I love your technique. I think your soap came out great. I would like coconut lime scent with white, green and maybe a gold or yellow. Maybe made in layers like a pie. Gold/yellow for pie crust-textured, lime center, white top for meringue. Maybe even flake on a shredded soap for the top for coconut. White or golden depending on if you want the coconut to be toasted.

Coconut Lime - white base with bright green (glitter mixed in just the green) swirl. For top...color some base a medium brown - let that harden & then shred that up. Once the top is filled...sprinkle the brown shreds mixed with a little glitter on the top & you could even cut up some paper straws to insert & make it look like a drink!

Dear Dean, I am from India. Tried making soap but comes out with many problems. Would like to know how many ml of fragrance oil should be added to melt and pour and at what temperature? Do I need to add fragrance oil in carrier oil or should be added directly ?
@DeanWilson3 жыл бұрын
Hi, I only add 2% fragrance oil into my soaps. This means if you have 1000 grams of melt and pour base, i would add 20 grams of fragrance oil. The fragrance has to be sink safe but you should never use a carrier oil for melt and pour soap base. Regarding temp, 130F is a good time to add the fragrance or whenever it goes from a solid base to all liquid. Best to ask your supplier because all bases are different.

Great soap! I think this would be really popular with little kids. As for your next project..... I choose the very vanilla. The bar should be an off white/cream color. Then top the bar with a whipped soap “whipped cream” and then a small red ball on top. Then you can sell them as a very vanilla milkshake! You could even stick a paper straw in it to complete the look.

@@DeanWilson Aww that’s very sweet of you! I’m just getting into soaping. So I’ve watched a lot of your videos. I’ve bought the monkey farts fragrance oil to make my granddaughters some soap. I thought they would get a kick out of that!! LOL!! I Love to watch you because you use bright beautiful colors, and you explain things so well. My husband and I are in the process of setting up a soap studio in my basement. Other than a few stainless tables and a microwave. Do you have any recommendations for things I need? I have micas, glitter, hand mixer, mixing bowls, spatulas, a couple of the pitchers with the pointer spout, a few molds, some alcohol, some skewers, tussah silk, activated charcoal, a few fragrance oils, and some essential oils. I know I kneed to buy my oils, and lye. But I didn’t want to buy them too early, and them go rancid on me. I’ve been buying things here and there trying to get ready for this. I have a wonderful husband who is very supportive! He is scared about me using the lye because we are on a septic tank, and he doesn’t want me to kill the good stuff in the tank. If you know what he’s talking about? I’ve watched a ton of videos of yours, and Royalty Soaps. I have one of Sorcery Soaps books. I’m just trying to see what recommendations you have for a rookie soap maker. I have made two trays of melt and poor soap. They turned out ok. I don’t think I put enough fragrance in them because I was scared! LOL! 😁
@DeanWilson3 жыл бұрын
Its really a trial and error thing. The first think I recommend is don't get EVERYTHING up front, grow with the hobby, get your cold process recipe right, test test test. Make sure your 100% happy and ask others to test as well. Take the feedback and improve on your craft. Go slow. I know others that have jumped in, purchased everything then decided it was not for them. They loved making it but could not sell it. Even I struggle with it. For me soap making is not a full time business. Infact most of the time I just recoup my spending because I love making soap. But if you intend on making this a full time gig then get ready for a rocky ride because it's a hard slog. Some soap makers still have not turned a profit after 2 years. Im not trying to turn you away, but handmade soap (small business) is not a money making machine. As for that you need, try 1 recipe/design at a time.
@kimward43963 жыл бұрын
I agree with what you are saying about buying everything. I have got a couple of recipes that I want to try to see which one I like. For example I’d never heard of donkey milk soap before. But I found some and that is the first melt and more we are trying. Because I read read that it was supposed to be good for your skin. We live in Colorado, and during the Winter the heat really dries our skin out. We are originally from Alabama. So our skin is not used to there not being hardly no humidity. LOL! In Alabama the humidity is thick like pea soup! 😂🤣😂🤣 I do understand what you’re saying about maybe not being able to make money at this. But the whole reason I am getting in to this is because the company that made the soap I was using discontinued it. Where do you live? Do they have the soap brand Dial there? Well that’s what I was using, and my favorite scent was Tropical Escape. But one day it just disappeared off the shelf. You know how companies do that little thing they love to do to us! So that’s when I started looking into making my own soap. It really wasn’t to make money. I want to be able to produce the smell I want. And I can make it for gifts. You get the picture. I hope you have a wonderful day!
