We went for 50 below zero to 50 above zero in the span of a few days!
The barn is flooding and the horses are feeling frisky!

I think one of the reasons I love your channel so much is because it’s as if you’re reading from your diary. I love knowing what’s going on in your life in your own voice. I feel your struggles and your joy and the love you have for your animals (feline, equine, and canine). The scenery is glorious. It makes me so happy to hear you’re continuing your channel. Please don’t change your style. It sets you apart.

You're a natural storyteller and very good at video recording. It seems odd to me to want to watch someone do their chores but I'm here for it and happy to know you will continue sharing your journey. The care and compassion you have for your horses is compelling. May you heal well and continue your mission for many years to come. ❤

CC, what a horsewoman you are. I remember back when I was younger all the chores were a labor of love. All the horses in your herd look healthy and happy. I hope your back heals before summer so you can enjoy the fruits of your winter time labor. Can't wait for the next video. I'm an ex- horsewoman who misses all this SO MUCH! Thank you! 🥰🐎🤍

Quick suggestion-get an inexpensive leader for that downspout that’s dumping water right at the foundation, so that it comes out away from the barn. It was a mess around here and we didn’t get anywhere near -50! So hats off to you for coping and getting your horses through all the changes!

We have had all rain this winter in Michigan. Lots of cloudy days. Grumpy horses because it’s too muddy to run around in the fields or just lay in the sun. Grumpy me because I miss the sun. I hurt my lower back as well, nothing helped until physical therapy used an ultrasonic message of deep tissue. Instant relief.

If you possibly can and if it is $$feasible, you should when the weather warms up rent a machine to dig the trenches for you. When the weather is good to do that. Have those trenches ready to go before next winter. Even in the pastures so there is some dry areas for the horses. Do t know if it's $$ feasible,but maybe with help from the owner $$, you could make French drains, where those trenches are filled with pebbles to keep from filling with mud. Just an idea. Also, for the time being you might want to make some perpendicular drains attached to the long ones, so the water can drain off more quickly and not have as far to go. During this cold time anyway. I love your channel, you are incredible in what you do , and your voice is perfect for your narration 👍. I hope you stay on and it helps with the $$ aspect for you. I've learned a lot from you as well. Blessings ❤❤❤

It's funny, I went out to the barn today. It's been so warm, most of the snow has melted. I board and drive about 30-40 minutes to my barn. I have a Dutch harness horse former Amish buggy horse. She has a fear of cars on the road. And is very barn sour right now. She got injured last year and we didn't ride much along the road last fall. She threw a tantrum in the drive way just going up to the road, I had to go back and have my friend have me a dressage crop. I call it the stick of remembering... Cuz I waive at her and she remembers what she's supposed to do... We rode in a bit of snow, I had to wait 35 years to live in a place where I could ride in the snow! And dang nabbit I'm going to ride in the snow... Even if it was just a little here and there.
@cattymajiv
@cattymajiv 4 ай бұрын
That's the beauty of a crop! You almost never need to tap them with it, and you should NEVER actually hit them! Just holding it in your hand makes them more willing to cooperate. Even a flimsy tree branch ripped off of a bush will do the same thing. When a stubborn rental horse who has had far too many bad riders on their back decides not to listen to my friends, and just wants to stop, I occasionally tear off a little peice of branch with some leaves at the end, so it's very visible to the horse, and voila! Suddenly my friend has a willing mount. I feel so sorry for the rental horses! And I worry that it brings back memories of beatings, so I only do it very rarely, and I tell my friends NOT to hit the horse, although it wouldn't hurt anyway, with that tiny twig. I just don't want to bring back any trauma.

You might consider wearing a lift belt while doing chores. When you lift or exert, You bear down pushing your abdominals against the front of the belt which causes the back of the belt to secure support to all the insertion muscles along your spine. Use while driving the four wheeler, too.

It's a great feeling when everything is shipshape at the end of a warm day. I've been roof raking snow off the barn roof and we've had intermittent rain during 3 successive storms. If it can't be spring, I want it to stay cold so the snow is easier to manage. Last winter in Northern nh was like what your dealing with now. Endless mud season. Good job on your productive day!

My young son & I dug out the wet area in my barn (about 2 1/2 feet deep), hauled in some abc, laid perforated pipe and ran it out under the walls to lower places outside, then hauled in another foot of abc. Then I hauled in a foot deep of sawdust, and I keep it clean. There has never been any more wet ground inside my barn.

please keep on telling us about you if you can. I see you working with some tools made of plastik to take out the poo piles. here in Germany we have some made of metal as well. I had 2 over 10 years. there is no breaking out of a tooth or not using in cold weather. they are steardy and you can easily bring them back in a good shape when the poo was frozen to the ground. it is called "Bollengabel", "Metallgabel" or "Dunggabel" witch means "Poofork" and it is sold with or without a handle . I found it right away at Amazon and maybe there are some in the US too. they could help you a lot, it's about 20 Euro. wish you all the best. Spring is on the way :-)
