Our gun rights are not for hunting and home defense. Our gun rights were drafted to stop a tyrannical government. America was founded by people that escaped other countries in the world, fleeing from forms of government and monarchies that were ruled by few, who ruled over and dominated the majority, and nobody could fight back. Those who refused to live by the yoke of slavery and domination, boarded ships and sailed into the unknown. They knew they would probably die on the trip to America, but death was better than slavery, and they took the risk. When they arrived, they began the framework for a free society, by the people and for the people. The first amendment is the freedom of speech. The second amendment is the right to bear arms. Guns were the second most important of all rights for a good reason. When a government disarms a populous, it's game over.

In the case of Obama, all he tried to do was prohibit selling guns to people on the the no fly list, and he was legally blocked. I would recommend something to my gun loving friends. Don't worry, there are absolutely no plans for someone trying to take away everyone's guns because it's politically, legally and practically impossible. But, did you know the guy who killed 7 people at a 4th of July parade in Highland Park Illinois had been reported to the police for wanting to kill himself and other people just 6 months prior. Then six months later his Dad who had done the reporting, signed a consent to allow the purchase. I'm sure there are plenty of responsible gun owners who see that as a problem and those are the folks that need to point the way.

My summer gun is a .380, any gun is better than no gun; but if you think a bullet with half the weight and a smaller diameter causes the same damage or trauma than it is likely because you don’t grasp math or physics. That doesn’t mean people don’t die of 9mm wounds, but in a firefight half the problem is nothing to do with them being dead before getting to the hospital and more to do with them dropping their gun and stop returning fire; ie hit ‘em with a sledgehammer to stop them now instead of a framing hammer so they die in an hour. FBI statistics say firefights happen at 9 feet distance and an average of 18 rounds are fired by both before one stops shooting…..even if both shooters die or both shooters live, one loses either the will or the ability to return fire before the other. I have never been shot (hopefully it stays that way, I’m getting too old for that shit) but friends and coworkers who have been shot and survived have gotten rid of 9mm as their primary in each case, because they found out firsthand how survivable the rounds are, and they moved up to .45ACP.

The XC would also be more of a race gun except the comp puts the gun in open decision in USPSA where it would be at a disadvantage when compared to the REAL open decision race guns with massive comps, thumb rests, and fix mounted optics.. please stop typing nonsense..

Best home defense is dogs if you're in a house. Any out of place noise will set them off. Heavy slat blinds on windows will make a lot of noise if something comes through. I have my lights hooked up to apps, so if the dogs go on alert, I light up everything. Grab the phone, grab the self defense, and go let the dogs out and check all the entry points.

My wife has the first hadgun he was firing for times that I'm away from home for periods of time, and she consistently impresses me with it when we go the the range. A couple of years ago, she told me she wanted a 12 guage. My first thought was, "You're 5' 1" and only weigh 109 lbs." I didn't dare bring up the fact that she's 53 years old at the time, but asked her why she wanted one of her own. She asked me to take mine out of the safe, clear it, and then let her hold it. She then racked it and smiled. Yes, the sound alone will generally convince someone outside, trying to break in to change their mind and run. Needless to say, she now has a much lighter 12 guage than mine is.

@OldWestGunslinger-vs9mx2 ай бұрын
@yassandfats I understand gun laws are more difficult in the UK, but I do know lever action rifles are legal. I would suggest possibly a lever action rifle in a revoler caliber like 357 mag or 44 mag. You can practice shooting 38 special out of the 357 or 44 special out of the 44 mag. This will be very manageable for new shooters. It will also be good brush guns for hunting. For example, they'd both be good for 100 yards. I understand that the UK has very big overpopulation with deer. Deer is good eating and a a great way to increase your meat supply for cheap. It's also a healthier meat than beef.

@OldWestGunslinger-vs9mx They can get guns. They just can't use them for self defense. They can't just say they were in fear for their life. In order to use a firearm in self defense, they have to prove that their attacker had one, and even then, they'll probably do prison time.

