Thank you for the update. I'm surprised that they have now laid down material for the 'road' part of the bridge, they are moving quite fast with it. Can't wait to see the Long Hill Bypass part of the road start as well.

Yea I was surprised too. Jamaica is making big moves with infrastructure development and will attract many tourists to the island and make it easier for them to travel from Ironshore to Negril and vice versa or going to Dunns River.

You know how big China is? Jamaica's size is nothing compared to that lol. And agreed; with them at the helm Jamaica could quite easily get developed-country infrastructure in record time.
@BrownBossJaTours
@BrownBossJaTours 4 ай бұрын
Chinese are helping other nations to build their country and that is a good sign. With the help of the Jamaican work men in this project it would be nothing but greatness. When this bypass is finish, the amount of tourists that would travel this area and creating more jobs and housing for locals. Connecting a lot of communities together.
@the-development-scribbler

@@BrownBossJaTours What makes this so fascinating is that Jamaica appears to be pacing itself with the projects they take on with CHEC/China. There are several other countries that take advantage of China's expertise to build these massive amazing-looking structures; however they wind up either failing, going over budget or just being white elephants. Either way, they get themselves stuck with a debt they can barely manage. Jamaica interestingly is not one of those unfortunate countries. Almost every mega project appears to be a banger, and they are getting bigger and bigger as Jamaica's economy improves. It's exciting times for development-watching in Jamaica, and Montego Bay is right up there with the best of them. Who knows what a developed Jamaica might look like

@@the-development-scribbler I always tell my guests that I carry that if they come to Jamaica in the next 5 years they won’t recognize it based on the amount of changes. I still prefer easy country life though and preserving the environment like keeping the trees n all. If you look at Montego Bay from an aerial view you will see that the land space is reducing due to the amount of developments going on. The place is getting super hot.

The Montego Bay By Pass will be a four lane highway?
@BrownBossJaTours
@BrownBossJaTours 4 ай бұрын
The Montego Bay Bypass will be about 15km long and it is going to be 4 lanes for most of its length.
@garfieldwhittaker944
@garfieldwhittaker944 4 ай бұрын
My concern is that given the long term higher cost of widening this roadway the bridge will be too narrow for easy expansion to six lanes as the area urbanizes/densifies and increased traffic causes extreme congestion. The envisioned 3rd and 6th lanes would be for High Occupancy Vehicles (HOV) traffic.
@BrownBossJaTours
@BrownBossJaTours 4 ай бұрын
For some reason I believe that the four lane would be sufficient in this area as traffic will be moving freely and coupled with the Westgate Dualization project, it would ease traffic congestion downtown. There will still be traffic that would build up, but it won’t be so bad. Even when I was in Canada and they had 6 lanes, if you were travelling on the 401 on a Saturday evening for example and see the level of traffic there and the standstill was crazy I tell you.
@garfieldwhittaker944
@garfieldwhittaker944 4 ай бұрын
@@BrownBossJaTours traffic will move freely initially for the first few years but will increasingly clog up as the areas surrounding the highway urbanizes/densifies. One just have to look at the congestion currently on the Howard Cooke Blvd. or Bogue Rd. during peak time rush hour to see the point that four lane roads will and do get congested. You just visited Toronto...I am sure you saw twelve lane highways like the 401 packed with cars like a parking lot during peak hours. HOV/bus lanes will become needed in about ten years...when the construction costs will be sky-high. That's why it's important to build such roadways in a flexible manner with extra space on the margins for Rady future expansions.
@BrownBossJaTours
@BrownBossJaTours 4 ай бұрын
@@garfieldwhittaker944 I see your outlook for the future. Jamaican Government wants to do what they can afford now and worry about expansion in the long run. That is how Jamaican Government is working. Then the cost will be out of this world. You will see trust me….
@garfieldwhittaker944
@garfieldwhittaker944 4 ай бұрын
@@BrownBossJaTours it will a case of penny wise but pound foolish due to a lack of locally focused planning. This is the basic problem with Jamaica's wrak local government system which sees ALL planning and funding coming from only Kingston's central government which really doesn't fully understand or appreciate the scope of Montego Bay's urban development needs...
@BrownBossJaTours
@BrownBossJaTours 4 ай бұрын
@@garfieldwhittaker944 Montego Bay is the destination for tourists and with tourism being the main source of foreign exchange, Montego Bay should be at the top of the list for an urbanized transformation. We are seeing the level of investment being made for Montego Bay and with all of this, it has resulted in house prices going up in this area. If you go to other parishes except for Kingston you can get cheaper housing.
