@observingatoms
@observingatoms 3 жыл бұрын
@@arnoldrivas4590 its hard to ignore that. Something which haunts you throughout ur life with so realistic illusions like what happened with Richard while walking on the road. Its clear that incident had a deep rooted presence in Richard's heart. Thanks to that psychatarist, he was on the way to recovery. But Johan .... I wonder whether Johan spoke the truth or just used his manipulation like always to come up with such terrifying statements. He honestly sounds right tho, poor Richard just got a hint that Johan was behind all this and see, how quickly he got killed. That psychatarist was also going to be executed by Roberto, but Tenma came in time and saved his life. Notice something here? How Richard was so close to recovery and then got killed whereas psychatarist uncle almost died and Tenma just saved him. Johan and Tenma, two sides of the same coin just like good and evil. At the end, Tenma is also evil as he spoke that those bastards should die. Johan was also good for a time, supplying pleasures to people and working for children's safety. Good and evil looks the same if u consider this. Means there is really no good or evil.

He manipulated this poor man from the very start, to think what he wanted him to think. The way he throws subtle accusations to slowly build on the inherent guilt he knows Richard feels, but always backing down and playing innocent before its obvious what hes doing. This was legitimately frightening to watch.
@xPrincessGarnetXVI
@xPrincessGarnetXVI 2 жыл бұрын
@@jamesloucks2562 Richard was a cop who abused his power and pushed his principles above the law and acted upon it. We see cops do this today. Whether the kid was actually a pos or not isn't the point. The point is that Richard took it upon himself to serve justice instead of following the law he swore an oath too. And Johan asking him if he was certain of his crimes and Richard could only stutter is proof of his guilt. Richard would say he felt guilty but then in the very next breathe try to defend himself with his justification. The worst kind of people are those who lie to themselves. They are weak. And Johan took advantage of that. Johan embraces that he's a monster. He isn't ashamed. So he plays on the fact that others fear their own darkness. I love Richard. But he isn't innocent at all.
@employeeattheffc9874
@employeeattheffc9874 2 жыл бұрын
@@jamesloucks2562 You kind’ve contradicted yourself a bit. Robert is not a victim. He was a cop that felt entitled to act of justice in a moment of poor judgement and blamed it on a lack of sobriety. He killed an underage suspect, which in that setting and time, was illegal. Johan picked at Robert’s points because it was the truth. That’s what Johan does. He doesn’t manipulate people, he finds out people’s moments of “inner monster” or fears, guilt, hatred, jealously, and cultivates it. That’s more frightening. You give Robert too much leeway. Whether or not the suspect did those crimes did not matter, what mattered was Robert hid his guilt over killing a minor through repenting and ironically, drinking. It’s sad that Robert died and yes, Johan is awful, but he is not the only monster or awful person on the show. If you don’t realize that, you are terribly simplifying the mangaka’s work.
@jamesloucks2562
@jamesloucks2562 2 жыл бұрын
@@employeeattheffc9874 the people who are "simplifying the work" are people like you. You are simplifying these 2 characters down to their BASE, taking ONE attribute and saying "they both committed murder, so they are basically the same." "Johan is awful but hes not the only monster, blah, blah, blah" *YOU* are the one being simple." I was trying to be nuanced, pointing out the tragedy of Richard being manipulated. Because despite killing someone, unlike Johan, Richard actually feels *Remorse* , he actually doubts himself and his choice despite what he tells himself. Highlighting the smaller, subtle details of his character is literally the *Opposite* of "simplifying the work" Your second paragraph makes me seriously doubt that you proof read before sending messages, real talk. "Johan doesnt manipulate people, he finds out people's moments of Fear/Guilt/hatred/jealousy and cultivates it" You *Literally* just described. manipulation. lol, wtf dude? Congrats, you can explain how manipulation works without understanding manipulation somehow. XD And Robert *IS* a victim, you may not know this but even *Bad* people who have done bad things..can be victimized. Robert is a victim of himself..and of Johan. I cant believe someone who doesnt understand that had the audacity to say I was simplifying the story. Smh.

