Thoroughly enjoyed your video - you captured the full spectrum of a bird hunters nightmare and joy

Hello AK. You nailed it on the head perfectly! This was Peggy’s 5th season and I have never had such a rollercoaster ride with Huns like this year…there’s a perfect last day hunting in part 2 that completely showcases this love-hate relationship. Stay tuned!! Happy New Year.

I feel your pain on the misses. But, the video somewhat distorts the distance. Looks like they are well out of range, but I know they're not. Or are they? Haha. Peg is giving you some good exercise.

@@castblast4063 that was such a beautiful back shot of scenery, when your legs are tired that is what keeps us going 👍

Greetings from Colorado! Very cute dog. Always pay attention to the movements of your dog. I hunt with Labs and many a times, I have missed to see ducks in the sky, but the Labs have indicated otherwise. Happy Holidays and good hunting.

Great clip. Where were you hunting. I'm live in western MT and planning my first trip to eastern MT this fall.

Greetings MT D! Not sure where to start because Peggy and I traverse the entire state all season. We had 80 days last year in the field and hunt from Ninemile to Glendive…. I use to love the Scobie area but that area gets a lot out of staters, though when it gets cold, it definitely keeps the fair weathered folks away. Plentywood is kind of the same thing. It seems the further south you go to get away from the high line spots, the less out of staters you see. Glendive and Baker are good with a ton of public land and block management places. If you stay in Baker, then you can easily shoot over to South Dakota for easy pheasant hunting. Good luck!

@@castblast4063 I've hunted the area around Lewistown; up around Winifred and Roy, but getting permission has become more difficult. Some of those farms and ranches have changed hands. I'm sure you've covered that area as well. I live in the Flathead, so it needs to be a 3 day trip to make it worthwhile. We've been hunting ND for a few years, north of Hettinger. The Regent area. They lost a lot of birds 3 years ago to big hail storm in the spring that killed off much of the hatch, but they've come back.

Still fun. Easy to miss birds on the run

Hi GH. I agree! Whether there are birds or not, being outside with Peggy is always a treat!

Those misses are painful to watch so I can imagine how you felt. Are you looking at the bird or at the barrel? What chokes and shot are you using? Silver lining is Peggy gets to find more birds.
@castblast406310 ай бұрын
Greetings HO. Well, I try and get my sight on the bird first thing. I don’t have near the issues shooting pheasants and sharpies. I use IC and M chokes.

Hi Steven. It also took me a few secs to learn what had happened! Luckily Peggy has learned to stay away from porcupines… skunks not so much….

Lebron might be the best athlete in the game but he's about 10 notchs below Bird in actually playing the game...Bird never stopped moving, always in the right spot, passing, quick as hell with a quick mind and quick release, he played chess when most others were playing checkers

Better a skunk 🦨 then a Porky pine 🫵🤣

True!! Ha. Unfortunately, we’ve had both. But at least Peggy appears to have learned to avoid the porkies…skunks not so much…
