I would doubt that Doshaguma is the great Jagras of this game. He's the trailer monster. Trailer monsters are usually more mid-tier. Like, remember when the World trailers came out, it was mostly Anjanath and Anjanath is deliberately designed to terrify newby hunters in their first few hours. Rise started out with Tetranodon, who whilst not as tough and scary as Anjanath, also isn't a starter monster. I would for one assume that Chatacabra is almost certainly a lower tier than Doshaguma and that Chatacabra is, second, probably not the absolute lowest tier of monster. My guess would be that Chatacabra is probably the urgent quest to unlock the 2* quests and Doshaguma is for 3* quests - not one of the super big boys yet, not the same league as Rathalos or Diablos (and I'd be rather surprised if we didn't get Diablos since he's been in every game except for base MH4), but also a monster that will completely break someone who is still learning the basics. I think Doshaguma is meant to be the first big wall for new players. As for why Chatacabra is lower: It's smaller, solitary, not super fast, doesn't look to have the most range, but at the same time it looks too tough and weighty for a very first monster. Though there is a small possibility that the first monster is a Doshaguma, but not the big, red pack leader, but instead one of the smaller ones, who you maybe fight without the pack being around, basically like Seltas. As for other confirmed monsters: I'd be absolutely amazed if we didn't also get Rathian, since she's in literally every game and we do have confirmation of Rathalos.
@edsonfrias86886 ай бұрын
Yeah, he looks amazing for me. It kinda looks like a bear with the face of a naked mole rat.
@sinteleon6 ай бұрын
Though do note that Doshaguma does have pack members which appears to be significantly more threatening than the usual pack members you find in older MH games. The pack members could be used as the low tier "monster" entry hazard. Also might be the lighting, but when they mention the hunt is starting in the trailer, the Doshaguma we're fighting there doesn't seem to have the red-tinged fur around the head

@rin_okami6 ай бұрын
I mean, they could still be babies and it's just that they're by themselves. It's thought that some dinosaurs in real life occupied completely different ecological niches at different parts of their life cycles. It's possible they are babies of the larger raptors and it's a situation where the babies just hatch and immediately go off and do their own thing, no parenting necessary, and the other monsters aren't panicking because they're simply not a threat (yet).

I’m sure Doshgu is our Anjanath stand in for this game, it just makes sense to show off a stronger low tier monster to then show off new tech, in this case being the pack gameplay, if there is a super low Jagras tier enemy I think it’s probably that sand snake enemy as it easily gets knocked away by the alpha doshgu
@Sweet_Karma6 ай бұрын
I think there's some trickery at play. I'd wager that Doshaguma is actually the Anjanath of the Winward Plains except they're fanged grizzly beasts with a hierarchy and they hunt in packs. We'll probably meet the Great Jagras alongside the Flagship in the next trailer. I'm just struggling to see how Doshaguma is our first main big guy with how he's shaking off the snake wyvern and throwing around other monsters, he just looks too ferocious, big and agile but if I'm wrong then we're in serious trouble 😂💀
@darthplagueis136 ай бұрын
Agreed. I don't think they would make baby's first large monster such a prominent inclusion in the first real trailer. I imagine Doshaguma, just like Anjanath, is a monster that might occasionally show up in early hunts before you're ready to face it, just to scare new players a little.
@Sweet_Karma6 ай бұрын
@darthplagueis13 Yup, my thoughts exactly. The Hunter even hides from them in the trailer which can only mean he's not the first monster, he's the wandering bully of the Winward Plains. I reckon we'll have to fight four other big threats before Doshaguma if he's the Anjanath equivalent. In World we had to fight Great Jagras, Kulu-Ya-Ku, Pukei-Pukei and Tobi-Kadachi before Anjanath, so I imagine a similar thing for Doshaguma.

It seems based on the clothing and the style of the saddlebags on the Seikret that this is a native to the forbidden lands, and maybe even the individual which gives us Seikrets or shows us how to ride them. If that is the case then that implies Doshaguma isn't the first monster we fight, maybe 2nd or 3rd (sort of anjanath-y) since we see the hunter riding their Seikret during the cutscene. @Leuca.6 ай бұрын
Doshaguma is Anjanath - the bully of its environment that ultimately answers to a higher tier monster in the pecking order. I expect Chatacabra is a lower tier - maybe not Great Jagras but perhaps akin to Tobi Kadachi. Two main reasons I don't think that's a baby Pukei Pukei is the environment and its tail. In MHW Pukei seems to thrive in locales that are rich with water and the associated lush plant growth that comes with it, including ample tree/tree adjacent life (see Coral Pukei). They are a large version of seed spreading birds; there aren't going to be enough large, fruit bearing trees in the environment we find that little flier. Also, in flying creatures that have a tail it's very often a balance/stabilizing feature of the animal when in flight; it would be strange to have what would be an infant Pukei Pukei not be altricial when it lacks key physical features of the adult version, especially since we know from MHW that Pukei is a nest invader, implying that the babies need at least some sort of parental care post hatching. There's just too much potentially contradicting information imo.

