So, Julie has a house full of people and no one else can take her to the hospital? Don't. Spend. The. Night. That's what happens when you cry, "wolf."

yesss its exactly as the old story of young shepherd and wolf

I wouldn’t be surprised if she fell down the stairs on purpose so her son would come over.
@renadu304 ай бұрын
My thought exactly, her really hurting herself on the third time seems too convenient for it to be a mere coincidence or accident, imo.
@M.W.24 ай бұрын
I was thinking the same thing. She called with a fake illness, they didn't pick up on purpose so she hurt herself to guilt them with moving in the house for real. With these crazy overbearing people you never know the lenghts they will go to

its like those people who call 999 repeatedly for minor reasons and they get annoyed when 999 doesn't take their calls seriously
@emily.letsendbslintheuk5544 ай бұрын
Totally agree, I admit if I ever say to family I need a ambulance they know I'm critical (sadly I have alot of medical issues but I hate having to call 999 as I always think they have real emergencies to deal with) but then there are many people who break a nail and think they need to call 999 😞

I’ve come to understand that when people say “family”, they mean them. They mean don’t abandon or leave them, that you are not allowed to have your own life and build a new “family”without them and if you do then you are betraying your them. These people are broken and devastated. They need therapy not just family.

@jenniekham58384 ай бұрын
She aint overbearing she is controlling thats the difference an overbearing person is a person who cares for u and wanna always be there and protect u always viewing u as a child no matter how capable or old u are , she has a need to control her sons and ops life and them not living w them makes it harder and is actuvely against her ,so she cant stand it thats why she uses all the gaslighting guilttripping and manipulation An overbearing mother will eventually understand and support u once she ralise u are safe in the decision u make a controling mother dont care u are her pawn and u gotta do all she wants u to do

She probably pulled similar stunts to force them to move in. No normal couple wants to live with their parents during such a delicate and intimate period of their lives. Only perverts look forward to living with their newly wed children.

We had a very similar situation happen. Some people were so angry and expected us to feel bad about it. We received 27 different lies of false emergencies before we finally ignored her. Turned out she really did injure herself and we ignored her not knowing that. I work in emergency medicine and left work several times, got no sleep rushing over and staying over night to playing personal nurse to her .... and doing so Knowing she was lying. Some people were angry and aggressive about it and said we should feel bad. My Husband did feel bad but I just never could bring myself to care. I did so much for her and the rest of his family and had been treated like crap over and over. I told him we had no reason to feel bad and I just can't care any more. It only took about three more times of her lying about something and him rising over to help her all night and day for him to get the picture.

OP's and Mark's constant apologizing is infuriating. They let this go on for way too long and should have gone NC or LC much sooner. I get that Mark has been brainwashed his whole life so it's probably very difficult to break free, but man. Every time they apologize or even seek some sort of meek compromise they only make that nasty MIL's resolve twice as strong; they pour fuel on her fire. Rip that band-aid off once and for all and stop talking to her. It'll sting for a while but then it's over and done with.

There is a saying in German: "Wer einmal lügt, dem glaubt man nicht, auch wenn er dann die Wahrheit spricht." Wich roughly translates to : "If someone lies once, they aren't trusted again. Even if they then tell the truth." The mother lied multiple times about being ill/ injured, and everyone knew it. Of cause people will stop believing her.

Frick off. People deserve to have peace and quiet especially with someone like Mother-In-Law crying wolf. She created the situation. You're the AH in this regard. Common sense would dictate that this was the result of Mother-In-Law's actions and that it is not okay to lie about being sick. It's a good way to get permanently blocked.
