Your irons look just like mine, Ameri-glo Self Defense Sights or whatever the fuck, one of their sets that don't glow or anything. -- they're raised, front post is skinnier to allow some longer distance acquisition, sort of notched out so you might be able to compensate for some distance. I like 'em, they can easily ring some steel at 60yds consistently so what more could you ask from some iron sights

I just wanted some more features, light capability optics cut and better slide serrations. I settled on the echelon compact. Already got 1k through it and it's been perfect. Point of case no matter if you use a 30 year old glock, or a brand new striker fired handgun they've reached a point where nearly all are great.

I have a Gen 3 G17, and I'm not as accurate with it as I am with some of my other pistols. I've tried dry-firing it, and it has the tiniest tremble right at trigger-break. I believe it's the striker being cocked and released. That said, that's for paper-shooting, and the difference is pretty small. In a self-defense scenario, I don't see that little twitch being a factor. I'd feel perfectly comfortable if I had to use it in a duty-capacity. I couldn’t agree more - my wife and I have been planning to retire since we were married in 1993 - we are 55 years old. She retired last June and I am retiring in February. I sold 6 of my 7 Wilson Combats and my only Nighthawk and have returned to my Glocks, my HK P30’s and getting the new VP9 (not released yet). Are the $2,500 to $5,000 guns better? No. From my experience, you can be slightly slightly slightly more accurate however, my Glock 19 is easily 95% of the performance of my Wilson EDC X9 which I sold but it’s more reliable, less expensive by thousands of dollars and just not worth the lift unless you simply like high end guns or collect. Nothing wrong with a safe full of $5,000 guns but you aren’t getting a 9 times better gun, you are getting .25 times better accuracy and sacrificing ease of reliability. Great video.

@Naki523 I'll preface this with the fact that I am NOT a grandmaster pistol shooter, never competed, but consider myself a slightly better than average pistol shooter. I have been told I'm a little too humble about my pistol skills. That being said, I cannot see an appreciable difference in performance in my experience between $4k Nighthawk or Alchemy custom 1911's, and my slightly above stock Gen 3 G19 with steel sights. The custom 1911's are infinitely "nicer" to shoot as far as trigger, etc, but those impressions do NOT translate to performance on target. I don't clean a plate rack any better with a custom pistol, than I do with a rack grade Glock, Smith & Wesson or Sig polymer frame pistol.

As great as the 1911 platform is, it has quirks in areas that are non negotiable for a pistol designated for self defense aka EDC. People are coming to terms that "competition" performance does not necessarily equate to "duty" reliability in adverse conditions. The Staccato is still so much more fun to shoot at the range than a polymer striker fired pistol, but not the best choice for something that will have to deal with everyday elements of wet, cold, dust and mud. Most standard size modern day striker fired pistols from reputable brands will be good, whether a Walther PDP, M&P, S&W SD VE 2.0, Glock 19 to 34, CZ P10, H&K VE 9 or P30, Fn 509 and the list goes on.

I cut timber for a living. Extremely dirty environment. Colt 1911 Glock sig staccato have been my carries over the last 25 years. In the early days OWB now days IWB. None of them are reliable past the first shot unless I blow them out with an air compressor once a week. The staccato has been just as reliable or more reliable. I have a CS and a C with zero failures. If I was going to name a failure point of the hammer fired gun it would be saw dust buildup in the firing pin area. Saying a staccato is a bad choice because they won’t be as reliable is misinformation. My CS is on its 2 rmr due to water damage from working in the rain. The gun has yet to have a failure of any type.

