4U has the most memorable characters, vivid introductions to every Monster, a great way to represent the tribal, yet modern life in this cruel, unforgiving world, the best introduction into the series, a brand new Teostra, a wide vatiety of Monsters to hunt, challenging quests and thanks to the Wyporium, a great way to include nostalgia into the game. Not to mention the Event Quests. Holy, they were absolutely astounding! I hate expeditions and Guild Quests to this day, but the content 4U offers is undeniably large and effective! @@Altraiid well when you think about it, Nintendo is where Monster hunters og fanbase is at. The cutscenes in MH4 still look fantastic to these days. I really love that your characters are always there and interacting with the monsters in many different ways. I especially like how the cutscenes just lead right into the fight and make it feel all the more immersive. It's a real shame that we're not getting this kind of interactive monster intros in Rise. The monster intros in Rise are pretty cool, but they're definitely not as interesting and rewatchable as these scenes in MH4. I always come back to look at these videos with different costumes and weapons back then. LOL The story progression is a lot better, too. You really feel like you're going on a journey and trying to take down the big boss that is Gore Magala. It feels a lot more personal as you run into it so many times but only able to drive it away. You see it hurting your friends and even your Palico! Finally, you face it in an epic battle where it makes a really grand, but also creepy and horrifying entrance along with its enraged form, showing you its full might. But that's not even the end as Gore Magala manages to escape and evolve into Shagaru Magala for an even more epic final showdown! I swear, that scene when Shagaru makes it first appearance from within the black frenzy mist to reveal its golden form still gives me chills. The way it stares you down and flew up, glowing so bright, preparing for the final fight to the death really get me on the edge of my seat. And after all that, the calm and almost sad ending just wrap up the journey so nicely...before you set off for more adventure. The story in Rise is...interesting (the NPC characters really add to the experience), but it's still nowhere near MH4's story and the way you get to experience it. Even though the graphics may look outdated (but seriously, it still looks damn impressive), it may not feel epic for being on a small screen but it feels grander than any Monster Hunter games out there. I really wish Rise could have gone in a similar route. I sure hope Capcom can make a Monster Hunter game that feels this epic again one day. But if not, at least we will always have this gem on the 3DS, the memories in our hearts and videos to relive our experience on KZbin! XD

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate is a game I will always remember. It was the first Monster Hunter game I played. It all started when I was watching another channel. He was better known for doing Pokemon videos but he had been playing the Japanese release of Monster Hunter 4 and I started watching his videos from that. The more I watched, the more interested I became and eventually decided I wanted to play the game. But I would have to wait until 4 Ultimate was released. Ironically it was February 15th, I'd never been a fan of Valentines Day, but on the day afterward my love affair with the Monster Hunter series began as I dove in headfirst into the world of 4 Ultimate. But it wasn't always easy. As the monsters got tougher, I struggled to keep up, I had not started watching any guides so I'd gone blind through most of the story, and that meant making a lot of mistakes. In the early days I used great sword and charge blade, but later switched to the insect glaive, liking its fighting style and appreciating how it made mounting easier. Another thing I had face was I had to accept that hunters often have to be cold blooded killers, as I felt very bad for a lot of the monsters as I fought them, especially if I was doing really well and just destroying them. Nowhere was that felt more than on the egg stealing quest. I started to feel on the verge of tears as I fought that Rathian who just wanted to raise her children, and here I was savagely assaulting her and stealing them from her. Nonetheless I kept going. I can still remember how I struggled against Gore Magala when I had to fight it, not doing well with avoiding its attacks and taking severe damage, fainting over and over. Nonetheless I was eventually able to beat him and I finished the story. But even while playing with other people, trying to make my way through the ranks, I still continued to struggle, not doing well in hunts at all, and being subjected to a great deal of mockery and ridicule from those I hunted with who were not a part of my friends who also played the game. Each quest I took on was approached with dread and uncertainty as I was still very new and did not do a lot of research at all. I'll continue my story in the next part, and get to what would be a very big turning point for me.

@@yiangaruga4928 Imo they're still worth playing. 3U has many unique monsters that still haven't returned yet. 4U has great maps, the best story so far in MH (toss up with Iceborne), most challenging postgame, guild quests/the Everwood, and a great roster of Gen 2/4 monsters. It has really good subspecies/variants too, the best in the series IMO, and the most areas to visit when not hunting. GU has 93 large monsters. GU, has 93 large monsters. 4U and GU have fantastic multiplayers too, way better than World/Iceborne. They're still active as well. 3U for the Wii U has online multiplayer too, 3DS is purely local. Watching Cotton struggle and die while Josh laughs is fun and all but trust me, the MH franchise has some of the greatest games of all time. World isn't the only good MH game.

