Personally, unlike Shin Godzilla, I actually hope there is a sequel to Shin Ultraman! I just feel the premise of the Ultra series pends itself to sequels better than Godzilla.

Yes I mean we know shin goji will wake up and destroy stuff probably fight another monster I mean we know that it's not interesting unlike let's say heisei Godzilla shin goji doesn't have a personality we saw heisei goji go from a monster to a anti hero who sacrificed him self to save his son but in shin ultraman he has a personality he fights for justice there is so much story potential with like other ultraman a show about humans reacting to all the ultraman fights that's why I'm excited for shin ultraman to get more movies I hope we see more shin ultraman what do you want see in shin ultraman 2 or what are it's name is gonna be lol

@@Strike-hopper that's actually not what I meant. What I meant was that ShinG's story was pretty neatly wrapped up by the end, with no need for an ending, and the vague nature of said ending is enticing and open ended. It's a weird paradox, in regards to the events of the film, the ending is certainly open for a sequel, but in terms of narrative, there's not much more to be done. Sure, other incarnations have more personality, but there's a reason the focus of Shin was the humans. They're a driving force equal to that of out favourite lizard. While I haven't seen it yet, I'd say Shin Ultraman is just naturally open to a sequel. There's plenty of other kaiju, the film establishes that aliens exist, so that's also another aspect that lends itself to a sequel. The Ultra series just has a larger universe, and that's why a sequel is far more compatible with it than Godzilla.

You know, if Hideaki Anno isn’t in charge of the following films, it would be _Shin Ultra Seven_ , _Shin Ultra Seven II_ , _Shin Ultra Seven OVA_ due to the lack luster performance, _Shin Return of Ultraman_ that actually made commercial success, then _Shin Ultra Seven III_

i really hope the filmmakers make some further lore. like maybe a confirmation that the monsters in Ultra Q are artificial, like scout units. maybe the return of Mefilas in a future movie. more info on the Land of Light, etc.

I dunno... Part of what made Ultraseven work better than Ultraman long-term was Dan Moroboshi. I'll be honest -- as much as I appreciated what they did in Shin Ultraman, I kind of missed Shin Hayata. The new guy was a blank slate and kind of boring. I LIKED seeing Hayata in later Ultraman TV series and movies. I don't think I'll miss what's-his-name in another Shin Ultraman movie. He just didn't have charisma. I'm afraid if they cut out the Dan Moroboshi element of Ultraseven we'll get another boring slogfest like Ultraseven X that updates the look and is completely charmless like a quarter of the Ultraman shows already are. We get it -- the first two Ultraman shows are archetypal. There will never be newer TV shows or that innovate and spark sequels like Ultraman and Ultraseven did. Tsuburaya has been reluctant to jettison the original Ultraseven because they've tried revamps with different concepts in the past -- Ultraseven 21 and Ultraseven X didn't survive. Granted, 1990s Ultraseven wasn't great, either, but the character and the original host actor endured in spite of the weak writing. The Seven specials did not destroy the character. I'm not so sure this year's Ultraseven 55th anniversary minifilm is the way to go, either. Deep Fake looks so unsettling, it's fake and worse to me than recasting the role with an actor who has gravitas. That's the key issue -- they need to find actors with charisma.
