hey @Arekkz Gaming, at 3:02 instead of kicking you can unsheathe the CB, do an X attack and immediately change into axe mode, you'll do a guard point which means that A) You won't take damage, B) you will charge your phials and C) a possible free hit on the monster :D

Here's some food for thought, since a monster gradually restores health while sleeping, consider bringing a poison weapon if you don't have/ aren't bringing another sleep weapon. The poison can reduce the healing during a sleep, if it gets poisoned before a sleep, as well as adding in a good amount of set damage over time.

ugh...don't use Barrel Bomb L, Use Large Barrel Bomb L+. "Don't hit it with the little bombs it's a waste" Yeah, a 300% damage difference IS noticable, so use the fucking L+. Also the Charge blade attack is a multi hit attack, so you are only getting a 2x boost on one part of the attack, the Large Barrel Bomb L+ will do more damage that that.

No matter how you time it only the first hit that connects gets x2 (or in the case of a bomb x3). It is near impossible to time it perfectly anyways and the reason for all GS users to attempt to do it at the same time has to do with positioning. Just putting it out there. Even if you'd land four hits at the exact same time only one of those hits would get the damage bonus. It has been tested numerous times with bombs going of simultaneously.

Charge blade is really good for this, SnS mode to put it to sleep, and this really strong attack in axe mode you used often in the video to wake it up. And the stun damage if you have a impact phial charge blade is easy to hit because it don't move during it sleep. And stun mean more time the monster can't move, so put it again to sleep and make a lot damage is easyer. And you can place a bomb that you can let explode with the attack. The bomb doesn't get the boost but it is still free damage.

Plesiperse Spike +, Bnahabra Hat (for style), Obituary thorax, Ioprey Vambraces, Tigrex Tassets Z, and Tetsucabra Greaves X. With the right charm and gems, it gives Status Atk +2, Trapmaster, Bombardier and Evasion 1. Sure the spike is weak in terms of sharpness and raw DPS, but being able to put out so many sleep bombs in one run (Bombardier gives 100% Combo success on barrel Combos) is hilariously broken. Just never use it in multiplayer. Ever. People apparently aren't used to having the monster go to sleep 10 times in a hunt...

one more thing to do is combine the barrel bomb L's with scatter fish to turn them into L+ bombs, with bombarder armor skill the bombs get much stronger and then theres the felyne pyro skill for more power!

***** Actually the felyne pyro skill from what ive seen does not actually power up LBB+ it just converts LBB to LBB+. It does improves blast elements though. The bomb boost skill does add a boost of about 1.3x

ON3xKN1GHTx5TAND You should use elemental properties on a Gs and not Status properties. Status weapons are best for DB,IG, and occasionally the lance. As these require fast attacking and more hits per second dealing more status damage allowing for more effects. A great swords a bit slow for that.

Status and elements scale with charges now and because of the quick side slap after rolling forward I can pretty much put something to sleep on command. Follow that up with some bombs and a level 3 wakeup and that sword gets faster kill times then a GS with an element.

Griswald yeah nah 400 sleep on a gs will still put a 140 to sleep twice and also allows you to set a trap when it wakes, sleep is arguably the best thing you can get on a gs

There is in 99,9999999999999999999999% a difference when they hit, so in the most time is 1 attack the first that hit and that get the boost, the others aren't the hits that let the monster wake up, and this mean they don't get the boost.

emanalastas It acts as a status in that it builds up as you accumulate blast "damage". Every hit has a third chance of applying the blast build up, like any other status, and once a monster-specific threshold is reached it will explode on the part of the monster you hit. The damage the explosion does is fixed so it ignores defenses like bombs do. For most monsters it will do 100 which is a little bit better than a large barrel bomb but for bigger monsters it could do 200 or 300, and on Mohran, 500. Blast only does only 50 to Molten Tigrex but I still find the Teostra Sword and Shield usable against him. Should also be noted that while it does act as a status effect, status attack up skill won't be helpful. You want bomb boost from bombardier if you want to apply more blast.