Looking back, 4th gen did a fantastic job with world building. In fact, having watched the opening cinematics, it's rather impressive how well they managed to capture it in World's actual gameplay. But I still feel the story and buildup to Shagaru in 4 was the best progression the series has ever had.

Very nice! Thank you! The cinematic and very dramatic presentation in these scenes is really excellent, better than World, IMO. I also really like how they show that in 4U, you may be a hero, but you are no THE hero. The world lives on with or without you. You're just a hunter doing the best you can with your rag-tag team of of travelling craftsmen and mystery.

the scene of Zinogre being attacked by a bunch of Frenzy infected is terrifying in a way, The Virus works fast and anything will attack anything The Frenzy Virus bares similarities to the Rage Virus from 28 Days Later, including the inevitable expiration of the host after a brutal rampage across the lands

Its nice to come back to the game that Introduced me to the series. The story: Monster Hunter World has released. My brother has started to play it. I just got my 3DS, and went to Game Stop. No, for the regular fight, just make a lot of damage. And break the horn with dragonator for the story, goldbeard, and the beard drop can suck ass. But with a good talisman is one of the all around sets of the game.

Assuming you mean Ceadeus, not Goldbeard Ceadeus, - Just bring oxygen supplies, I forget if they force you to use Ancient Mask on Cha-Cha the first time. If not, use another mask. - Be aggressive Phase 1. He will not attack you for the most part. I'd say the best/easiest part to continously hit him on during this phase is the beard. The only scary times here are when he has to use the beam to break an obstacle. Be aware that there are times Ceadeus will need to stop to break something, even hipchecking it several times in a row. You don't want to be infront of it at those points lol - Phase 2, just learn where the water bubbles are, keep in mind that the supply boxes in front of you at the beginning are Rations, and observe that the Dragonator is behind you, up, and to the right. It'll look like a ledge with two spikes protruding out and a coin button on the ledge above them. DON'T use the Dragonator raw. That's because - Ceadeus will at some points just randomly ignore your ass, just slowly swim away from you, reach a specific point, and take like 2 minutes to swim on a scripted path that ends swimming from below the Dragonator to just above it. It'll be so painfully obvious that this is happening when it does. When you recognize it, just quickly swim to the Dragonator (so long as you dash, you'll definitely make it there before Ceadeus, no matter where you start out in the map at this point). Sharpen up, drink stuff, prance, and wait. The Dragonator is good for breaking the horn too. Just keep in mind it doesn't stop in front the Dragonator, it passes it from below to above. Learn the timing of hitting the switch to it shooting out (there is a delay). - The breaks: beard, back (just the top of Ceadeus, above/opposite the beard), horn (face counts as the hitzone for horn break, don't actually attack the horn lmao... also it's horn only breaks once), and tail (most annoying to actually break, although it doesn't take that many hits) - You can repel it. The quest timer is low but even if you don't repel it's breaks and HP carry over to the next attempt, I'm serious. It's a returning system from the older games. I'll be honest, in Tri, I took 4 attempts (roughly 2 hours) to beat Ceadeus my first one. I sucked ass though so you should be finee. It's not that hard to do in one go. Botttom line is, it's impossible to fail forever. If you cart/farcaster in Phase 2, keep in mind that to get back to the Phase 2 arena, there are different spots to jump off of that'll get you waaay closer to the arena entrance (you don't want to swim all of Phase 1 again lol). The proper one should get you right at the end of the area before the arena. - Carves: horn twice when it's broken off, body 6 times I believe, it's been awhile. No need to carve different body parts like Fatalis or Jhen Mohran, so I think you'll be safe watching the death camera. Just keep in mind that Ceadeus will pose in death like Royal Ludroth/Lagiacrus underwater; it'll have most of it's body vertically oriented, so if you were near it's head when it died you'll have to swim forward, to center mass to get carves. And that's it for regular Ceadeus. I won't spoil Goldbeard. Just enjoy the only appearance of regular Ceadeus, Low Rank village is the only time you'll fight him/hear The Lunar Abyss (Phase 1 music).

I reallly wish they would port this to the switch. While I do enjoy mhgu, I've had more people recommend 4U to me. However I never got as far as I wanted in that because I simply don't mesh well with the 3ds and its smaller screen. (I had little issue with the psp for example because I could hook it up to my tv). Smaller screens for game play are the dang bane of my existence ;_;
