Still cant believe why you only have 15k follower. These videos are sooooo gooood! All best for you!

Thank you so much! And I am very happy with these 15k to be honest :) The modular community is not extremely big, and making the decision to not include all sorts of other synths and gadgets, it will stay an underdog. But this small group has been very friendly and supportive so far, I just went full time with the channel! Feel free to spread the word though. All the best :)

Wow wonderful filter and concise explanation, too! The haters think this makes things sound bad, but they just have limited imaginations. It’s a deep filter with many musical applications!

Glad you liked it! It's a unique piece of gear. Indeed it's not your run of the mill filter, instead it can really be used as a sound design tool, to add grit, texture and overtones. That takes some open mind to see :)

Hope you will in the meantime your vid's are highly appreciated 🙃 Did you know if there is some places where we could find grainity? Looks like even if the people aren't that much into it it's still out of stock everywhere and no one seems to be keen selling it So i guess everyone enjoys it nonetheless
@MonotrailTechTalk Жыл бұрын
Grainity isn't for sale yet! There was a little issue they wanted to fix before selling, which I think is a good thing. So the reason people don't have it in stock, is it's not distributed yet. Think the problem is already solved though, and should be out somewhere in the near future!

What I find so useful about your deep dives is figuring out how I can replicate the effect of these complex modules which you highlight - using the simple, less complex modules I already own. For example, to replicate the granular filter part of the Klavis Grainity, I would use one of my 8-step sequencers [clocked by the square wave output of a one of my simple VCOs (passing this square wave signal through various dividers, multipliers and/or trigger delays, before it’s fed into the clock input of the aforementioned sequencer), then feeding the output of the sequencer into the CV input of one of my multi mode VCFs, with the audio outputs of the aforementioned simple VCO fed into the audio input of the selected multi mode VCF. This way, the sequencer and multimode VCF combined will replicate the effect of the granular-filter part of the Klavis Grainity. Interesting variations of the effect produced by this replicated Grainity set-up might involve: adding another VCO - using the same 1v/octave control voltage as the first VCO (by way of a buffered mult), but passing this second VCO’s 1v/octave input through an attenuverter to detune it up or down, and using this second VCO’s square wave output to control the multimode VCF’s frequency cutoff - thus creating a weird out-of-phase granular-filter effect. This kind of deconstruction of the processed created by the complex modules you demonstrate (which I cannot afford) allows me to avoid the GAS which your deep dives inspire, and instead find new creative uses of the modules I already own - converting GAS into new creative patch ideas for the modules I already own!!! This way your deep dives have two valuable outcomes: either they can inspire the purchase of the module being reviewed, or they can provide new and exciting patching ideas for the gear we already own! That is the brilliance of the unique and thorough way you analyse the modules you highlight- which gives us not only an extremely informative review of a specific module, but also amazing insights into the underlying principles involved for us to take away and use as inspiration for new patching ideas to apply to the modules we already own!!! This is a really powerful and uniquely brilliant service you provide, so THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!

Hi there! Very glad to hear you like it! I am happy to shine light on new modules, also keeps things fun for me :) But for sure always keep in mind how to add value and patch ideas to the video in general! Thanks for watching :)

@@MonotrailTechTalk Thank you for your reply! Please note that I have edited my original post above to give it more clarity, because I think it failed to get across what I was trying to say! 🤪😁😁😁 - in as much as I was trying to express how inspiring your reviews are, rather than attempting to add some patch ideas to use with this particular module… if that makes any sense!! 🤪🤪🤪🙄😁😁😁 So once again, thank you!!!!!

Hey, thanks for the involved answer! Have to say maybe my responds was to short, because I got what you meant, but fun to read all the depth :) Indeed that's what I hope to achieve when possible. I enjoy explaining and showing new modules. But always try to add explanations and patches that inspire and or are useful without the new module. Also have to say Grainty inspired me to do the same! It's a fun interesting idea that can be applied to audio in different ways. Set up 2 filters for stereo patches, and so on. I might come back to that and things you mention in a another video :) All the best!

Great demo. Looks like Eric has knocked this one out of the park (sorry-American metaphor), although the manufacturing snafu has probably stolen some of the satisfaction.

I think it's quite a unique concept! And to be fair, I rather have manufacturers deal with things instead of releasing to early. So it's a good thing :)

the concept of the module is cool and clever, but the actual sound quality of the granular filter side is questionable, not sounding good to my ears.
@MonotrailTechTalk Жыл бұрын
I think what the module has to overcome is it's name. A lot of people will associate granular with digital modules like clouds etc. That's why I added the second chapter, there's a lot of fun to be had there! But the module has a fully analog audio path, with switching between grains there can be clicking, frequency beating and so on. I think that's where the interesting sounds are. A field to explore on it's own, but it's not what people might expect giving it a glance. Cheers!

I think it’s very expressive. It adds lots of harmonic/dynamic movement and character to the signal to my ears.
