It makes me wonder if monster like Rathalos will be more aggressive when chasing you, like shooting fireballs while flying at you towards your predicted location. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I want to see Rathalos dive like a hawk or eagle towards you while you're on your Seikret, like going up high folding his wings in and diving then spreading them out with his talons opening up as he swoops towards you at high speed.

Regarding Balahara I am pretty sure the fleshy mouth is to prevent it from eating and breathing in sand. It would need to have its mouth already open when it tries eating things on the surface so this would allow it do so, I presume it could also "hold" food inside the inflated pallet so that it can dive back into the sand with its food and then raise its head to swallow. This pallet could also be covered in cilia that could direct microorganism and small traces of living things into the stomach while repelling sand allowing it to subsidise its diet threw filter feeding. The bio bioluminescence could be to attract these, or small predators of these microorganisms or to simply help it see at night. Another use is that if enough of this blue light reflects off the sand back into the creatures eyes, it would open fewer eyes. Presumably as some sort of unconscious action to prevent its eyes being damaged by clouds of sand, this would likely occur more so during pursuit when more dust is kicked up rather then when prey is exhausted and it would pass threw smaller sand clouds, but also sand storms when it would relying on vibration detection. The pallet, plus the tooth like grabbers could also be used as some sort of vibration detecting sensory structure, it is the right shape for it. The scallop like eyes and the the fleshy layers between the tooth like grabbers also makes some sense, since if you can relatively easily lose eyes to sand having a bunch more is good. Plus the space between tooth like grabbers seems to have folds that could cover up the eyes when under the sand. While not entirely fully researched it also seems like having multiple eyes is useful for having a higher temporal resolution(rate at which time is perceived) so for an animal that only has a short time out of the sand this would definitely help it catch prey. Personally I think/hope that all of these are true, it is rare for an adaption to appear out of nowhere and as a result biological features often achieve multiple things.

While I'm not really a fan of the 'hyper-realistic' look Wilds is carrying on from World, which I didn't really like there either. I will say the monsters so far have easily helped keep me hype for this. The sheer willingness to have THREE classifications of monsters take the lead in showcasing the game that weren't in Base World, and only one of them was in Iceborne even. World's very safe, same-y roster is easily one of my biggest issues with it, so the fact that they're going all-out with more unconventional designs and monster classifications really keeps me invested and hopeful that that issue with World won't be repeated with Wilds.

I disagree on the first comment on realism, but completely agree on the roster. World is basically just flying wyvern, brute wyvern, fanged wyverns. Regarding Balahara, I sure hope we get an explanation for what the light from its mouth is and what its purpose is as I am somewhat at a loss. If it's to help it see in the dark then its odd that the light is also used in broad daylight. Perhaps it is to help the rest of the group identify fellow Balahara very quickly even in sandstorms or in chaotic situations. I also wonder if there is a purpose to the inside of its jaws being so bulbous and fleshy. Seems like it could get in the way of grabbing food, but perhaps there is another reason for it.

"I also wonder if there is a purpose to the inside of its jaws being so bulbous and fleshy." Probably a function akin to a car's airbags, to dampen the impact, since this thing lunges at it's prey at pretty great speeds with it's mouth wide open, which might otherwise hurt it's triple jaws. Edit: And it might also serve as additional surface area that upon contracting back into the mouth helps with dragging the prey inside.

2:45 Best description of this bear yet. This dude is like our anjanath, we got no flagship yet but he's everywhere. He may be our great jagras or maybe something bigger, like anjanath, but he's a huge part of this game's identity. For the pack feature, they let it slip that every locale will have4 at least 2 large monsters that use this mechanic. I can't wait to see all the unique pack interaction and AI, hopefully they are just a varied and unique as great izuchi was. The fact that the first 3 new monsters are; a bear, a frog with the gorilla skeleton, and a lagi shaped leviathan has so many of us hyped for the monster variety in WIlds. A lot of us complained that World's variety just wasn't there. That was do to them focusing on the new style of game... And the engine issues with MT framework. I hope small vs. large monster turf wars a more fleshed out. Imagine zamites or giggis swarming and latching onto a large monster, drinking its blood, and poisoning it in the case of the giggis, until they shake off the swarm. I wonder how chatacabra's glue will work, is it like velkhana's magical ice that traps your feet but forces you to do a dance so shields are useless too, when they shouldn't be. They treid making scary looking monsters since MH1, they failed spectacularly but they tried. I'm of course talking about khezu. Then, some tiem after his utter failure and meme status of dick wyvern/"ugly-cute", they tried again with gigginox. Gigginox did this well but, for some reason, we haven't seen him since 3U. I hope he comes back, especially with what giggis could do for the small monster turf wars, because it's been too long. Balahara seams like they finally have the scary monster design down. He's a tripple jawed sand worm leviathan, with the lagiacrus shape, that fires mysterious greenish black goo. I really want to know what that stuff does, is it tar from 4th gen or something new? I've also been begging, since before Iceborne, for monsters to use the environment with traps and stuff that exclusively harm the hunters, and not them, or both. Yes, narga needs this, let him sleep in a tree. No way the railgun wyvern is not going to have some astalos style wing attacks wit hthsoe blades. There's no way he's, literally, only out with the storm. Maybe you have to find and agro him during it but once he's agroed he'll likely just fight you with alterations to his move set depending on the state of the map.

