That was a great comparison Bearkat, I think the ATX did a good job. I would just like to add a few facts: The 5000 has a whole lot of settings to allow it to function in extremely noisy ground, the type of ground that would prevent the use of any VLF machine. The 5000 special timings ignore most of the hot rocks that are prevalent here in the Australian gold fields. Having said that, the ATX does appear to have a capability that would make it a capable tool in the hunt for gold, I'm gunna give serious thought to buying one. Thanks for your efforts.

Another great video Bearkat - appreciate the time you are putting into these comparos mate. What you have demonstrated once again is the rock-solid stability of the ATX threshold - even when operating at maximum sensitivity. Stable threshold equals crisper target response at all depths - Look forward to you next and Happy Prospecting! Warren.

Would sharp make any changes when operating on special ? My GPX 4500 picks up .07 at 3" using special and sensitive extra but using a NF 14x9 mono ........

Woooo Wooooo Wooooo ,, back up just a tick here . Did i just see the Garrett At Gold do what i thought i saw and heard it do ? Ive been wanting to see something like that for ages ! To date the AT Gold has been my weapon of choice after using SO many different machines . Looking forward to the ATX to become readily available here in Oz. Bring it on .

Hi Bearcat. great video. Was u setting Sensitive extra in normal or special mode? I thoght, it was sensitive extra in special mode or? Is there difference between sensitive extra in normal and sensitive extra in special mode?

It was sensitive extra in special. Sensitive extra does not engage unless you are in special setting. Thanks...

Hey ,, i want to complain about this video, How can you even think that the GPX 5000 would find the 0.3 and 0.1 when the wind was blowing from east to west?? This test is unfair as you were not wearing a knitted hat on a Saturday.Thanks for the Video ,, will the ATX have a mono in the next vid?.
@Yabble5082 жыл бұрын
Gpx 5000 couldn’t pick up the 0.1 nugget. Maybe with headphones. The AT Gold even picked up the 0.1 nugget. Still the GPX 5000 is the better machine.

Subbed! I'll be getting the ATX soon for prospecting in Arizona next year for a while. Love my AT Gold and Pro and hope when my AT Max gets here I'll love it too. I tried the Minelab ctx 3030 and while I liked it I found that I wasn't finding anymore relics that with my Garrett machines for less money so it had to go. Great video!

Hey Bearkat. Impressed with all of your videos.A question comes to mind,when you run the AT GOLD over the same targets it does extremely well.how would it compare if the three were in highly mineralised soil,or on a salt beach?
@mortezasadeghi763410 жыл бұрын
hi bearkat... i have got a question from you please answer me by the way minelab GPX 5000 or Garret AT Pro or Garret ATX ....which better ? for gold detect in 3 meters depth in land.....merc
@bearkat416010 жыл бұрын
GPX 5000 or the Garrett ATX. Either will do, not the AT Pro though.
@stanlouis45810 жыл бұрын
WHY??? Purchase either PI detectors if the AT Gold hit on the nuggets louder and seemingly easier and is a whole lot cheaper?
@bearkat416010 жыл бұрын
Because in hot dirt the AT Gold will be almost useless. You will need a pulse induction machine. Dirt in the test was not that hot and is why the AT Gold did so well...

I know this is a damn old video -- but couldn't help notice a major flaw with this testing that's worth pointing out... you were running the GPX with gain set to 11 (out of a maximum of 20) -- and then ran the ATX at max gain. You say this is because the GPX is too noisy at max... but considering how quiet it was at 11, I'm pretty damn sure you could have upped it to at least 15 or 16 and would have sounded off much louder and massively improved chances on those smaller pieces in Fine Gold setting.... the point is with the right adjustments to stabilizer and perhaps a couple other settings that you didn't touch -- it would have very likely been very workable with a higher gain setting -- which would made the comparisons much fairer.

Wow! Thanks for the video. I have used Minelabs from the sd2200v2 to the 4000 (which I didn't like). I currently have a Whites TDI Sl, which I also don't care for; now I am in market for another PI detector, but which one should I buy? I can't afford the 5000 Minelab so I am looking to buy the latest mid-range Minelab or the Garrett ATX. Your video has convinced me that the Garrett ATX is an excellent buy, and since the mid-range Minelab isn't available yet, I have just decided to go with the Garrett ATX, based on your video!
@romar83911 жыл бұрын
Way too heavy, and the headset male connector (two tiny prongs) will drive you crazy when you try to connect it to the detector box .

Should have looked at the specs of the ATX before posting. The ATX is very heavy. Coil cable issue has been resolved.

just purchased the ATX not because of the vid but the priceit should arrive by Friday I did look real hard at that GPX 5000 would of broke the bank. At least this way i can put 2 gallon of gas in the truck and go hunt in Malibu until I find something, yes live in my truck!
@nightcrawler564011 жыл бұрын
Iiii dunno about this one BK, did the ML guys catch up to you and slap you silly or something? Great video as usual, but I'm seeing more time spent on the 5000 than with the ATX here. I guess I can see what your getting at, but that much dink'n around with all those switches, knobs, and buttons for the different settings with the 5000 just to hit those targets kinda takes away from the over all ATX review (I feel). But that's just me. you can't please everyone, and thanks very much for the hard work your doing here BK either way. Dee PS: I guess it does show how much easier/simpler the ATX is to use to hit all 4 targets on the one setting compared to the 5000 which requires "many". :)
@bearkat416011 жыл бұрын
Well yea man, you got it on your last line, that was the point of this video...it's about both detectors, not just the ATX.
