Good Morning from OHIO… I built this kit when I was young… My friend DAVE and I had a whole CARRIER WING of MONOGRAM navy kits… We loved the toy, moving parts… AND WE KEPT BREAKING AND REPAIRING THEM,😡🤬 I agree with you, just build it straight forward and glue everything in place… BUT, we sure had fun playing with them…. Until they broke Your reviews are great, especially when you use the old MONOGRAM kits… I still build the old stuff, just don’t play with them anymore Have a great day, be safe and MODEL ON ………….😊 CHRIS from OHIO 🇺🇸

Thanks for sharing the memories Chris! Don't tell anyone, but I still fly them around while they're in-process!🙂

Built this as a kid as I was a huge fan of Black Sheep Squadron! I remember the wings gave me fits as I wanted working folding wings! I didn’t care as I had nothing else to play BSS with! Thanks for memories!

You're welcome - I did the exact same thing. Flew this kit and the dreadful Monogram Zero all over the house!

Built this same kit as a kid, the working features are good for kids who are impressed by that stuff. Currently have the Hasegawa F4U-4 in the stash, which is its own walk down Memory Lane (more early-90s).

Nice! The Hasegawa (ex Mania kit) is another oldie but goodie. I have the Tamiya in-process as well as a Hasegawa F4U-7 in the stash. More reviews coming up.

I built the old Heller F4U-7 years ago simply to get the kino French Navy Suez markings. Either the Hasegawa or Hobby Boss now would be better than chasing down one of those relics.

I’m building this kit right now I kit bashed it with a Hasegawa kit to add more detail to this classic kit.

Right on! I think I saw your build on FB - it's looking great!

The Dash 4 Corsair was a hot variant. I think it reached South Pacific squadrons on January 1945. One of the very top single engine fighters of WW2.

Another excellent looking build. The Corsair was never a kit I was able to get. I like the airplane a lot and maybe I’ll opt for a more modern kit this time.

Thanks! The Tamiya F-4U is currently the best kit. Cheers!

I bought this kit and the p-40.the older kits when monogram was there own company was better then this kits that are coming out.compared to todays boxing fit better then the newer ones.had a lot of problems with the wings and oil coolers.also the canopy had large gaps when fitting.it is ok for a skill builder.with a little scratch bluiding it is an ok kit for the price.got it at hobby lobby for about 12 bucks with the 40 percent off.would i buy it again probably just to have fun with it.

Right on, Richard! when I was a kid, I remember building this kit and the Monogram zero that came together in a "Black Sheep Squadron" boxing. Neither is a great kit, but I loved putting the landing gear up on each one and having dogfights all over the house. For me, this build was a fun and inexpensive nostalgia build. However, I would be frustrated if I bought this kit and tried to make a "serious" model. Cheers!

must test fit before glueing
@jonsmodelkitreview46246 ай бұрын
You are correct. Seam cleanup and dry-fitting are standard proceedures on the classic kits (good practice on newer kits as well). Cheers!
