Great video, I fish in Sydney harbour and in the last week I’ve fished every day and caught nothing. But it takes patience, as I’m sure you know. A great spot for flathead is Watson’s bay near the baths. I caught a 57cm dusky flathead there and 3 leatherjackets. You can also get snapper, bream and if your lucky, slimy mackerel.
@FishingwithMarkiMark5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words my dude really appreciate it! I find it is slowing down landbased east of the harbour bridge as the season is changing but there are some good fish to be caught. Ahh yes, I know the area mate.. I like to catch calamari near there off the rocks/weeds :)

Shimano Sedona 3000? I use that for land base, find it very good. Your thoughts?
@FishingwithMarkiMark6 жыл бұрын
That's right bud, definitely a solid little reel! It's such great value for money and can handle its own :) I haven't used it for a while as I have been using my Shimano Sustain 3000 which I won in a competition, so it has become my secondary 3000 reel! Hope you are enjoying yours. Tight-lines.
@jamiep18175 жыл бұрын
Fishin' with Marki Mark Yes very good reel. Caught many things on it. I’m planning on moving up and buying a new one. Is the sustain worth the price?
@FishingwithMarkiMark5 жыл бұрын
Doesntmakeanysence2u Honestly my dude I’ve owned and used a lot of reels weather it be mine or friends reels in all different brands and I can comfortably say it’s the best reel I’ve owned! It’s super solid, feels great, drag is silky smooth, drag clicker is super audible, it’s put together well there is no play in any moving parts! I’m just not using it as much at the moment as I’m Chasing bigger species and using Saragosa’s and Stradic Fk’s! But yes best reel I’ve ever had the pleasure to use! You can pick them up reasonably priced when you find them on sale, so definitely jump on it! Hope that helps my dude! Tight lines.
@jamiep18175 жыл бұрын
Fishin' with Marki Mark Sounds good, that’s going to be my next buy. I have a Stella 8000, for my larger species fishing, but i don’t like it. Is the Saragossa an Upgrade or downgrade in your opinion.
@FishingwithMarkiMark5 жыл бұрын
Doesntmakeanysence2u Stella 8000 is definitely and upgrade over the Saragosa! I’ve had a chance to use the Stella on a couple of sessions and found it quite enjoyable to use! It’s all preference but I prefer a round handle than the Saragosa egg rubber handle, the only reason being when I have long boat sessions with deep drops I get blisters on my hands winding up and down all day, I didn’t get that with the Stella. What don’t you like about the Stella? It’s a brilliant reel.

i though that the fish is not clean to eat due of blue green algae
@FishingwithMarkiMark5 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, no reports of blue/green algae affecting Sydney Harbour at the time of this catch! It is safe to consume as long as you are within your Sydney Harbour dioxin limit as stated on the NSW DPI website. Cheers & tight lines :)

Where abouts in Sydney do you recommend for fishing. Great fish also. 👍
@FishingwithMarkiMark6 жыл бұрын
Thank you mate! In Sydney I highly recommend that you try some ferry wharfs, east or west of the harbour bridge. Sydney Harbour is really firing up! Botany Bay is firing up also with lots of smaller Kingfish, they were recently released to replenish our stocks. Port Hacking river system is holding a mixed bag of species! Get out there & have some fun this summer, Goodluck :) !!
@jonnywaselectric5 жыл бұрын
Good fun mate, your baits will present better without those massive snap swivels, tie straight to the hook
@FishingwithMarkiMark5 жыл бұрын
jonnywaselectric Cheers mate, definitely agree with you! I do get the smallest profile I can get for my target species. They are convenient when changing lures and squid jigs as the fish go for reactionary bite! I do take them off as seen on my new videos when I notice the fish being a bit timid on the day :) yewww

Nice videos!Do you just connect the snap swivel from your main line then straight to the hook?
@FishingwithMarkiMark5 жыл бұрын
ernest cruz Appreciate it mate! I have braid as my main line then I use a fluorocarbon leader fixed to my mainline with a double uni or FG knot! Then I tie my snap swivel with Uni Knot. Using snap swivels is very situational, if your really finesse fishing and the fish are leader shy I wouldn’t use it! It’s very handy if your targeting bustups or using lures as the fish go for a reactionary bite not thinking about the snap swivel etc! Hope that helps mate :)

hey mate thats a beautiful location i would really like too go fishing there do u mind me asking for the location??
@FishingwithMarkiMark6 жыл бұрын
Zakaria Abdul Rahman Hi All, I Just wanted to make a quick announcement as I have been receiving tons of messages on a daily basis regarding fishing locations on all my social media outlets. Please don't think I am being a douche or selfish about locations, rather the contrary. I don't share locations on a public forum because I've seen the negative impacts of SOME fisherman turning spots into rubbish tips, because I care about spots being over-fished and it's effects on our marinelife, because I care about the residents that live nearby and having hoards of fisho's stampeding by. Most of the people watching my videos, will find the spot over time and have a fish, which is great because it won't be an immediate open door flooding 100's of fisho's all at once. I've started KZbin to help out as much as possible & share my experiences, so that we can all benefit. I just don't think publicly posting locations would be the right thing for me to do as the ramifications of doing so would make it un-enjoyable for all persons (you wouldn't be able to fish yourself if I publicly announced all fishing locations). I've been blackmailed, bribed, cursed at and nasty things said to my family & I if I wouldn't supply them with the fishing location. I do my own research and use Google Maps in Satellite mode to find locations, making sure fishing is permitted & checking ferry times & foot traffic. Please free to contact me via IG, FB & YT as I'm happy to help out as much as I can & steer you in the right direction. Thanks for your understanding & Tight-lines!

don't the flattys get eggs all through the flesh when they're that big and taste kinda bad? how was it?
@FishingwithMarkiMark5 жыл бұрын
Not that i'm aware mate. However I don't tend to take much fish home nowadays and if i catch a flatty anything under 50cm is pretty good for the table as the bigger ones are females and are best left to breed :)

Bro tighten your drag, your using a 3000 reel but the drags as loose as a 1000. It’s just annoying because these fish shouldn’t be pulling this much drag 4:24
@FishingwithMarkiMark6 жыл бұрын
Brodie Dandy Cheers mate, you are right indeed, it is loose! You can see I tightened up during the fight. I left it loose when I was pulling my line out to re rig and didn’t tighten enough to set it to an acceptable strike drag! Good pickup cheers & tight lines.
