This was some of the most fun I've had with a challenge in a while. I'm very impressed with all the submissions (especially the Bababooey-inator, that was insanely creative use of the decouplers)! I'm looking forward to the next time you host this!

I have no idea how you got that submarine to fly and I love how Yodas plane looked like yodas ship from the prequels! Anyways good job the both of you, you both did amazing.

That’s really weird that was the first thing I noticed, before he said it was made by Yoda I thought it was a partial replica of one of the Jedi ships. I didn’t see the front so I’m assuming that looks a lot different but the back looks exactly the same.

Derple Purp's Bababooey-inator when it started the race, to the river: "omae wa mou, Shindeiru." *explodes* This is a bit of a premtive decision, but I think this is my favorite just for the shear sillyness of this craft and the fact that it "worked"

I still can't believe my insane contraption got 9th place. Because I'm on a laptop, the lag means that the actual time spent recording my run was nearly six hours, and the whole time the camera was jittering like something crazy because the game thought I was "moving over the surface." I'm already working on my entry for the next river challenge, and it's just as wacky, but entirely different.

Thank you for hosting this challenge, Bradley. The immense amount of time you put into organizing and judging these events really payed off once again. Your enthusiasm about the game and all of its challenges is really contagious and, with every new video, never fails to motivate me to go that one step further. BTW, about the river with dry areas - did you know, there _ARE_ some such rivers here in Earth? Rivers where their water goes actually underground in one or several parts of their course. The Guadiana in southern Spain is one of the most famous ones: The water of this river's basin goes into the aquifer at some points, resurfacing at others, in several rivers along a continuous basin, which for centuries was believed to be a single river with subterranean stretches (es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guadiana ; link to Spanish version of wiki because the English version just mentions the debunking of the old "subterranean river" theory, without mentioning the now-known "back to the aquifer" part). _EXACTLY_ like the upper course of the Kyle river in Kerbin.

Okay I just got to the Lancaster and wow that's incredible. The fact that it's a pretty accurate Lancaster is incredible enough but the replication of the bouncing bomb is above and beyond. Absolutely glorious.

The graphics and physics are incredible. The skill and ingenuity of the contestants is truly impressive. You can make working piston engines in Kerbal?! I had no idea that you could do that ! Also the design of the sub is spectacular, like it would work in real life, and it looks good too. What’s the fastest possible way to fly around the planet once? There’s gotta be a faster way than just getting into a low orbit

Getting into a lower orbit and thrust down so you stick to the surface

An orbit is completely inertial with no outside forces (other than gravity) required to maintain it. You could go faster, while staying in an orbit-like path, by providing additional centripetal acceleration. In other words, with a continuous (radial in) burn. If you wanted to stay completely stable on that "orbit," you'd need to keep it constant though, which would be hard since you'd be losing mass as you go.
