I got lucky on a drop. MEFP - SMF. Just absolutely flawless in every way. Never owned an aluminum handle so it created a moment of pause, glad I pulled the trigger. 1st Strider - carbidized lock face (gotta be) - not a lick of stick. All black. 3 weeks later grabbed it's little brother(SnG) - I basically did these two buys just to see. Just to see if Strider's sell because of marketing (word of mouth etc) or simply fan bois... CTS-XHP on the SnG...SMF is 3V. So that is two steels I've never put through the paces. After 1 year, maybe 2 max I will be able to tell if they are what they're cracked up to be because these will be the only 2 pieces I'll use and I've watched a framelock / liner lock and button luck not pass my tests. Actually the ONLY 2 knives I have never had a problem with is the DPx HEST f/T3 and it's fixed blade brethren. By tests I mean simply whittling, I like to make walking sticks and staffs and some other things but just do it with a folder, makes it more challenging that way.

I think a frag pattern Emerson or socom elite would be sick!

It would, (don't see it ever happening from Ernie's end IMO) - I'm gonna have the Super7 and its little brother sent back to him. **THAT** IMO is where you can separate Company's Ethics and TRULY see what they're all about. I've done a tad of 9 yrs. of cutting with those two Emersons - this will either be a learning experience or I'll know if they're for real. Should be interesting either way. I wished Mick or Strider preferably would do a chisel grind folder :O) - heck a fixed blade of true cutting edge between four to six inches would be perfect/tanto tip. I've found that to be my favorite grind and I have used them all (all think). :O)

Monkey edges has a very low stock quantity and very rarely get knee stuff in. I always look and they can go months before anything new comes in

I know. :O) That was why when I saw Aluminum handle I did a 1 second pause. Ha! At least I got rid of six knives for two.

Any interest in selling the Sng ?

I've thought about it, I carry it so often that it would have to be a ridiculous amount of money for me to consider parting with it.

@@SharpThinkingKnives That is kind of the way I thought about it also, I just want to go through the whole breaking in period, luckily {?} no lock stick on either of them. I can tell the SnG Hybrid g10/CC is newer than the SMF or someone just bought it as a safe queen or saw something they had to have ; so they let go of it. Real curious about the CTS-XHP on little bro and the 3V on big bro. I have heard from two folks on the 3V that "ah Gregg, that's going to rust on you." Then they offer to buy it....LOL. NEVER have I had a knife that rusted on me, not once - well my machete just a tad but that was expected. Those steels should be fine for wood work...would they not? I stropped those 2 Emersons after each using, only had to sharpen the little one 5 times and the Super 7 - twice if I remember correctly; but that is after double digit years of some serious wood cutting.

Looks like i will stick with Civivi and the like. Too pricey.

Most of these can be found for about half of what I mentioned (400ish.) I would rather my money go to usa production than China for moral reasons.

@@SharpThinkingKnives Yep i understand and agree. I'm from Australia and the pricing is even more which leaves little choice but to opt for Chinese products. The Strider SMF is $985 AUD on ebay.
