This was a great run of shows. Jerry was looking good and sounding good as well! I chose to go to a couple shows at the spectrum and this was my only one at MSG. So glad I was there and my buddy gave me the full recording which of course disintegrated long ago. Thanks for posting this!

My first ever New York City show, and a real gem. Got a fine version of Dylan's "Stuck Inside Of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again" which is probably my favorite Dylan cover the Grateful Dead performed,.. Garcia was on top of his game this night, New York City seemed to bring out a bit of extra energy in him.

Saint Dominic's Review - Native NYer here, so I’m biased....🥰...great first NY show for you! My fave Dylan cover is “Masterpiece”, by far, but I also like “Memphis Blues”...Jerry had a little bit of a rough start w “ToG” - not even the usual smile on his face, even had his brow furrowed - but he came roaring back right away w “GSET”...

Jane Lane - if I’ve heard it once, I’ve heard it a million times...East coast shows are never like others (always something negative about the east coast)...now I’m a native NYer, so maybe I’m biased, but I went to every MSG show I could manage and I had a blast every time, and this show was no different!! Ok, was EVERY MSG show magical? No...like I said, I’m a little biased...🥰...but I went to great and not great shows around the country, and I refer to both the music AND the vibe/energy/people when I say great/not great. This show proves the east coast could hold its own!! Beautiful Row Jimmy and kickin GDTRFB!!!!! Loved Edie!!! What a great show!!!

I had a strong desire to NOT listen to a great man commit suicide, so SLOWLY.... There is some really unlistenable stuff from 1980 to 1995, and so much great, impeccable music I can just ALWAYS find something wonderful. But, I came to realize, Garcia's story IS part of life, and perhaps, a lesson or two lurks there.
@claymationwaves5 жыл бұрын
He actually had preamp in his guitar that had highs they literally do not include anymore because they said people were not used to the frequencies.... Well we as dead fans love them so make an early 90s special preamp again and make it the Jerry Garcia model!!

Jerry was basically putting it out there to wind the party down because he was obviously going to pass and more and more people kept showing up because freedom and colorful expression is king and key for imaginative peaceful expression to be given the chance to grow...
@humanbeing24207 ай бұрын
The guys in this band were extremely generous in giving Vince the opportunity to sing Baba O'Riley and Tomorrow Never Knows. By all rights he should have been dismissed from the band six months into his tenure when it became clear that he still hadn't been able to learn the songs and they'd need another year of backup from Bruce Hornsby.

You can blame Vince for that, amd lottsa other stuff that made his era of the band, the weakest part.
@humanbeing24207 ай бұрын
@@toddmorrissey8372 I detest Vince and I think his musical talent could not fill a thimble - an atrocious, disastrous choice to succeed Brent - but I also think this cover was not as awful as I expected it would be, and could have been brought up to respectable, performable level had the band actually ever rehearsed it instead of just winging it.
@toddmorrissey83727 ай бұрын
@@humanbeing2420 Believe me, i agree with everything you've said and I think the band hiring Vince was possibly the biggest misstep in the band's career. They do themselves any favors by hiring him. But man....he sure had a set of balls to go out the way he did. And right in front of his wife too.
