The winter of '82 stripped all the sand from Twin Lakes beach and it was mud all the way out to the pilings. A $5 and $20 gold coin were found there!

Twin lakes is mostly a bust. Alot of sand pumped in so what is a cut is mostly new sand. It wasn't worth going to, the one day I went. Better to find beaches with more gravel and a bit of sand. Plus the water is really close to the cut like all the time now.

Any cuts on Twin Lakes are deceiving. They *look* so good, yet don't produce that well. The reason is that : It cuts SO EASY there, because that's where all the dredged sand from the harbor is pumped on to. Thus it simply erodes much easier (into "sterile" sand). Contrast to if the same size cut were at Santa Cruz main beach, then sure : It would be Christmas-come-early, haha . In the 1982-83 storm winter erosion, Twin Lakes was red hot. Lots of silver, and even a gold coin surfaced. Because the entire beach got eroded down to bedrock that year. .
