I bought only one strand of dwarf grass and broke it up into many individual shoots how long do u think it would take to spread I have it spaced out all around a 50 gallon

Well it depends if you are injecting co2, using ferts, what kind of substrate and system are you using as all that helps grow your carpet faster. But I would say you should see some good results inside couple of months. Be patient with it. Good luck!

@@ShawnHineidi I've only had my tank for a lil under or above a month and have 6 cory cats including the rare gold laser Cory's, I do have one betta and more plants shipping in tryna give him some cover, I have some stem plants as well that are looking healthy but looks like slow growth, i read up on compatible species for betta, so nothing but peaceful fish in my tank

@@HomnixHD well I would like to say that your Betta is a lucky one having the 50 gal for himself as main fish! Since your tank is still New, hold off on the liquid ferts as you might develope algae! Give it another month or so and then use liquid fertilizer to help your plants grow especially since you will be adding more plants which is awesome!!! I personally like tropica premium and I use half the recommend dose! Good luck bro!

Hi shawn hinaedi, i dont see any propogate on my hair grass its been 2 weeks. And when i take it, i just see small new root. Why? I use fert, soil, and 55 watt led for 100*40*50 tank

Give it time man!!!!!! You only had it for 2 weeks. You said you saw new roots which is a great sign. It taking hold but needs time to start shooting runners. Keep doing whatever you are doing and be patient!

How much Water temperature. Are you using aquarium chiller?

No I’m not using chiller. I keep it at room temperature and in winter, I use heater and keep it at 72 degrees

How long do you keep your light on for each day? Your tank is so beautiful and you seem to have no algae problems (future goals, my mc would look so much nicer if it wasn't covered in brown yuck)

Thank you so much. The light is on timer for 8 hours a day. I also struggled with algae in the first month but I kept doing 50% water change every 3 days and manually remove as much algae as I could. the following month, it was gone!

Having trouble growing dwarf hairgrass in my 40 gallon breeder tank. I'm using pressurized co2, seachem root tabs, and seachem flourish during water changes. It's has been about a month since planting in fine pool filter sand. I have about medium lighting. The plants seem to be dying instead of growing. I can't find the problem. Maybe not a good balance of ferts, lighting, and co2? What is a way to accurately see how much co2 I need in my tank? I'm currently using 1-2 bubbles per second through an inline diffuser through my canister filter.

Ok first, a month is not enough for you to see proper results. However, besides root tabs, I don't Think carpet plants will do best in sand rather than soil based substrate like fluval stratum or ADA amazonia. You should get growth but not as effective with sand substrate. Another Thing, 1-2bbs is not enough for 40 gallons tank, get a drop checker to measure how much co2 you have in your water so you would know if it's enough or not. Success comes through trial and error. Keep at it and you will succeed. Good luck.

I love Corydoras but afraid to put them in a planted tank. Do you have any trouble with them uprooting your plants?

yes, i have had this problem with cory!!! they used to uproot my monte carlo and I would replant every day until the root takes hold of the soil which took a while. Patience is key with this hobby. To me, it was worth it as I love the corydoras!!!

Yes you can. It won’t grow as lush or as fast but it will grow without co2.

that's an excellent question Joy. I don't know the answer as this is the first time Im growing hairgrass with MC. I know the MC grows fast and it might over grow the hairgrass. time will tell!

Thank you. I did order the Monte Carol, "Micranthemum 'Monte Carlo" from a reputable source and I got what I have ordered. I already knew the MC is the perfect beginner carpeting plant from the many videos I have watched on KZbin. Give it a try!

Ok thanks ,I have what is maybe Monte Carlo but it doesn’t stay as low as yours even with aqua soil ,4000 lumens of light,co2 and ferts . It kind of stays low but a few stems grow upwards.

@@uraninite8151 if the carpetnis growing upwards is because your lights are not strong enough to keep them low. Also try trimming the carpet more often. See if that helps.

im not sure why but it could be different reasons, are you using good substrate? are you adding fertilizer? is your light intensity correct, are you frequent with your water changes!!! it all depends on the conditions of your aquarium!

I'm using Twinstar 600E which is considered high light. I'm also injecting co2 and adding ferts which help growing the carpet faster and thicker. If your plants is growing upwards towards the light that means it's low. So invest in a. High light. Good luck.

No they mix. Monte carlo is very aggressive and will take over and cover the hairgraas if you allow it. Good luck!

Hi Jeffri Thanks for watching. Actually over the period of 7 months I think I only trimmed 2 or 3 times. It's good to trim at least once to promote growth and then just let it grow!

Just have the co2 on an hour before the light goes on and off an hour before the light goes off. You might experience melting in the beginning but it will kick back in time.

I have mine at 7 hours daily. In your case, try to increase the intensity or get a more powerful light. Also if the leaves are yellow this indicates low nutrients so try adding liquid fertilizer but do not over dose to avoid algae. Do more frequent water changes.

That depends on many things bro. Do you have a good substrate? Is your lighting sufficient? Are you dosing ferts? Also which is most important, are trimming your hair grass? Trimming encourage new growth. Give it a try.
