that is an iinteresting track you set up - how did you do it so you could put straight streets inbetween the "angled"" curves? another question: If you put up "railings" on the outer streets could you just race at full speed all the time?

Actually, the embanked curves do a great job of keeping the cars on without railings. As for the straight tracks...I used a lot of supports!

Daytona is a tri-oval. If you get rid of straights in corners you could set it up so you can go full out.

Nice job! It looks very nice! We just bought the Carerra 80's Flashback set! It is unbelievable!!!!! We've got the Aurora Super International Challenge Set too! Love Carerra cars for 1:32scale, they are a little slower than SCX, but the detail and quality of the Carrera cars are unmatched. I love Aurora for HO! Wizard cars are great too!

It's all fun! We found the Carrera cars to be more durable than Scalextric though...lots of Scalexetric cars we use to race are broken to heck.

Very cool track, although I’m not a big fan of the fixed crossover tracks, they cause too many issues, I would sooner put digital crossover so the driver can decide if he wants to change lanes 😅

There were 2 problems with the digital cross overs on this track....first was the steep angle and how the gravity affected the switch mechanism, and second, we had guys that would figure out how to use the switch to get the most speed out of the cars. the forced crosses stopped that somewhat.

Sometimes the solution is simple, it's just a matter of looking at things differently. - It is harder to push the buttons with the track piece "Upside Down" though. 🤓

Where do you get the track for the lane change from the inside to outside track? I have just started.

It's all Carrera track. A lot of the pieces come in the Digital starter sets.

The evolution track pieces are 100% compatible with the Digital pieces, with the exception of the power tracks.

The only lane change track for evolution is the forced X piece, but you need 2 on a single lane because with evolution, you flip the polarity of the track when you use the X, so you need a second X to bring the polarity back to it's original starting point or you will short-circuit the track.

Definitely improved over the previous Daytona, but still a bit off. Some of that could be limitations of space and track types. I'm not familiar with Carrera track so the parts my not be available. Daytona is a tri-oval track, this is more of a quad-oval track (like Charlotte, Atlanta and Texas). Not sure if Carrera track can do a true tri-oval. The start/finish line on this track is on the back stretch. At Daytona, it's in the middle of the tri-oval (Talladega has it in the straight exiting the tri-oval).

You know your tracks well! Well, this is an adaptation of Daytona in the best way I could possibly fit it in my available space. I suppose I could get even more accurate, but I would need more tables and track pieces. Thank you for your continued interest in my channel!

I try. LOL! I used to be a huge NASCAR fan. That is, until I watched my favorite driver die. I started losing interest after that. All of the rules changes and "The Chase" have pushed me away. I figured space would play a big part in making Daytona difficult to pull off. It's a big track and Carrera takes up a lot of space. I'm wondering if I could pull it off with my Tyco track......... Never really thought about it before. I MIGHT be able to get the tri-oval. But I wouldn't be able to get the lap counter in the right position. I wouldn't be able to do the banking with a 4 lane set up. Maybe with a 2 lane if I have enough banked track.

Sure! In fact, it would be better that way. I just don't have the table room personally, but if I did, another two 4'x8' table in the middle would be perfect!

The curves I am using are the high Banked R4/15 and R3-30's. those are the biggest Carrera makes. You could "Square up the corners" by adding straight sections to them to widen them out, but you will need to figure a way to support them. I use styrofoam.

It isn't really a "set". I bought a Carrera starter set and expanded it with several track extension packages. don't ask me about "cost"...let's just say it's a lot! :D

High Banked. I use 3/30's and 4/15 high Banked. Gives me more room around the track...but they are tricky to set up!