@@employeeattheffc9874 Thank you. You have simply stated what I've been saying to James in our other thread on this video and he doesn't seem to get it. For someone who dislikes someone for being manipulative, he sure has manipulated and twisted a lot of what I've said into whatever it is he wanted me to say. Johan... behind the murders of foster parents using people as pawns and erased (his will) everyone who know him.. or acquaintance him with or without lifting a finger. Addedly, the murdered Stefan Joss age 17, a serial killer who also came from Kinderheim 511 just like Johan. That infamous place scared the people because of those brainwashing experiments etc there. so this Stefan was a part of bad upbringing to become perfect soldiers...Johan said Stefan Joss is a good boy who also like others had bad experiences and he wish to escape(as far as I remember) He is not legal age yet.. and he may wish to change... Due to his atrocious acts whatever.. he shoot him immediately as a policeman duty(why... because of that Rights of the Child and about that juvenile thing, be wary this is Kinderheim 511 we're talking about )but after that scene he was haunted by Stefan Joss... It's so terrifying how methodical and precise Johan's methods was. First, in the bar, he calls out his direct actions to remind him of the laws that he broke. Here Richard responds with being defensive and bringing Stefan's crimes to light to justify what he had done. Second, on their walk, discusses everything to do with Kinderheim 511, so he could humanize Stefan and cast doubt as to whether it was justified on Richards end to do what he did. After all, was Stefan really the absolute monster that Richard said he was? Or was he a victim of circumstances that could have theoretically been saved and turned around for the better? Now Richard is doubting himself. Especially when Johan brought up his daughter. Who is, presumably the same age. Third: Call out the lie about his drinking. Now that all the excuses he made have been thoroughly picked apart by Johan and he is currently left with no justification, he's easy prey. And then with the masterfully executed line "how about a drink"

He feeds off of his ability to command others emotions. The detective was an alcoholic, he prlly drank alone daily. All Johann does is pull at strings until the knot comes loose. Outsmarting Light wouldn't be hard, Light was pretty dumdum. He had magical tool to kill anyone in any way possible and its existence was unknown by rest of world. Proceeds to kill bunch of ppl by default way to be sure to raise suspicions. Proceeded to kill "L" right when he appeared on television, further narrowing down his presence used default death there as well. Death note was very flexible tool and rest of world not knowing of its existence would had allowed Light to kill way more ppl by doing things more carefully and not raise suspicions rather than rush things down. He even had simp who had similar power. Even with such powerful assets he managed to get himself into situation where he had to erase his own memory. I have often seen Light referred as smart character, so maybe I have just seen different death note than everyone else? I thought this was one of the best written villains anywhere in a long time. I often hear him compared to Griffith from Berserk. Both are charming, charismatic, highly intelligent and handsome with clear sociopathic tendencies, however that's where the differences subside. Where Griffith was born semi-okay and chose his way of life to the top for glory, making many sacrifices and dumbass decisions that led to his tragic destruction, Johan was born tragically without being in control of his own destiny, shaped by others around him, until he developed that monster within him at a young age, he didn't make the choice and never had a chance otherwise.

Hands down two of the best villains ever put in manga and anime, good comparison. Another great one I'd put in the same category is Friend from 20th Century Boys, also from Naoki Urasawa. Much like Johan he's a charismatic manipulator and a terrifying presence through the entire story, even when he doesn't appear.

The way they made Johan’s eyes somehow look so hollow is pure art. Ive seen that hollowness before… do not under any circumstance mess with those people. While obviously Johan is an EXTREME case, aspd affects around 2-3% of the population. And while many actively act/are pro social out of convenience and it being the advantageous to them, the smart ones are capable of truly horrifying things. My younger brother is one. We all knew from a young age. Both me and my now adult step sister believe he may have caused my step mom, who he’s known since he was 9, to intentionally overdose on medication. I’ve seen him have that hollowed look in his eyes twice in my life. And it was fucking terrifying. Be careful seeking conflict with strangers. Johan is fictional, but people like my brother are not.