I'm kinda sad that a lot of people don't seem to like the monsters designs in Wilds, because I'm already not only loving the monsters themselves, but even the variety. Wilds, having more development time than World and not having to start from zero like World, (and not taking ONE FULL YEAR of development for Zorah Magdaros) will definitely have a better roster than World and it's not gonna be close. Also I want to say that small monsters seem to be cool too in this game, like the first Wilds monster that we saw was a LIGHTNING ROD HERBIVORE. Btw it was confirmed that pack monsters have a different type of design, they are intentionally more grounded and I guess for some people "boring", because of course having a pack of things like Rey Daus, Zinogres and Glavenuses might be more out of place and overwhelming than bears and worms. I'm also hoping this game focuses more on subspecies, with the amount of interaction Wilds has they have potential to be very cool and different from the base monsters,, even the "boring ones from 1/2 gen".

Pterosaurs are relegated to the wingdrake category now, but yeah, it would be cool to see a large monster wingdrake. Azhdarchids especially are ripe to be used as a basis for a MH monster. Also, what the franchise lacks and absolutely needs is a late game raptor bird wyvern. Something the size of a Great Jaggi or just a slightly bit larger, but with incredible speed, nimbleness and intelligence to be able to be considered a major threat even to much larger monsters like Rathalos. Basically Indoraptor: MH edition.

Man, what a great video! So many points and just absolutely turned my thoughts and views on their heads 🤣. I 100% ABSOLUTELY agree with you that if Doshoguma is the peak of the spotlight that they're opening with, theres NO TELLING just how EPIC the rest of the roster, and even the Flagship, is gonna be! I love Dosh's design. The biggest, burliest, gnarliest bear u could imagine. Just a grizzly on steroids, juiced to the gills, im so pumped to throw hands with this guy, and i can only hope, the rest of the roster DELIVERS! Capcom is standing on BUSINESS for this game, and i couldn't be more excited to see what's coming!

Honestly, I liked him quite a bit anyway but Balahara having calm inspirations saved him for me. Cause at first I thought the split jaw thing was a little too much. But when I saw his eyes and realised this was meant to be a clam leviathan, I was like “of course he has a split jaw.” If you’re gonna introduce the first clam inspired monster in the series, why not go big with it right? Since you called attention to it, I thought about them a little bit more and honestly, the raygun wyvern’s wings are some of the best wings I’ve seen on any flying monster let alone flying wyverns. And I also hope that they didn’t just use Rathalos’ old sound for the reveal trailer, his sound design was superior in the old world.

Those wings look so fuckin cool dude. And yeah I got my fingers crossed that they just improve the classic sounds for the Raths. The new sound package just ain't as good

17:13 I did some thinking. Rathalos is not normally find in desert biome. Mostly forest, mountains and place with lava. It is safe to crossout mountains and lava as the next regions to show, becuase they are to similar to desert biome. I think forest will be are second location in wilds were we fight Rathalos for the first time.

Im imagining the double rath fight on the scale of gold and silver. If they have anything like their rise iteration in wilds expansion it will be NUTS to see them add some combination attacks and group combos to those beasts.

Bit of a theory I had with the monsters they’ve shown off already is that, they where mostly designed to show off the new engine. The first one is basically just a big clump of fur that flows all over the place and the leviathan actively uses and shapes the terrain more than we’ve seen before. The herbivores being lightning rods and later finding out there’s a wyvern that can do this too just adds to that theory. I have no doubt the next biome we see will probably have new monsters front and centre that really utilise the new engine as well

Regarding base game difficulty, my main desire for Monster Hunter games is some sort of optional difficulty boost. I and I am sure others, want to savour the early game and get the same enjoyment out of it as the late game, and having an option that lets one enjoy it longer would be nice. It seems like the best bet is using the dials that event monsters have, a slight down time decrease, an extra 20% or so health, a bit of a damage boost and while not an event monster feature having a minimum damage value on its attacks so that accidently out armouring is not possible. Having this limited to just singleplayer is totally fine, and it would be completely optional with no bonus beyond choosing to challenge yourself a bit more, also if restocking is back this option difficulty boost could disable it. I would think of this as a toggle, you wouldn't be locked into it, you could just turn it on if the monsters start feeling to easy and you don't want to craft some lower defence armour to feel in danger again. I will admit I post this concept around a fair bit, but if enough people see it and ask for it, it might be something that could actually be added. I think that this is possible as I am fairly sure it would be a very low cost/time addition since it would use the same framework as event monsters just with the addition of minimum damage values.

