Look modern day cinema is somehow comes in political controversy knowingly or unknowingly. This movie is inspired from Hindu mythology so Hindu gods will be portrayed , now if Hindu gods and culture is portrayed in negative manner then Hindu devotees will feel that communist propaganda and if Hindu gods is portrayed in positive manner then communist , Islamist will say this is Hindu nationalism and Hindu extremist propaganda. Although all these critique becomes silent when muslim extremists are glorified in film and jihadi culture gets promoted . In India all communist hate Hindus and in west all communist hate Christian because only these two are tolerant .

Not sure I'll ever get over Dev chopping off his ex-boss's thumb with the edge of a serving tray, but it was an amazing movie and cinematic experience. Thank goodness for Peele rescuing that movie. Netflix has absolutely no spine - they weaseled out because they are afraid of Modi (see Hasan Minhaj's 'Patriot Act' - he got the deep six for the exact same reason).

By the way, ive got a video on Hindutva and the fascist movement in India on my channel if youd like an intro and context. Its more important now than ever. Hindu nationalism is predominantly an upper caste movement that actively preys on the fears and divisions within society. Its essentially a small privileged section of society who occupy most positions of power, and many of those families who even worked with the british in the name of capital at the detriment of the marginalized. The divide and rule politics used by the fascist bjp and rss in India today is a copy of British policies. Actual colonial era policies are used today to jail journalists and citizens who speak out

I am from India and I must clear the misconceptions about caste system in India. Yes there is in rural areas but we have come a long way towards equality through policies and society in general moving on. Also caste system does not only belong to Hindu community, you can be a Muslim, Christian or Sikh and still have the same caste system. But this movie says caste system is everywhere in India is like saying every white American is Racist today . That's obviously not true, the last embers of racism or castism left shouldn't be inflamed in my opinion. Majority of us are good people striving for equality and a better life. And not having one single representation of them in this movie is malicious or plain ignorant.

So regarding the color change. We the people of India are right at this moment fighting for our democracy. India has slipped into an electoral autocracy and BJP (ruling party) has practically destroyed media and established it's propoganda machine. Half the bollywood is in the same situation. Opposition is being opperesed, protestors are beaten up, gassed, hosed and they've even put up artificial boundaries in city more heavily guarded than our borders just to stop rallies. Currently only 4 things are holding the Democracy together in India, Supreme court, Protestors, Opposition and KZbinrs. BJP is a party that is openly corrupt, using enforcement agencies to cookup false cases to jail protestors and opposition, while also promoting a Hindu only country (Fascism but Hindu). This is the situation. Monkey Man's basic premise will expose the entire government and Bollywood which has been either making flops or propaganda

How can you people so shamelessly lie like this? Hindus demanding Uniform Civil Code is fascism?!! Hindus demanding equality under law and to free temples from government control is fascism?! The BJP party is run by backward caste. You people can do your propaganda all you want, but truth shall triumph. I am from a MBC community btw. If Congress has to win, they will have to win over the people's trust, demonizing Hindus won't gain your ilk any support.

Stop spreading total lies like the movie that India is under some autocracy when the BJP was voted by the majority of the public .And no rallies are banned,no opposition is jailed but because most white people have no clue you think you can fool them just like the movie you want to spread a Hinduphobic narrative rooted in colonial racism and religious hate of the Hindus even though he uses a mask of hanuman to push . Do you even know what fascism is ? of course not. Just like slumdog millionaire where he pushed the same hinduphobic narrative even though its not even in the book.

okay Im gonna chime in because I think you can absolutely criticize the BJP without misrepresenting facts. "Cooking up false cases to jail opposition" is a very naive way to look at the arrests that happened. All those arrests were deserved. Its just that Modi conveniently "forgets" the BJP members from the arrest lists. In reality I dont think there's a person today in Indian politics that doesnt deserve jail time.

@@govinddas7876 Of course it's not that there is a pure person in our politics but the cases that were used to Jail AAP leaders is pretty much false. They might be guilty in other cases but the one that jailed them is definitely false

After Americans after watching rrr the the and going to like this thing SS Rajamouli would have never worked with Dev Patel because everyone Indian knows Dev Patel walks and is a citizen of United Kingdom of course he is going to show United kingdom's colonial Jewel India as a country which is unable to process itself after its Masters have gone away
