I remember riding this as a little kid and me and my Dad being obsessed with it! It’s still one of my fondest memories with him. He died in 1993. Thank you for recreating this moment for me.

Wow, the one thing I remember about this ride was that weird monster lady by the stairs. I have been trying to figure out where that memory was from. Finally I know where it’s from. Haha

This was my absolute favorite ride as a kid! I would ride it and then get right back in line to ride it again over and over. Thanks so much for posting this!

Oh. My. Goodness. Im from Florida and only rode this ride ONE TIME, probably 30 years ago, and have had the song pop into my head at random points in my life ever since. I remembered nothing else about the ride, but hearing the song is unreal. Thank you for posting this!!

I miss all the dark rides and fun houses that once existed - happy this one hung on.

I remember going through this at least 10 times every time we went when I was a kid. I live in Anniston so it wasn't very far at all. I miss the good ole days!!

It's a good ride if a park is cold, hot or rainy too. I dreamt they'd get Opryland's Chaos for the same reason, oh well.

I spoke with a park manager back in the day saying all parks needed an indoor attraction or two either to keep, warm, cool or dry.

I never rode this then one day a huge storm passed over Six Flags. This was literally the only ride open. So my cousins and I rode it. It was so cheesy we loved it.

I think I remember that storm as well and we hopped on this ride at the time

My mom and dad took my twin sister and me to 6 flags when we were 5 and stood in this line for over an hour and I was scared af and crapped my pants right before we was supposed to ride. Sister was so mad at me. I had nightmares after that for awhile then I finally got the balls to ride it a few years later and loved it. Me and my sis argued over who got to be on the opposite side of that giant pig man. The dragon that looked at you and hissed steam was on that side tho lol. My dad apparently got kicked off the ride in the 70s for kissing the monster at the kissing booth.

I don't recall truly.. Camera's back then didn't really do well in low light either. I remember and can hear the marsh monster (saying humans) on the left and the dragon on the right. There was something on the left for a short while that didn't light up. Maybe this was the same era.

Is it just the camera quality or was the show building actually slightly darker? At least in the first room
Was the Big Bird Marsh Monster still in the ride at this point? 3:03

There was a creature that was unlit for awhile.. It's possible this was during that era.

The Monster Plantation was a popular and iconic ride at Six Flags Over Georgia but ony 90's kids will really remember the experience. I personally didn't care for it when I rode it back in the day. I thought the animatronics were pretty cheap and ugly to look at and got pretty bored, halfway through but hey, childhood memories are childhood memories. They probably had to rename this to Monster Mansion in 2020 because of George Floyd and maybe some black kids would have gotten offended to see that this would be called a plantation because that's where people held slaves back in the 1610's-1860's and tortured them as an act of extreme racism. It was probably also kind of insulting to imply that they were equating black people to hideous, disgusting, ugly, uncivilized monsters that couldn't even be qualified as humans. The fact that half of these monsters all had deep southern accents probably didn't help.

It was renamed in 2009. Still, probably for political correctness but I don't know what the actual impetus was.

I truly miss the original Monster Plantation. The “improved” version today just doesn’t feel as unique and far less interesting.

thank goodness they changed the name from “Monster Plantation” to “Monster Mansion,” nothing worse than racist slave-owning fictional creatures.
