IMO Great Jagras is incredibly good. It's obviously a cake walk for vets but it's really good for new players, it's punishing enough to teach players that this isn't a brainless hack n slash but not too punishing that they quit.

Jagaras pukei and kulu are my favorites by far. Less is more imo, Kirin was ok and ratholos was too. Other than that I didn’t like any of the iceborn monsters too much.

He's also the least hunted monster in IB (yup even the "fish" are more hunted than him). I feel like scarred was a last minute addition: no armour set and only drops one new material plus base Yian-garuga doesn't have a set bonus (should've been resentment secret) moreover its icon doesn't appear in it's intro cinematic against Deviljho (I know it's super minor but I really wished that was fixed with all the patches/updates we've gotten).

I hated every minute of the Leshen fight. Now admittedly I did it very late (literally last week) so I had to solo it. But being stuck with crappy weapons and gear and taking 48 minutes to complete the quest made me so mad that I will never fight him ever again. I don't hate any of the monsters I will happily fight them all, except those two. But I knew when he said there were 66 monsters to go through that he had forgotten the Leshens.

Zorah Magdoras is worse. At least with Lao there was tension when he got to the second fortress if you were to do it solo; as you were constantly worrying about fortress integrity. With Zorah there wasn't a single moment of that. Capcom actually managed to make a siege more boring than Lao-Shan Lung.

I know a lot of people will disagree with me but Bazel is one of my favourite monsters in the game, with his visual and sound design most likely being where my bias comes from, I'm always a fan of destructive power and his biology of dropping explosive seed-bombs is, as far as I've seen, quite a unique gimmick, plus the amount of times his insatiable need to fuck with every other monster in the area has actually helped me progress is actually kinda ridiculous, he's a complete badass, and when I saw his Iceborne variant I just fell in love with him even more, also the weapons and armour of both variants look cool as heck

For me Gold Rathian is a whole Tier of her own which is Tier G. The goddess tier. Before every hunt I pray to my Goddess Gold Rathian for her Divine Blessing. When I fight challenging monsters she always watches over me and gives me Divine blessing at crucial times with attacks that would normally destroy me and for that I thank her for all of her divine power to keep her apostle safe from harm. Whenever I fight Gold Rathian it is a test of faith to see if I am still worthy of receiving her Divine Blessing and must prove my worth.

In terms of looks alone, Shara Ishvalda is top dog, both forms, one is a mountain you hit with sticks, the other one is a nightmarish demon dragon. Diviljho is a giant pickle with ridiculously small arms, also it needs an orthodontist.

Teostra is fine. A bit of a boring easier than expected fight but its not badly designed or anything... Lunastra and Kushala on the other hand have very bad design with the fire puddles on one and constant flight plus ridiculous head trip on the other. Kirin is A tier tho for sure. She teaches you so much about evading and when to strike. Fighting her is either a 5min breeze or hell. Really well designed especially in world

Styngian Zinogre is everything I hate in a boss fight and is the definition of power level mess up. He has literally no openings. He has insane movement and combo speed for a monster as massive as him and with his big body covering most of my view, I have to rely on my instincts way more than compared to any other monster while fighting because more than half the times while fighting him, due to his massive body combined with his combo and movement speed, I can't see shit. He also tends to keep on spamming his dragon elemental attacks almost any damn time whether they be reinforcing his physical attacks or him doing AOE damage. Often times he will do them both so even if you shoulder tackle, guard or dodge, you get destroyed anyways. There is never any opening on him unless he does his signature. 3rd issue is that he is built unfairly like a tank with lots of health and defense. You would think that with any of the stuff I mention he would at the very least have average health but that ain't the reality. His speed with a massive body covering your vision and no openings with constant AOE spamming would already keep you busy shoulder tackling, guarding and dodging but when you do get your chance to fight back, the next thing you know your damage doesn't means anything even with Critical Boost. Combine any of that with the 2 hit killing damage he does with any of his attacks no matter how much defense you have and you have the cherry on the cake for power level mess up. These are the reasons why Shibata Katsuie is the most hated boss in Nioh 2 because he has anything Styngian Zinogre has which is power level mess up. He makes Kushala Daora look fair and that's sad. There should always be a give-and-take in boss fights and if there's only strictly one of either of those two, then that's a bad boss fight. I really wanna know what was going on in the minds of the creators when they created him thinking that he would really be fun to fight because there is absolutely nothing fun about fighting him.
