When I was a teen, I worked as a theater apprentice near Chicago for school credit. John Carradine played a character in the play The Fantastiks at our theater in the round. Near the end of the first act he has to magically appear on stage, but he was pretty old by then and there was no way we could just black out the theater while he ran down one of the aisles to the stage. So we built the stage with a hidden space beneath a part of the floor. About the size of a coffin. So before we opened the theatre to let the audience take their seats, I had to put Carradine into this coffin and close the lid on him. He would be in there for nearly an hour and half, between seating the audience, getting the play started and it coming to the end of the first act. Just before his appearance on stage the star of the play, Richard Chamberlain, did a flamenco dance, right on the trap door, and then just a minute later there would be flash of smoke and when the smoke would clear, there was Carradine, standing, in full costume and right on cue. I asked him what he did in that box for an hour and a half every night, and he looked at me and said, “ I sleep, dear boy. That damn flamenco wakes me and out I pop.” He never missed a cue. Never missed a line.

The Creature from the Black Lagoon was a great movie on many levels. From it, I learned that an ichthyologist is a scientist who studied fish.

One of the best 3D films made. I remember watching the film and seeing a fish in the upper right-hand corner of the screen, swim out of the screen and then out of frame.

I saw the 3D classics as a kid in the 50s and they were fabulous. I think.it was House of Wax that had a can-can scene where balloons came down and the whole auidience was reaching to touch the balloons with some oos & ahhs and clapping. Creature was great, too. Special showings of House of Wax in recent years became too hard with the old equipment. Wish they could upgrade the 3D to our moder tech. It's one of movie's classics.

Where is the scientist who discovered a way to pass his body through solid objects? The 4~D Man (1959) Am I the only person who remembers that movie?

The House Of Wax 1957 was better than The Mystery Of The Wax Museum 1935.

Grammer Police... Not "Them" use "They"... This concludes the emergency grammar police broadcast. Alternately "Big Ants" would also be acceptable but would give away the story.