I'm pretty sure that the unidentified sand monster is actually a Great/Drome equivalent to the crocodile leviathan that grabs the Delphidon and drags it off into the water. They have the same triangular headshape with pointed nose, as well as the same build to their bodies. It's just that the bigger one has more exaggerated and prominent spikes. Considering the monsters adapting to the changing environment is supposed to be a big focus in this game, it's likely the crocs turn to being sand-swimmers when their usual watering holes and mudpools dry up both to avoid the heat and still be able to hunt using their typical ambush strategies, just not to same degree of success as when doing so from water sources that are bound to draw in thirsty prey.

Yo you gotta check out the armour sets during the multiplayer but of the trailer cause I’m pretty sure one is the snake wyvern that was fighting the bear and the other is the bear

The hunter's armour is reminiscent of Pukei Pukei's. If the tiny critter is a juvenile Pukei Pukei, that speaks strongly to its return.

I don’t think Doshaguma is the entry level monster. Judging by its size, it’s more of a mid tier if not apex creature. The first will probably be the Chatacabra or another not yet revealed monster. I sincerely hope that it’s going to be a great version of the crocodiles in the river. However, Doshaguma may be the introduction into the large monster pack mechanic, which will bring along new styles of hunting it

0:22 how does something soo cute turn into a crazy toxic chameleon bird? ❤😂
@mrcamels36436 ай бұрын
If the sand monster is a large monster, then Doshaguma isn't the first large monster you hunt. They wouldn’t have the first large monster you hunt kill another large monster you haven't hunted.

Goss Harag for Ice biome hopefully?? Similar build to our new bear fellow

You missed 1 thing at the end, not JUST the baby Pukei, but the fact we see a dude wearing the Pukei Armor

The new raptors remind me of storks, especially since there are species of them that have evolved in reality to feast on flesh (I’m also reminded of the Jackals from one of the Halo games). The lion-bear things are kinda ugly but they fit the vibe, as does the gorilla-toad thing (least they’re something different and interesting). I’m getting a bit of an African savanna, Gobi Desert and Australian Outback vibe all around with how the desert area looks and how strange a lot of the monsters look.

The detail that makes me doubt the bird being a baby-pukei pukei is the tail. It's got almost no similarity to a fully grown pukei pukei
@GreenOfFields6 ай бұрын
That’s not necessarily a dealbreaker. Many animals in real life change dramatically as they age, T.rex is one of the best understood and famous dinosaur of them all and its juveniles were so different in proportion and head shape that they were long believed to be a separate genus (Nanotyrannus).

Thank you! I thought i was the only one that didnt see the pukei either, to me it's just one of those weird owls

@@sophie2644-l1jUnless its a smaller relative of Pukei because outside of the lack of a tail it has those suction cup wyvern wings

Meanwhile actual real life frogs having tails and gills during their infancy and losing them when turning into adults, also some bird species being born with claws on their wings and losing them once they learn to fly

I also agree that it isn't a baby pukei pukei. If you look at the feet, the bird thing has the usual bird feet, meanwhile pukei pukei have owl feet

Also, makes sense to call your pet sacred 'cause it's the most precious thing in the world. Don't know why I should call my pet secret?! I don't wanna hide it.

With how detailed this locale and its monsters are, I’m very excited to see more biomes. If leviathans are coming back, I want an ancient forest-y area which has part of it flooded and inhabited by water monsters. Also, seeing a massive herd of aptonoth in a jungle clearing is going to be a beautiful sight

A bit of a wild (ha) take, I don't know if this has been noted yet, but the Wilds Guild crest on the webset wallpaper seems to me to resemble Forokururu, but I'm probably just projecting a desire to see more Frontier additions to mainline

7:35 That mystery snake like monster in the sand looks an awful lot like a bigger version of what attacks that kestadon type monster at the river bank, the nose spike is visible while it's rolling the back scales and the positioning of the legs on the body, correct me if I'm wrong

@notenoughcatfoodone22706 ай бұрын
i wouldn't be surprised to see some sort of desert adaptation of Lagiacrus, would make sense since so many people want that monster, its a different- out of water setting and they should already have the skeleton. That could quite possibly be the "sand monster" we see for a few frames.

There's next to no chance that this'll happen but I really want the baby monsters to be able to be captured and raised after a few hunts or after a few mini games/side quests and it can become your new mount with special properties or it could be used for other tasks such as gathering resources or fighting other monsters for you?

Doshaguma's body looks kinda similar to Goss Harag so it could come back too
@vultar99996 ай бұрын
The leviathan/snake wyvern looks more leviathan to me based solely on the distance between its front and back legs. I'm also wondering if Chatacabra is the first monster. Handling one large monster would be much easier than a pack of them, in my opinion, and the Greatsword they're using against the doshagama looks like it has a water effect on it. I also wonder if the coloring on the doshagama is hierarchy related. Boss boy is the most red, two are more orangey, and the last is greenish. It's much more likely that it's just random (except for leader), but it would be cool if there was some kind of underlying reason for it. Also, I just noticed there's no damage numbers.
