rikkinetic Thank you. I appreciate your feedback and your videos. Trying to keep my shoulders healthy in response to a labrum, and possibly a rotator cuff, tear. Hanging, mobility, pull ups and general strengthening of shoulders have helped immensely. I see swinging on monkey bars as possibly contributing to improvement. Hard to find adult monkey bars in my part of the US. You seem to have access to many adult set ups. Interested in what public support looks like that leads municipality to invest.

Thanks for another Great video. Injuries are a part of it. But I would say an ugly part. Resting and taking time off is very frustrating and takes a lot of patience. Hello Rikki and Johan! I have T1D and I've doing my own research on how to cure T1D naturally because I'm convinced this is something that can be cured. I heard a second hand experience of a T1D who was able to get cured and stop using insulin and I've also studied the case of Dan Darkes who seems to be the first T1D in the world to be cured. I've been working on fixing my T1D for more than 6 months and I've discovered very interesting things and done some progress, for example I was able to fully eliminate the long acting insulin (Tresiba) but I still need novo rapid otherwise my BG will skyrocket. When I told my nurse that I was not using long acting insulin at all she told me that was impossible. I've been 4 months at least without using any long acting insulin and I'm still alive and well, now I need to figure out how to get rid of the short acting one. One big challenge that I have is that my BG spikes massively in the morning, which forces me to inject a lot of insulin in the morning, this is a very strange phenomenon that I did not use to have 5 years ago but I'm still investigating it. I've been training in the gym for over 4 years but I began to focus on cardio recently as Dan Darkes did and cardio has a massive effect on blood glucouse levels, my theory is that cardio forces your pancreas to start working but I just began to do regular cardio a few weeks ago, a combination of exercise and diet seems to be key because I've ruined my progress as soon as I eat large amounts of carbs per day bringing me many steps back. I'd love to get in contact with Johan. I also wish there was more research about this, but something I'm convinced about is that this is an issue that only us people with T1D can research, because doctors have 0 interest on solving this problem so it's only up to us to find the truth.
@rikkinetic
@rikkinetic 12 күн бұрын
Thank you 🙏🏼 That’s very interesting and it’ll be interesting to know how you continue to progress! Dan Darkes case is an interesting one too as I believe now he’s recently had to inject again?! Johan has found the combination of weights and cardio has worked well for him and he’s noticed that when he doesn’t weight train he’s blood sugar levels generally tend to rise! Johan has an instagram account where he posts regularly and it’s possible to get an idea of his routine from there.
@sanher20
@sanher20 12 күн бұрын
@@rikkinetic I wasn't aware of Dan's situation but I just checked his IG and yes, he has T1D again. The most interesting part is that so far we know of a few cases of people who have been cured using exercise, but we don't knows what causes T1D yet. It is possible that the same thing that triggered T1D in Dan's case the first time cause his T1D again. I'm wondering if Johan's BG levels rising do really mean that his T1D is coming back because T1D doesn't seem to be a black or white condition, doctors sometimes find people with slightly increased levels of BG and diagnosed them as having prediabetes, it looks like certain conditions can cause BG levels to rise which eventually ends up with the person having either T1D or T2D. We also don't really know if healthy human beings are always in the 3.9 to 7.7 since people without diabetes are almost never tested for blood sugar and I don't think if there's a lot of research on this issue. I'll try to get in contact with Johan in Instagram. I'll also post updates regarding any interesting findings that I make. I also wanted to ask if Johan had issues with his BG levels in the morning, some people experience a massive spike of BG before waking up and that has been a difficult issue to fix for me.
@rikkinetic
@rikkinetic 12 күн бұрын
@@sanher20 I think Johan’s levels are pretty steady if he keeps his routine up but by all means check with him. And yes that’s a very good point, not many non diabetics would test their blood sugar levels so it’s difficult to compare without “a control group”
@sanher20
@sanher20 10 күн бұрын
@@rikkinetic Another very interesting thing I would like to research are possible things that could have triggered T1D to begin with. There's no research on this topic since everyone assumes that T1D is an auto immune disease that "just happens". In my case I got T1D a few years after getting a surgery for sinusitis which also ended up giving me a deviated septum and some seemingly insignificant breathing issues. Do you know if Johan had any surgeries or had any breathing issues shortly before getting T1D? I'm suspecting some of these things could be linked. I'm also sorry for asking very specific questions but if we can get some clues regarding what causes it in the first place that would be of massive help.

I think your story and fitness journey is inspiring! I'm assuming your body is now producing insulin again somehow since you are no longer injecting, as it is necessary to live. What the doctor said about being somewhere in between type 1 and type 2 was very interesting. I do not think that your average type 1 diabetic with zero insulin production would begin producing insulin again from the fitness and diet you exhibited. Your story is very unique and I'm happy for you, but it is irresponsible to claim a cure for type 1 diabetics. Injecting insulin as a type one diabetic is not something bad, it necessary to stay alive, and displaying coming off insulin as the final goal for a type one diabetic is unrealistic and dangerous. Again I'm happy for your transformation and I think it's great that this worked for you, but this solution will not work for every type one diabetic and that needs to be made clear.

There’s probably a number of reasons for this! 1) naturally adopted it because it’s currently more comfortable for my arm 2) the techniques I’m doing. The full swing I’d be more likely to wrap my hand around. 3) how close the bars are to each other. I’d have to go over the bar and down under it within a shorter space