@Jarrow1317 күн бұрын
@@Jamestreeman First of all I did not say bad choice, I just said it's not the best choice, that meaning compared to other options out there currently. I will also add to the factor that with a 2.5k price tag it's also to consider that if used in self defense, that one has to prepare oneself that it might be taken and never returned. Here in South Africa Staccato is imported under the name STI, and I have a friend who owns a Staccato P and as long as he keeps it clean, it runs like a machine, though as he uses it as a production class pistol, it sees many rounds and he did admit it does not like to be as dirty as his Vektor SP1, Glock 17 Gen 3 or his CZ Shadow 1. His STI aka Stacato, he has had to replace an extractor spring and eventually at around 11k rounds his extractor claw broke (he replaces his recoil springs at around 5k rounds anyway). As much as he loves his Staccato due to it being the most accurate and smoothest shooting pistol in his collection, he himself said that he still prefers to carry his Glock 17 Gen 3 due to weight and that his Glock is what he considers to be the most reliable pistol he has, as he EDC it the majority of time it on his game and cattle farm.
@Jamestreeman17 күн бұрын
@ if your CCW pistol has 10k thru it and you have not done some basic maintenance on it like swap extractor then your asking for failure no matter what the brand. It may go 50 k but I’m not going to find out when I need it. As I mentioned I have to keep all of them clean. Anyone who believes you can go into a filthy environment with your gun not under a flap and it run is mislead. I have a 356 legion with I don’t know how many rds but enough that it’s shot out. Slap wore out. Had to send it back to sig and they rebuilt it. It still ran 100% but u could shake it like rocks in a can. I wouldn’t bet my life on it though. I have a vid of it before it went back

One of the biggest advantages of the Glock, IMO, is that you aren't limited to 9mm. I've been carrying 10mm since 2004, when I got my first G20, a Gen III. I just like that cartridge. A 180 or 200 gr XTP at true Norma spec velocity, with 15 of them in the mag, is a lot of bang for the streets, and all I gotta do when I am hiking is switch mags to 200 gr FMJFP. It carries fine in a Red River Type 1 IWB. I'm not going to lie and say I can't even tell. But I manage. It works.

Someone i know very good sold his newest Staccato and i bought 3 older custom Gen Glock 34. Now he is into reloading Hornady 147s. He can even transform it into a short rifle, that helps with accuracy and cadence. No reddot just a cheap laser and a handguard grip very cheap one.

A full custom CZ75d pcr has a dot, CGW internals, 6lb da 3lb single, awesome pistol, but I have a custom cerakote job and unlike my other pistols it kind of bothers me I’m beating it up. I have about 9k rounds through it with no malfunctions though. Then I edc a 4.6” m&p 2.0 10mm with a tlr1-hl and a acro, or my g5 glock 27 dove dot plate with tritium front and a ceylee cat pro-x. The little g5 27 is a beast. Getting 4-6” groups at speed at 25 yards. Has a great trigger and is super reliable and simple.

I understand all these walter, And canics, And you fill in the blank have better triggers. But I always come back to reliability every damn time. I am getting older, A nineteen ninety nine before the year two thousand I bought a used glock twenty two. All I did was put a new recoil spring in it, And all i've done since then is shoot to snot out of it. It still runs!

It doesn’t need to be a race gun and not super tricked out. So I’m sticking to my Glock 17 Gen 3. 3.5 Connector, Streamlight TLR1-HL, OEM Extended controls, Holosun 508t (planning to switch to RMR or ACRO), 1/4 cowitness sights, and a flat face trigger shoe. I know a lot of people who have gone the "premium" route like Staccato and found themselves pretty dissatisfied. I think that's going to be a trend that continues. It used to be that you spend more money on a pistol there was a direct correlation to increase in quality and enjoyability. There are just so many good pistols you can get at or below $1000 and there are increasingly diminishing returns for every dollar spent after that. I added a few small upgrades to my Gen 5 Glock MOS and despite my other 14 pistols it's still the pistol I use about 80% of the time because it uses the same mags and ammo as my PCC. I live in a bigger city that is less than an hour drive from real back country in every direction and the pistol/PCC combo is perfect for that especially if you're doing something mobile and/or involving a backpack.
@SharpThinkingKnives16 күн бұрын
