This breed is very loving. They are good also to take as their own babies when mom dies. I had a cat that took some baby rabbits, I was giving them a bottle, I took 2 and my neighbor 2. She came over and took them from me. Was so cute ,they got bigger than her. She protected them from dogs, cute when she cleaned there long ears .

Watch their other monkey video sometime in 2013 there is a baby monkey with this monkey,says its hers. I guess all mammal milk is similar and compatible. Probably not exactly the same but close enough.

Lesleigh LeLievre ... A baby animal can knead on the breast area of an unaltered animal, resulting in the animal producing milk to nurse the baby. I know, because I brought home a tiny kitten that I was bottle feeding. The kitten had a bed in my bathroom. I had rescued an 11 year old pug/chihuahua mix from a small animal pound before I got the kitten. Tammy, the dog, wanted to stay in the bathroom with the kitten. After awhile, the kitten did not want the bottle. Then I found out that Tammy was nursing the kitten. Tammy loved and protected the kitten. The kitten grew to be more than twice as big as the dog, and she still protected him like she did when he was a baby. They were always curled up together sleeping. It was so cute.

That's amazing. Thanks for sharing with me. :) Seems like after I thought about it a while I remembered a poodle that we had that developed milk for some orphaned kittens when I was a kid. Things we forget. I think it's all about the hormones of the animal involved, and yes, I do think being unaltered helps. Have a Blessed Thanksgiving!

Lesleigh LeLievre ... That must have been amazing, as a child, to witness the relationship develop between your dog and those kittens. I know that I enjoyed watching the relationship develop between Tammy and the kitten, Feisty. Yes, the animal has to be unaltered for this to happen. An altered animal will not produce milk. Even a nursing mother cat will stop producing milk when spayed. (I made the mistake of spaying a mother cat too soon, because I was afraid that she would get pregnant again. Someone at the vet had given me incorrect information about this. The cat still had one kitten who was not weaned. Then someone else at the vet told me what I had already found out, when the kitten wasn't getting any milk.) The kneading by the baby stimulates the glands in the breast to produce milk. You and yours have a Blessed Thanksgiving also, and Thank you.

It looked like the kitten was nursing. Did the monkey lose a baby? If so it would make sense that she would want to mother another small animal. We had a cat once that didn't care for her kittens quite as much as she should...so her sister (kittens' Aunt) would let the kittens suckle and they always choose one certain teat..it got very elongated...she was a very good nanny & never been pregnant. Later she had a litter and they all died, even at the vet's. Sad. Now she's spayed.

This is so sad. Monkeys are social animals, it's obvious that the monkey wants a baby like all of her kind. I wonder if these wonderful people realize how ignorant this looks. Get a dog, cat any domesticated animal that took mankind centuries to convert to a life with us. Take a look at youtube monkey owner "bbcatlover". He has two monkeys and a baby monkey that play with cats he rescues. The monkeys don't realise a cat can't be lifted or pulled by the legs or tails...but they wouldn't hurt the cats. I am sure your monkey is the same, they just like to have their own "pet" to give affection to. Vervet monkeys are quite intelligent, but that feeding position for a cat is probably uncomfortable. The cat doesn't hold on and the monkey doesn't understand.
