Growing Up Without Borders

Күн бұрын

Monterrey, Mexico is the capital and largest city of the northeastern state of Nuevo León, not far from the border with Texas. It's widely recognized as the Mexican city with the highest standard and quality of life. Besides being a wealthy commercial center of northern Mexico, it’s rich in history and culture, and it’s also one of the most developed, industrialized, and urbanized cities in Mexico.
There’s so much to see and do, and the city is full of historical monuments, museums, restaurants, and green areas. You will love El Cerro de la Silla, El Cerro del as Mitras, La Sierra Madre with its gorgeous mountain landscapes and the thermal springs. There are river walks, national parks to visit which are very close to the city (20-30 minutes) and fun parks for the kids like Fundidora with the amazing Horno 3 science center.
Throughout Monterrey there are many great options for shopping including all the high end brand names in an area called San Pedro Garza Garcia. This is where we ended up going to find a Tim Hortons. :-)
Enjoy the video!!!

Hi, Monterrey is a very hot city, but with an extreme climate, with great changes during the day. Normally we are between 30 and 33 degrees Celsius. In summer the temperature can reach between 40 and 47 degrees Celsius. In winter, there are days when the temperature is 28 or 30 degrees. There are cold days, even reaching -7 degrees Celsius. But they are really few. It's really weird that snow in the city, usually only in the mountains. I don't know when you visited the city. But if you saw people in winter clothes with temperatures that did not correspond. It is because of the sudden changes in temperature, which are very frequent, and they were prepared. There is a popular saying from Monterrey: "If you don't like Monterrey's weather, come back in 15 minutes." Greetings and thanks for visiting my city. We hope you return with more time, and enjoy everything else that is offered to tourists. (I'm sorry for my bad English) XD

I'm from Monterrey, and the reason of why the people were wearing coats is because the average weather is very hot, of course it depends of the season but normally the temperature is about 30°'s to even 47° degrees (47 is the highest temperature record in Monterrey) in the hottest season, and the lowest temperatures are around -2° to 10 degrees on winter, so we normally are used to hot weather so even if it is 20 degrees we may felt that it's kinda cold. Normally in the north of Mexico is hotter than south Mexico, because the north is kinda classify as a desertic zone and in the south is more like forest-ish zone. (Sorry if my English is kinda off😅)

Hola Paola, I'm Canadian and have lived all over the world 50 plus countries, I spent July and August in Monterrey a few years ago,I can confirm that Monterrey in the summer time is about as hot a place as I have ever been, hot and dry and the sun is intense! I have been to warmer places that were very humid Venezuela for example is very hot year round on the coast.Unfortunately when I was in Monterrey there was a lot of cartel violence was happening so I saw some things I wish I had not. That is a real shame because I love Mexico and all of Latin America The Cartel violence is of course drug fueled I have never understood why Mexico or Colombia get all the blame every time someone in Canada , Europe or the US does cocaine someone in Latin America dies so it is not a victimless crime as some coke users claim, it is a supply and demand issue so if the demand went away so would the Cartel's power. I speak passable Spanish so I try and avoid touristy areas and immerse with regular folks, the warmth of Latinos is amazing family is so important. Monterrey is a wealthy city has excellent schools and a very prestigious technical University it is not what many people expect if you get your news from US media Monterrey is the jewel of the North. My ex-GF was teaching there and took me to a mall, I am not really interested in shopping but she just wanted to show me a store that sold shoes for 8 thousand US! a little too high end for me but she wanted me to see the other side of Mexico that tourists do not expect I was living in Guatemala when she taught there so we would fly to Tulum or Merida sometimes to spend weekends, Tulum is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world (and I have seen a FEW) and Merida is such a nice little city I felt so at home whenever i was there I loved the public markets. I must be the only Canadian that thinks Tim Horton's SUCKS, easily the worst coffee in the world! Plus after dating then living with a Latina for a couple of years I have sworn off gringas for the rest of my life! I mean really how can you go back? They may be a little loca but it's worth it and OMG they are so beautiful. I do highly respect this amazing adventure that you are taking the kids on this is more valuable an education then they could get any other way.

It's called Cerro de la silla and it is the most recognized and popular mountain of Nuevo León. It used to have a teleférico but it broke a long time ago. As other people said before, it would have been better if y'all would've visited places outside of the downtown... We have La Estanzuela, great mountains, stadiums, etc. At least you guys visited our downtown and the hornos which is part of the best you can get, best regards and ty for visiting Monterrey!:)

I believe they saw important places. Fundidora is a big thing for Monterrey as well the museums. Morelos where they went shopping is also an important part with the Neptune fountain and all. Of course Monterrey has many other beautiful places but for the time they had I think they used their time wisely.

What makes Mexico different from other countries in the world? Its perfect climates that change during the day in one place daily. Because Mexico is in an alley of nature and bathed by 2 oceans that refresh and feed it to have fruits of all kinds. As there is no other country. In the morning it is cold, at noon hot and before midnight it is cool and breezy. At night. It is cold and you can sleep without the need for air conditioning or heating. Finally. No city resembles another and there are not so many laws that limit people's freedom. there are schools at night and people work at night. 24 hours. That's why you can find breakfast in the evening or meals in the morning. Mexico has no limitations. each person. Has its own world