I’ve definitely warmed up to Balahara and especially Doshaguma’s designs. The hard part for me was that they didn’t have very visible eyes. Still not a huge fan of Doshaguma, but his fight is likely to change that. Balahara looks so dang interesting to fight! I can tell that Mr. Railgun wyvern might be reserving a spot in my plush collection assuming he gets one. I hope that having a Gunner weapon and/or using that mounted gun isn’t required for many fights. It would be disappointing as someone who doesn’t feel like I engage with the monster much when using a ranged weapon.

Doshaguma and Balahara, the pack monsters, are made with a different art designee philosophy then the normal monsters like Chatacabra. So them not looking like a typical monster is intentional.

Yeah all the monsters we've seen so far are gnarly and cool. Honesty i can't wait to see what else we will see. Also if we get crossovers back again i would actually like to see Xenomorphs appear in the game. The pack mechanics would definitely work wonders with them. Alongside the possibility of large monster Xenomorphs coming from different hosts. Mind you it probably would just be only 2 or 3, since its a crossover and not a main thing. (Also hoping their Acid Blood naturally puts defense down and also makes weapons dull faster if they get in)
@cr-volcanic5 ай бұрын

@buragi54415 ай бұрын
"Also if we get crossovers back again i would actually like to see Xenomorphs appear in the game." No, please leave things that are not from MH out of MH. World's title updates got hurt by having basically half of them feature event crossover monsters, taking those valuable spots from actual MH monsters.
@NickRex-po8ob5 ай бұрын
@buragi5441 Its just something I would like to see. Now do I think it will actually happen, no. Crossovers like the way they did it in World have potential but the main problem was them trying to make the gameplay loop not MH. The negative feedback from the way they did it pretty much makes the chances of World-Like Crossovers very small and I do understand why. Your correct in saying that that those specific things hurt the updates. I just think if they didn't try to change the Gameplay loop it would've been received better. Though there's no need in crying over spilt milk I guess.

Doshaguma seems to be about that life. Win or lose, his hands have free shiping to your head. Also he appears to be quite the high tier monster since I'm under the impression that he killed the Balahara in the cinematic before fighting us. The beautiful ugliness of Wilds is something we absolutely need. The world is dangerous and fearsome, but the 5th gen additions don't really show it up. Odogarons, Magnamalo, Viper Tobi and Goss Haarag showed things could get dicey, but now we can tell getting lost in the Winward plains means death. On a second note, I'm really curious about what Rathian could be like, 'cause it's time for her to get some real flowers. I'm talking about poison everywhere, the head spikes, the wing talons she could use like Aknosom and Malfestio, the tail swipes.I mean, she gotta use the poison she was given. She also needs to bait you into he backflips so that they become truly dangerous. I also need World's Weapon master's Rathian armor 'cause I feel we got robbed of this magnificent set.

This is actually a perfect map for a Frontier monster: Kuarusepusu. A monster that already had some dual hunt coordinated attacks, so it would fit in with the new mechanics Wilds brings and it was a monster that inhabits both the deserts and a Frontier exclusive highlands area that is known for weather changes, which affect the way the monster functions. And it just so happens that the weather there was changing from sunny to a thunderstorm, exactly what the Wilds map has.

Two monster classes that weren't in World at all, and one that only had a single member in Iceborne. As for the appearance of the monsters themselves, honestly I really like the gritty, gnarliness they're going for. IMO it pull off the feeling that these are newly discovered animals in uncharted territory far better than some of World's monsters.

Realistic vs fantasy, animal vs anime, when it comes down to it I think what matters most to me is that the monster looks like a “character” and so far only the amphibian really gives me those vibes. Compare Balahara to Khezu and even Gigginox and see where the differences in design impact lie. I’m not talking about biology, but iconography. We’re only 3 monsters in though, plenty can change. The thing is that they look way out of place in Monster Hunter, for me they feel generic, ugly and boring, the Balahara feels like your generic sci-fi giant sand worm like the ones trom dune or that one from a Halo map and the amphibian looks it was pulled straight out of Star Wars; I'm not against grounded monsters but when looking at them without any Capcom or monster hunter logo, they simply look like creatures from other franchises... Even the Seikret has a more charismatic design and it has an overall Monster Hunter vibe, and it's the freaking mount!

A crossbreed between Deviljho and Rajang is a Star Wars monster?? Balahara is generic?? Some inherent biases might be speaking here, as these don't sound like legitimate opinions. What you accuse these monsters of, many others from the series would need the same criticism. Also it's kinda nonsensical calling a design as "not MH" since MH monster designs are extremely varied and diverse both in visuals and themes.
