私はいつもモモタロウファミリーの動画を毎日見て癒されています。 今日、千葉動物園でモンタとローラを見ましたが、退屈でつまらなそうで淋しそうで胸が傷みました。 室内の別々な部屋にいました。 外にも遊ぶ道具はほとんどなく、モモタロウファミリーとはまるで別世界の環境でした。 日本にいるゴリラの数が少なく、繁殖もなかなか難しい現象らしいですね。 ゴリラにも好きずきがあり、相性もあるようで、、。 大きな身体でじっと何かを我慢している姿が可哀想です。

残念ながらゴリラは日本からいなくなるというのが現実のようです。 血縁ばかりですから、繁殖ができません。 海外からもつれてくることもできません。 モモタロウファミリーも今が最も幸せな時間だと思います。 彼らもいずれ一人暮らしになっていくでしょう。 いつもでも一緒に暮らせないからです。 モンタもローラも未来のモモタロウたちです。

距離はあっても　お互いの姿を確認できる位置で一緒にいる感じしますね。　そういう意味で一緒にいるだけでも良いと思いますｗ！💖　ただ　優秀な個体が子孫を残せないのは残念です。元気で長生きしてね！💖💛　モンタはまだ33歳なので　他のメスとペアも試みたらいいかもですね。移動が大変かもですが。。

二人の間には、小さい格子がありのぞけるようになっています。たまにモンタがのぞいていますが、ローラはダメですね。ローラは、残念ですがこれ以上オスと一緒にさせるのは危険なので無理でしょう。モンタの相手の可能性としてメスゴリラは、東山にアニー、上野にコモモがいますが、可能性はあるかもしれません。千葉は、アニーに来てもらいたいようです。

類人猿研究所日本動物園 モンタは野生出身なので本当にもったいないです。なんでSSPが動かないのか不思議です。 シャバーニは今ネネさんしか相手してないのでネネさんがご健在の間　あいちゃんとの同居を試みるのもいいと思いました。もちろん叶わないでしょうが。 あいちゃんは母親と一緒なので母性よりも　娘意識が強いように思います。またはキヨくんに対する姉意識。　人間もそうですがママが一緒だとどうしても甘えたいし　母親になってしっかりしようという意識が薄いような気がします。 モンタには是非沢山の奥様に来てもらいたいですね❤️ ありがとうございます😁😄😃

オラウータンはいいけど、ゴリラとチンパンジーの一人暮らしは、やりきれないですね。とくにローラは寂しがり屋だそうなので・・・。でもゴリラと一緒にするともっとかわいそうになことになってしまうので、それに年齢的にも無理でしょう。

隣のローラは、ゴリラと暮らせないのでモンタの相手がいないんです。 ショウはトトと交尾したことありますが、もうずっと一人ですね。

Do you know if they have tried to integrate her into a group, or maybe a situation similar to Geniki and Momotro? Just one couple. Maybe that would put her at ease? Im not an expert. It was just a thought !

The zoo tried to live Laura with Monta or various male gorillas, but she is very afraid of gorillas. She may have thought she was a human because she grew up in artificial childcare.

Maybe if they put her with baby gorillas that were abandoned by their moms, she might relax and be motherly. Get used to being with gorillas. It would be a start. I don’t know ....just wanting her to not be lonely.

So in 2002, Momoko and Momotaro were moved to Chiba Zoological Gardens for about 6 years. I wonder what their relationship was like with either Monta or Laura? It's also strange to me because silverbavks don't often take kindly to children that aren't theirs. I imagine they were also isolated from Monta... I want to try and understand Momotaro's formative years as much as possible before he met Genki.

Michael, hi! Have you found out any more about this? Were they in with Monta? I just watched their Happy Birthday vid. So very sad. Wish the zoo could set up a grate where the two could see and talk to each other, the way the hand-raised babies are reintroduced. Maybe even that would freak out Laura. I can’t find any history on her, or why Monta wouldn’t be with at least one other male. Hope you are well.

@@katewaterbaby Hi, Kate! It's been a while! To be honest, I haven't found out any more about Monta or Laura in these past months. There doesn't seem to have been much documentation or footage of many gorillas in Japan up until recent years, starting with Shabani, so their past is still a total mystery. They're both quite elderly, and care for gorillas wasn't always what it is now, resulting in plenty of psychologically scarred animals that simply cannot adjust to living with others of their own species. This seems to be the case particularly for Laura. It's quite sad to see, but now the only thing for the zookeepers to do is keep them alive and healthy. Forcing them into uncomfortable situations can severely impact their emotional and physical well-being. Another issue I've been reading about is the overpopulation of male gorillas in zoos. Silverbacks don't do well living together, especially not when there are female gorillas in the same enclosure, so they need to be isolated until there's an available mate to be paired with. In many cases, silverbacks are kept "on reserve" in case another silverback dies, leaving his mate or mates alone. Monta seems to be one of these unlucky "reserve" silverbacks, merely awaiting the day he might find some use as a father. Of course, he may already be too old and used to isolation. If only they had never been put in zoos in the first place, but now there's not much to do except wait.

@@michaelmannix1604 I’ve also gotten tuned in to the surplus of males, due only partly to several females living with one silverback but oddly more male babies being born. Seems the only solutions would be lots more zoos or birth control, neither too good. Where will Gentaro and Kiyomasi go, or D’jeeco’s sons? And the bachelor clubs-do they work out better than solitary living? I just suggested-half facetiously-in a different vid on Monta and Laura that someone bring a sleeping bag and camp out with Laura, have afternoon tea, play cards, bring her a kitten. And a friend for Monta. A guinea pig? A turtle?

I believe the female was raised by humans in their home or something like that. She looks messed up. I feel bad for her. The silverback appears to be in better condition but she must be afraid of him. How sad…..no interaction or socialization. Trying to make a monkey a pet is one thing….and monkeys make horrible pets, but gorillas and chimps are on a different level. I can’t believe someone tried to make the female a private pet or they did make her a pet and she’s all messed up because of it. It’s hard to figure out even when you go to the video that shows her former home….but it appears that she was a pet gorilla. I didn’t see any zoo in the video….it looked like a private home. That’s messed up to do to a gorilla….a monkey and nobody cares, but a gorilla? It’s just so sad.
