I recommend trying insect glaive too, that’s my main... once you get the flow of using your kinsect to power up it’s super smooth. Setting up a ton of dust clouds around a monster and helicoptering your way through them (causing them all to go off at once) is unbelievably satisfying.

@freohr7895 жыл бұрын
ugh I just love the insect glaive and use it all the time. I think it would be better to learn from experience because it has so much to it but if you still want to read my thoughts on it, I just really feel like talking about it ;u; the thing I love about this weapon the most is it makes me have to think fast because it gives me a lot to think about. Like... a LOT. Like if you've checked the video and saw that 5* complexity rating it's not lying. That's usually only best for you once you've gotten used to the game, weapon, and monsters. but I find once you reach that point of familiarity this weapon becomes really satisfying once you've gotten things down, especially when you discover new aspects to it that you never knew/realized before. I've found that happened to me a _lot_ when picking up this weapon. With the insect glaive, you have to manage getting attack output, focusing on keeping your buffs up, managing you kinsect's stamina (which actually becomes way easier with the spirit kinsect that some slinger ammo gives it, thank you iceborne) and making sure it stays marked on the monster so it can keep dropping clouds all over the place. You also want to use the vaulting for mobility (with the white buff it gives really nice mobility without having to put the weapon away) or gaining height with out-of-reach flying monsters or raised parts that you might want to break OR vaulting to dodge attacks once you recognize monster patterns enough to realize you are about to get crushed to death OR vaulting to build mounting damage onto the monster. As everybody else always says to those who ask about the glaive, don't just jump around all the time, because the glaive builds up the best damage on the ground! Another thing I discovered is don't be afraid to spam your bug attack at the monster when it's way out of reach/fleeing and you need time to catch up with it. Just gets some minor damage accumulating on it, but I've also discovered sometimes I can accidentally flinch the monster (and on rarer occasions, break one of its parts with the bug). Definitely be sure to keep upgrading your kinsect so it can become more effective. Main point is, don't neglect to think about your little buggy!! You definitely will need to get used to the weapon, but once you do, focusing on all of that during battle is much easier than it sounds :b I'm quite aware that I've possibly scared off a bunch of people with those paragraphs because not everybody wants to manage so much at once and those who watch this video are potentially very new to this game. But I'm at least hoping to reach out to the others who are like me who enjoy being given a lot to think about in games like this! I feel like that's one aspect of this weapon I rarely see explained to people. All I ever see is "je suis monte." :b
@Thor-Orion4 жыл бұрын
freohr789 yeah, Insect Glaive and Switch Axe are like tied for my secondary weapon. I’m a charge blade main, but i love weapons that enable you to have vast depth in the multitude of styles you’re able to utilize with just one weapon.
@drewfoster61384 жыл бұрын
The idea of the glaive producing the best dps on the ground is outdated tbh. If you build the weapon correctly it hits big numbers from the air aswel as the ground, giving allround play. I usually hit 3(160-230) for using the R2 slam out of the air on a monsters tenderised head, plus I use blast, stun insect to either increase a free 300 blast damage number or create stun build up, works amazingly (3 circle ground attack will probably do about 350 damage total and airbound circle will do in the region of 200-350 attack depending on how many hits connect... However it leads to the slam whereas the triple circle ground attack is a finisher, so airborne for continuously higher dps ☺️ hope this helps
@SepticFuddy5 ай бұрын
Way late but I found that as a complete noob abusing aerial let me ease into reading the monsters by giving me more escape options. As I got towards HR I started paying more attention to extracts, actually using the canteen, QOL armor skills and better crafted items. As I got into MR I was able to transition to more ground/DPS-focused play, slinger buffs, clutch claw, equipment, and monster-oriented decos. I don't think there's anything wrong with jumping straight into IG because you really don't need to get into its complexity before you're ready to take that next step. Plenty of time to get familiar with the basics first.

If your friends like the speed run playstyle, the bow, heavy bow gun, and greatsword are some of the more popular solo speed run weapons. All weapons can be used for speed runs of course, but it seems these weapons are more popular and have the faster completion times.
@Ty-mu2on5 жыл бұрын
You didn't mention other changes to the HH, like the faster walking and turning speed while playing a note. The right swings speed was also increased slightly. Echo bubbles weren't brought up or explained either.
@Yuko-ez8fb5 жыл бұрын
Echo bubble is something he could've mentioned I agree. However the speed increase to the animations aren't necessary. The video was to talk about how the weapons work in a somewhat beginner friendly way while you're talking about patchnotes. If that were the case, he'd have to go through every tiny change made to weapons in the recent announcement.
@Ty-mu2on5 жыл бұрын
@@Yuko-ez8fb That's true, I thought he was going to be going indepth explaining the changes of every weapon. I only use HH so I knew nothing of the other changes. When he got to HH I figured he just explained less. I do still think that the walking speed while playing notes should have been addressed since that lack of mobility might have turned players off from the hunting horn in the past.
@Yuko-ez8fb5 жыл бұрын
@@Ty-mu2on I gotcha. I mainly use LS but I've used everything but the bowguns. The speed increase would've been nice to know but again that's more of a tech thing. It's also possible that this was recorded before those changes can out because there was some things bout the GL left out like the guard point, increase speed in new reload animation, and getting your slinger ammo back if you miss the wyvern mine move. There was quite a few thing from other weapons missing but I believe he was just going over the moveset and playstyle of the weapons than an actual in depth analysis of how they work

@@Yuko-ez8fb You're right, I had expectations that I was going to learn something new mechanicwise.

@@Ty-mu2on Greatsword: increase Elemental and Stun value on most attacks. While jumping attack got a decrease in those same categories. Longsword: gets nerfed basically and foresight slash requires meter for hyper armor. Dual Blades: decrease to Elemental value(because Elemental damage is getting an overall both) Bow: Gets nerfed basically. Charged blade: gets an overall buff however AED and SAED gets a damage nerf. Hunting Horn: you already know Hamner: increase stun value That's all ik from memory. There was changes to the insect glavie and bowguns but I don't remember what they were.

Alex mentioned in video this was just an overview and that a lot of nuances were not discussed. As a MHW player you would know a full weapon showcase is at least 10 minutes for one weapon. happy hunting.

How to fight with a hammer: Step 1: get the damage buff Step 2: bonk bonk bonk bonk /dodge/ bonk bonk SLAM Step 3: charge up to lv 3 and do more bonkin'. Sometimes you can stagger a monster multiple times in a row so you can continue to bonk the devil out of it. Step 4: get pissed at sky monsters when you run out of flash pods, lookin at you, my ol' buddy, my ol' pal, Rathalos.

Such a great Video! I am new to the game and after i(somehow) got past the PC bug,i went and tried most of the weapons in the training area with the Charge blade as my current one, but might give the Heavy Bowgun and some of the others a spin as well in the future since what u showed really looked awesome!

I don't even use aerial moves that much; I just love the Insect Glaive for its massive reach, fast attacks and good combination of horizontal and vertical strikes that can be chained together seamlessly once you have a Red charge. Plus, the kinsects are cute.

I cannot emphasise how important picking the right weapon for your playstyle is important to enjoy monster hunter I first tried the game a year ago with the switch axe, didn't like it very much and dropped the game after 20 ish hours Tried it again with the longsword and i fell in love! I love how much uptime you get and how agressive you can play when using your foresight slash/iai spiritslash counters, as well as your fadeslash to reposition yourself while dealing damage

It actually can do fairly high damage with the right setup. Slicing ammo alone is very powerful, but the easiest to use is one of the guns with the multi-shot perks. Buff up right, and they can do some serious damage.
