Montero gets new wheels & tires | Project "Vader's Chariot"

Finally, the most exciting day is here - got new Motegi MR150 Trailite's 16x8 0 offset wheels for the Montero/Pajero/Shogun wrapped with 265/75R16 Falken Wildpeaks AT3W. Got them ceramic coated & then took it light offroad with a friend of mine & his son.

Appreciate it! I just finished cutting all my bumpers and trim this past week. In retrospect should've just cut them first and bedlined after the fact. Raptor liner is well worth it - fun and easy to spray. Looking forward to my next bedliner session. Have a few things I wanna cover.

thank you! We've been using Freedom Units vs Euro Lifting at the gym for the longest time when using LBS vs Kilos :) so this was only natural. I'd love to build a big ass bald eagle sign or mural at Freedom Factory for sure!

Looks so good man! I just picked these up for my Gen3 Montero. Same wheel spec and tire size as yours, but I got the bronze. I have stock suspension. Did you end up having any rubbing issues? I saw in the video that it was lightly touching a bracket. I hope I won’t have to cut or shave anything. Can’t wait for mine to come in. Thanks for the vid!

@@mikeajel828 Appreciate it! Cutting the bumpers is really easy with a jigsaw actually - it's in the bedliner video - cut my old spare bumper for practice. Congrats on the wheels & tires. Changes the look so much! What yeas and color is yours? The only places I'd consider essential trimming would be on the very back side where my tires touched. Rear is perfectly fine. I'll likely cut a fair bit more aggressively though both bumpers and either take off side trim or cut it - will play it by ear.

go for it! Just make sure to do the maintenance first especially timing belt/water pump since it's an interference engine.

I'm planning on going with this exact same wheel + tire size for my Gen3 montero. How does the handling compare, notice any issues with the positive Scrub Radius??

Got a lot more stable in the turns due to the more aggressive offset. It did rub a bit but I cut the bumpers and hit back the inner bottom of the wheel well behind the tire and now it's no issue. If you're planning on getting a lift I'd say go up to 285/75R16 or 255/85R16. 32s are just a tad too small if lifted as I'm finding out now :)

So I know you said you're getting spacers, does that mean in this video you're on 100% stock suspension and ride height? I'm thinking of possibly getting a montero, so looking at what I could do with it while stock

I ended up getting the bilstein 4600 shocks, lovells standard height springs and a 10 mm spacer for the front. Gave me about 1.5- 2 inches of lift. I'll have a video on all that sometime in the future.

I just got the little 10 mm ones to get 15 mm of lift. Not sure about bigger ones. Pretty sure there's posts about it in the Mitsubishi Monteros USA group on Facebook you can look into

They're AT tires vs regular roads and 265/75 vs 265/70 so they're a bit heavier. Wheels are about the same. Because of the better offset the truck is way more stable in corners. Also my tires were pretty much done and would spin occasionally in the rain in 2wd but hasn't happened with the new ones. Was expecting the AT tires to be much louder but they've proven very quiet despite the awesome aggressive design

Parts for gen3 I think are the easiest to find of all Monteros as well as there's a definite increase in supply through Luso Overland and the like since Toyota's have gotten so expensive. Parts are reasonable.