I guess I will write about it, though most didn't notice. Johan hasn't killed just because he was interfering, he feels contempt towards him. There are many good evidence but you can notice two incidents: first is the "you didn't know about his past and what he had to suffer" which he outbursted to him and the second is how he said he "extensively went through the case", as if it was important for him to prove his guilt. If he wasn't acting upon contempt, he would kill him the same way. Johan killed middle aged couples, his enemies and most characters in cold blood, this is rare chance of him comitting murder for revenge. Why? His motive is that he feels irritated at neglegance of Richard and a police officer. The victim kid is from orphanage and experienced the same torture as he has done in the experiment. He feels connection between survivors of kindergarten because they were broken like him, incapable of changing from monster. When Roberto dies in front of him, Johan also has that pitiful face and the reason why he has connection with kindergarten survivors is because he cared about them.

@@baekseju3006 Sorry, but You are semantically wrong. 🙌 I have this topic as hobby for 17 years now and believe me, as much as by plot we can see trauma, there is DOZEN of psychopathy symptoms, that he shows. Of course it is mixed with some other things, that happened in his life. BUT by portrait, along with fact of being 'born monster' and with things like extream constant boredom, lack of emotions, reflecting emotions demanded, lack guilt or remorse, inability of seeing himself and high cognitive EQ recompensating low 'feeling' part of it, seeing everything absolutelly emotionless(in normal case can be effect of theta waves brain influence, that often cause dream-like state). Also criminal acts, or lack of self-image since early age, seeing killing people as ways to hiding his and Annas identity. Yes. He felt CONNECTED to Anna, but part of it can be reason, he fill-in holes in his own self portrait. After all we have no information on twin psychopaths. Psychopaths often monopolize times of people, they connect to(and by it I can say, they perceive as theirs to 'love', even if they not fully comprehend such bond), always seeking way to monopolize their time. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I am not saying, Johan is ONLY psychopath. But if You know thing, or two about true psychopathy, which not only include human being killing machine, as is popularly seen, but most of all *void on a verge of depression* caused by low endorphine level, that is rising their tend to risking and lowering their ability of feeling FEAR, He is PURELY BEST FICTIONAL PORTRAIT of it. 🙌 Also, with psychopaths, nature vs nurture is also always-present question. Besides, being headshot AFTER getting to Kinderheim 511, or 'protecting Anna', he did it all BEFORE possibility of having his frontal-temporal lobe demaged by bullet. 🙌 AKA he came to all those things himself. Even with trauma implied(that is often portraited 'monsters being born'), couple year boy, who commit such things and is able repeat it NUMEROUS time *is* representation of psychopath, through prism of 'nurture vs nature' debate. Like, did John Wayne Gacy had been born killer, or it was effect of him getting his head demaged by swing, when he was 5? 🤔 Was Ted Bundy born 'evil', or we only see, as some sources says, effect of him being 'failed abortion' child? Naoki Urasawa PORTRAIT Johan Liebert as PSYCHOPATH, but give us open interpretation to it. Just check PCL checklist and see, if Johan check out box. And aside from being promisque, he check it all. I get, if You want to say 'no he is not by plot', but here, again, comes nature vs nurture. Out of ALL subjects, Johan got BORN different. Later incidents shaped him. Like, You think 'merciless killer', that You see in jails. But think about all those highly successful figures, like politics, CEO, businessmen, soldiers and so on, who DID terrible things every day... But stay on a 'verge of law'. 🙌 This is what MONSTER, aside from other characters, sbow most: Was Johan BORN that way? Did Tenma operation, even if saved him, along headshot cause it?' through our jurney we get answers. 🙌 And we can discuss ammound of trauma. Or how different than Anna Johan voice was during Bonaparta appearing. But, in truth. Even Johan' s mother, like those that KNEW about experiment, told, Johan was ONLY ONE SPECIAL. Since a start. 🙌 Again. Some say, it started, because of Johan being seperated from Anna, or Mother abandoning him. But... How big influence was having his mother dressing him as his sister? How big influence had, that he and Anna was considered SINCE BORN only 'perfect results', then corrected, only JOHAN was it? Johan is closest example of purest EXAMPLE of psychopathy from CLINICAL sense of it, You can get. Such is his creation by author and by it, such is what is reality. We always have, with 'special' children question: Nurture, or nature. Amygdala shape, theta influence, white/gray substance balance in organism. Cortisol level and so on... Or just bad accident, which can 'throw some gasoline into this fire', that already was in him since created by Bonaparta project. 🙌