SILVERBRO13 I would say emanalastas is right. Faster weapons get more hits so your chances of applying any status or elemental damage is higher. Any weapon can work it but fast weapons like sns and db are usually a lot more reliable for it. I would say sleep or paralysis aren't bad for hard hitters though since it's not often you can get two off for those anyway. But status and element damage are flat and don't scale to how strong an attack is so it's best with weapons that hit a lot. Like for me my sns has been doing a lot better at applying blast than my blast lances ever could just because the combos do so many more hits. The heavy hitting weapons do sort of compensate by having higher status values but it still won't apply as fast but that does make it workable.

I just started using a Charge Blade, I'm still fairly new into the game even though I've played all the other MH games I haven't gotten far cause I kept getting distracted from playing. I usually use the Insect Glaive or Bow even though I'm out of practice with the Bow. I'm really glad you put this info down and also the one on upgrading the Kinsect in another vid.

Heres a great example for people of what a great sword can do to a monster mixed in with bombs. A great sword with 1905 attack has 396 raw damage. With the purple sharpness multiplier its 574 raw damage then if we add the crit multiplier it becomes 717 with the sleep bonus that becomes 1434 raw damage. Now lets add 6 Large Barrel Bomb +(150 raw dmage each =900) to that damage making it 2334 raw damage. Now if everyone had the bombardier skill we easily turn the 900 raw dmg of those bombs into 1170 raw damage + the 1434 raw damage of that greatsword = 2604 raw damage straight to the monsters health bar. Oh yeah and this isnt adding the multiplier of the monsters weak parts or defence.

+Isaac Gonzalez Challenger and Honed blade don't really affect shell damage. As for the damage, it'd certainly be a lot of damage and break whatever part they were aiming at, it'd still not be as much as a lvl3 charge damage x 2 + 8 large barrel bomb+s.

Does a monster's resistance to a status effect (after suffering it before) wear off after a while, like Mounting resistance? Or does it just become that much harder to put them asleep again no matter how long the fight lasts? I've been using the Nerscylla SnS and it's rare for me to even get a second sleep on anything by the time I kill it.

The threshold builds after a successful abnormal state is used. Each monster is different, probably the harder monsters have a high thresholds that get higher each time.

I just avoid taking sleep into randoms entirely. Somehow, even in fucking g+, people still can't understand the sleep effect. I don't know what goes on through an IG users mind when he believes performing a mount is correct... Also, more and more people are kicking IG users in GQ rotations, thank god.

Two things im not too clear about in MH4U, the first is how sharpness affects damage, i know some monsters will only be hit properly if the sharpness is high enough but if that is not a concern, is there not extra damage? if it is, by how much? will a weapon with higher base damage but less sharpness be weaker? The second is when a weapon shows an element or status effect in grey, im not sure if this is activated by a skill, or set off when certain conditions are met, for example, having three essenses with the kinsect glaive.

Because the fat hit isn't just one fat hit. It's multiple tiny hits. Like a shrapnel bombs. And no, even if you wake a sleeping monster with the upswing from the CB Ultra, the total damage will still be lower than waking it with a Greatsword.

Only one of your shrapnel is gonna wake it so for example sake lets say your wyvern fire does 200 damage (4 hits at 50 per hit) 50 x 200% sleep damage for the first hit plus 150 at normal damage (for the other 3 hits that dont do sleep damage) A greatsword is one hit so even if the greatsword is only hitting for 100 at charge 3 (highly unlikely but for examples sake) this is still 100x 200% which is more than your 50 x 200% Make sense now? you still have time to sneak a wyvern fire in once your GS or bombs have been detonated so reserve it for then.

Emishimaru - Sama Nope, only the first hit will get the boost. Even with multiple bombs detonating at the same time, only one with get boosted. Best thing you can do is stack as many bombs as possible anyways and then have a GS charge the monster on its weakest spot with somebody standing by to detonate the bombs with a kick while it gets up.

