He is not a monster. He is just confused, living for decades of people just looking at him like one kinda does that to someone. And not he only turns into the creatures when he feels great emotions and such. Protecting Chise, losing Chise, heck Saving Chise he does it all for her. "She is the only one who looks at me and is not afraid" He realises he loves her in episode 11. Its not his fault. And their love story is beautiful, I am in tears just watching this and expressing these emotions.

It's TRUE, some people say this story is creepy but I love them. He is so new to his feelings and emotions, a child really when it comes to understanding and projecting his feelings. He goes blank when he's trying to understand and it looks like he is asleep but he's just thinking internally what it's about, I find those moments funny. When his eyes disappear. I also love when tilts his head to the side when he's trying to understand. So cute.

It's anime, this is normal to happen and since this is created in Japan, Chise at her age is considered of legal age. Just because in other countries the age of consent is higher doesn't mean that it applies everywhere. (And it certaintly does not stop the 12 year olds that actively search for older men in those countries where 18 years are considered to be an adult, so, clearly it's just morals speaking for each individual.) Another thing is that you are missing the point of this story. Elias looks like an adult, but mentally he is not. I don't see anything wrong about them being together when it's not forced. Sure, he bought her but has he done anything to her? No. He didn't hurt her physically, he didn't rape her. You can clearly see that they genuinely care for each other although they don't know what emotion they are feeling. Chise ended up in the best possible place she could. I just can imagine what sort of people actually attend those auctions and were she to fall to someone's else hands, it would be much, much worse. Sorry for rambling.

My favorite anime ever, boy is that saying something! Absolutely amazing, I wish it was longer, or had a movie, I know there’s an OVA but still. What Elias is as a creature is debatable, but regardless his emotions are on an immature child’s level but otherwise he knows what he’s doing. He’s used to being alone, not being a teacher so there is gaps in what Chise should know but he very much cares for her. His perspective is interesting, he’s very open to her taking her time to fall in love and become his bride, yet is firm in his decision that she can’t do whatever she wants, given her state of self at the beginning that was smart of him. Love how they grow so much together with grandfather Lindel watching over 💙

It's interesting to think so many people say this is pedophilia yet there was not ONCE anything even remotely sexual, and the only scenes with nudity the one they call a pedophile isnt even in. The "pedo" also saved her from either a life of rape, torture, death, or even all three. Those saying this anime is wrong is FAR from the truth, he says she cant leave because of numorous reasons and frankly i agree to it. The beginning of the story she wanted nothing more then to die, so its a huge concern in itself to him that she will leave and kill herself, then theres also the sickos looking to use her for immoral things. He wants to teach her who you can and cant trust, as well as no matter how tough life is, living is always one of the best decisions. He wants to understand human emotions because he ISNT human and WASNT taught emotions before. Everyone sees him as a scumbag saying he SHOULD already kniw right from wrong as well as emotions, but how can he when he was always threatened by human society to leave, even before he could say one word or do an action, all because he looked like a monster. The two main characters are meant to show you what its like to be an outcast even in todays society, this happens so often its not funny. Before you go and say "this is wrong" or "hes a scumbag" understand that this is more than half of society in a nutshell, anyone who bullies in school or work or home creates people like the two main characters in this video. If either of them are scumbags, then that means those who made them like that are worst, in which case most people today are WORST then scumbags, because i can ALMOST guarantee that somewhere along the way you made someone feel like an outcast too.