@JoeBLOWFHB3 ай бұрын
No they can't. Most Americans don't own a gun or have ever fired one. That's because most of the population live in big cities where owning and practicing with a gun is a huge hassle. Most civvies can't afford to train to this level. This guy has fired 10's of thousands of expensive rounds. When it comes to the military and police most of them never train to this level either. Most people in the military never fire a weapon again after basic training. Only about 10-15% of the military engage in combat. Everyone else is in a noncombat support role. Most donut eaters don't fire their weapon anymore than they have to stay certified. According to PEW Research only about 4 out of 10 adults in the US claim to live in a household with a gun. Only 32% claim to personally own one. Only 45% Repub and 20% Dem claim firearm ownership. I live in a rural neighborhood of about 35 houses only 6 of us have guns and train to any degree.

Im 53 years old, been around guns since I was a kid. My dad was a fed and he reloaded his own ammo back in the day. I learned how to reload ammo by the time I was about 10. Currently I have 2 guns: my grandfathers 12 gauge pump shotgun that stays loaded in my bedroom closet, and a Glock 20 (10mm handgun). The thing with ammo is you have to consider its lethal range. A little ol .22 "pea shooter" is actually lethal up to a mile away! Thats a tiny, very light bullet. It goes far. On the other hand a .45acp caliber bullet is big and heavy. It wont go as far and will start to drop almost immediately upon leaving the barrel. You also have to consider the bullet type (hollowpoints vs full metal jacket) you want to use and why. A hollowpoint bullet will expand or "mushroom back" immediately, causing less penetration especially with heavy outerwear. A full metal jacket is a pointy tipped bullet and will expand much slower allowing deeper penetration, and possibly hitting an unintended target behind the intended. Guns and ammo can be overwhelming for some. Probably the best starting point to learn is a 9mm semi-auto handgun, a .357magnum revolver, a 12 gauge shotgun, an AR-15 (known as the evil "assault rifle", shoots 5.56 ammo), and your dads old 30-06 bolt action deer rifle (which can blow a hole through an elephants ass!!). RULE ONE: Do not put your finger on the trigger until you are ready to put a hole in something. You rest your finger in a pointing manner along the side of the frame of the gun. This applies to each and every type of gun ever made, from the pea shooter to the deer rifle.

He has done this twice, once while camping in the high desert a mountain lion decided to visit and the other was a home invasion. Both times there was no banking, or overt sogns of aggression, just a low growl and a protective stance.

5:00 FMJ = Full metal Jacket. These are different from Hollow Point (HP) ammo. FMJ are used typically for Target Practice. HP is used for self-defense (or offense). Also Red Dot does not mean a laser dot is pointed somewhere like with a cat, you only see the Red Dot within the glass/plastic. Here is a simplistic list for reference. Pistol = Close range (8 to 20 feet in front of you) Shotgun = Mid-Range Rifle = Long Range target There's actually flashlights for pistols and long guns. Rifles and shotguns are in that category, so yes, you can get a flashlight on your long gun.

People often ask why you need more than one gun and that's the answer, one gun simply can't do everything. There are legal issues with certain calibers for hunting in certain States, and some simply can't be carried comfortably for self-defense, and handguns are more difficult to master than a rifle or shotgun for most people. Each design has its own benefits and drawbacks, just like a car or pickup.

Just filled out the ATF 4473 form, background check was done on a computer that took like 5 mins. And you get an instant.... Approved, Denied or Delayed. A delay is the govt. can take an additional 72 hours to research something. If the ATF doesn't get back to the FFL within said time frame, the sale can proceed to go thru. Most people who urchase from an FFL know theyre good to go. So most get instant approval.

If you get your fundamentals down on the presentation (the draw into the aim) you won't have to look for the dot, because you're drawing into a position where you can always see it. In fact, learning to do that with a red dot will make you more efficient when you're using iron sights. Of course, once you've learned how to do that with a red dot, there's no reason to do that with iron sights, because red dots are just faster.