I'm pretty sure it's x3, but Wyverns Fire is a bit odd in that it's actually 4 hits in one, so only one hit gets the multiplier. Still, if ya don't have anything else, it's still better to get that off while it's safe and easy I guess.

Yes, it can be, you can use the bug to detonate bombs.

Sleep status can be useful on any weapon. I wouldn't suggest using your bug to detonate the bomb though, it may only hit one which will make the bombs go off out of sync; you'll get the 3x damage for the first bomb but not the second. If your bug is too fast it may also hit the monster before the bombs go off as well. Use either small barrel bombs or felvine bombs.

Also, if you're playing single player with felyne comrades/ palicos, once the bombs go off hit the monster with a felvine bomb. It will cause the monster to be "felvined" (you can tell from pink fumes that will come off of it) which will boost the palicos' accuracy with hitting the monster. Not sure if it also boosts damage but they help nonetheless.

TheNewSanchez287 you're not hitting enough. A paralysed monster looks like a shock trapped monster. It could also be that the monster is resistant to paralysis. FYI, the best status weapons are dual blades and sword and shield, because of their fast-hitting capabilities, but you shouldn't have any problem with a lance.

probably too late, but I can verify that sleep on an insect glaive is VERY good. the shrouded nerscylla glaive is great for sleep as long as your hitting consistently and not focusing on mounts, I would recommend attack hone to make up for its low damage. bombs can also be blown up with your pheromone shot, so if you mount then go in for the sleep, you'd usually get off the first sleep before the monster fully recovered from the mount.

+FOUNDaHufflepuff The wyvern fire is actually divided into several different layers, so only one of the layers will get the damage buff. This renders this method of waking very outclassed, and only recommended if not in possession of bombs, or a GS /CB. As for the bombardier, sorry to tell you this, but that doesn't help with GL damage; if I recall correctly, the only skill that directly boosts the GL's shot damage is artillery.

The food skill, as stated clearly in the description, boosts the damage of Gunlance shells, among other things. The armor skill however does not. The armor skill only boosts bomb damage, and blast damage, as in the status ailment. The armor skill you want for increased she'll damage is artillery. You probably know all this by now, but in case ya didn't.

you might mix up felyne bombadier and bombadier. artillery is the GL shot skill, bombadier is blast and bombs (and also 100% bomb combi rate) felyne bombadier as eating skill increses the shelling and wyvern shots

Axel -_- zzZ There is an armor skill called "Awaken" and its skill point lvl is called FreeElement FreeElmt for short i think. It awakens hidden elements in weapons. There is also the Arcana skill which awakens weapons and boost their elemental properties. Good example of armors with these skills are the Legend of Zelda Armor Heros Armor has awaken. Way too often, I'll be playing online and when the monster runs off to go rest, the first person to get there does like the weakest attack ever -- or like a weak jumping attack or something before I can get there and pop it in the face with a Super or Ultra Burst.... It ticks me off so bad that I think I made a chat command for "Fall back!" but I might need to make another one that is a bit more clear :T

BaneKaikyo Perhaps while in the Gathering Hall you can establish that to your teammates? Not that I'm defending them or anything; it should be pretty obvious to leave a sleeping monster to the hard-hitters. XD

+Lars Heijman Charge to red, then move all the charge to your shield. You do this by X+Y, & when the energy crackling animation begins, you press R button to move it all into the shield.

Lars Heijman Attack until all phials are full & red. Change to axe mode, press X & Y to initiate the attack animation, & press R to move it all into your shield. You'll notice your shield is now glowing red & you can charge even more. When you've charge some more & all phials are full & red & your shield is red as well, you can perform the ultra with X & Y from axe mode. It's a bit hard to explain, but once you move everything into your shield you should understand.

DaCaLsTa7777 the longsword mmultiplier is 3.3 so with a longsword that has say 1000 attk its raw damage would be 1000 divided by 3.3 = 303 raw damage.
