I HIGHLY recommend going to a NHRA drag race or monster truck show. The amount of noise these machines make shakes the earth under you. Insane amounts of horsepower that you won’t be able to get enough of.

Tractor Pulls are another fun one. 😋
@BigMateo244 ай бұрын
Monster trucks have come a long way from where they started back in the 80's. Back in the day, the place to see them were at tractor/4x4 pulling competitions. Tractor pulls used to be a big deal back then. At the end of the night, they would line up a few junk cars, and they'd have one, maybe two trucks come out and crush them. They could barely run over the cars without breaking, eventually technology and advancements in design led up to this where they are capable of some pretty extreme stunts. I'll never forget being 5 years old and seeing Dennis Anderson's original Grave Digger coming to town and crashing into the wall at my local fairgrounds. Left a huge crack in the cement wall that is still there to this day. Grave Digger and Bigfoot were the two kings, and are still the two most legendary trucks.

Bob Chandler the man who started Bigfoot the original monster truck said in the 80s "back in the day saftey to us was a seat belt and a cowboy hat" lol

Some of the safety features are a specially-constructed roll cage that is built to house the driver, who usually sit's directly in the middle. Specially constructed seats that mold to the driver's shape. There also a receiver for a Remote Ignition Interrupter (RII). A signal can be sent by officials to shut off the truck and every truck has a switch located at the rear on the frame. If you ever have a chance to go I recommend getting the Pit Pass so you can get a closer look at the trucks and pics with the drivers. Took my son and his friend when he was younger. It was a great experience. Keep the videos coming!!

I've been watching monster trucks my whole life and after watching this compilation I realized one thing: With all the rolling, bouncing and falling over they do monster trucks are just pandas with wheels.🤣🤣🤣
@nathanpark10584 ай бұрын
The tires on those trucks can be turned independently of each other. The funniest one to watch is the one with floppy dog ears. Kind of reminds me of the van on Dumb and Dumber.
@tquiring2123 ай бұрын
With the Monster Jam guys, there were 2 guys who were known for getting absolutely insane. Tom Meents in Maximum Destruction and Dennis Anderson in Grave Digger. Those 2 especially were known for pushing the boundaries of what those trucks could do and didn't really worry about the consequences. And side bonus, every Grave Digger body is hand painted, or at least used to be, and features a number of headstones with the competitors truck names on them.

If you ever get the chance, Monster Trucks is somthing that everyone should get to experience at least once in their life. The feel of the power of these things and when they land you can feel it all the way through your whole body. It really is an experience. 👍👍👍👍

@MGower44653 ай бұрын
The bizarre part is, the air pressure is so low in the tires, track workers have been run over and not suffered more than bruises and scrapes. These trucks used to be modified pickups off the showroom floor, and actually still had doors and seats inside., but now they are completely custom and drivers enter from underneath. Most sit in a seat with its own suspension system and harness independent of the vehicle to a substsntial degree.

It honestly dont always look like much to outsiders, but monster trucks is one of those things that becomes cooler once you actually statt to "appreciate the physics" of how such a big machine can do flips (intentionally or not) or bounce around on 2 tires and still end up upright

I went to a monster truck show 25 years ago or so and it was a blast. If I remember correctly Bigfoot was in the middle of a monstrous season. When it was just about racing and getting around a track he was always tough to beat. If I remember correctly the owner kind of walked away when it just basically became a crash up derby. Grave digger I believe was just starting to take over the scene.

These things are impressive pieces of machinery. They each have a supercharged Chevrolet V8 displacing 540 cubic inches (8.85 liters) and output around 1500 horsepower and 1100 lbs-ft if torque! They ride on specialty balloon tires, making it able to kind of bounce and help cushion the landing after a jump. They all have a reinforced tubular structure underneath the thin sheet metal, protecting the driver and the engine - which is placed backward and to the rear of the truck. These are not cheap vehicles to buy or maintain - the engine alone costs around $50,000 to replace!

Now you need to look for Super Modified and Super Stock 4x4 truck pulls. Just brutal sounding engines. Make sure it is Gas/ petrol as you know it. They do Diesel truck pulls as well. But I just like the sound of these huge super high revving gas engines.

Highly recommend a video showing Ryan Anderson's truck control
I used to watch back in the 90s, and there was a lot more racing, both drag and on a figure-8 course, which was NASTY. Anyways, Grave Digger (the green truck) is my eternal favorite. The original driver, Dennis Anderson, is one of the OGs of monster trucks. The freestyle stuff *is* awesome, though.

Monster trucks are all cage. Bodies are either inexpensive polycarbonate or abs. Most average round 1500 horsepower and weigh between 10,000 and 15,000 lb. The roots go back the 1970s with Bigfoot out of Missouri. Most are using customized military axles with much stronger planetary gears. Bigfoot 18 holds the longest jump at 208 ft. 🚜🤠🐂
@Ozarkprepper6433 ай бұрын
Side note about their bodies. I have a barn full of classics. I have taken to molding most bodies in polycarbonate. Car bodies typically take less than $500 in material and can weigh less than 100 lb. Polycarbonate bodies can be used as is or used as molds for composites.

These things are incredibly over engineered that they have full roll cages, multiple kill switches one for the driver and a remote one for someone on the floor. The suspension travel is ridiculous. On top of that they wear neck braces and full fire suits
