I'm at 6 months and I've been skating for the last 6 weeks. I played some hockey this week, and I plan on going back to my regular weekly game in a couple of weeks. The skates are like the ski boot, i.e., they hold that tendon steady like a boot, so I don't worry too much.

this is awesome. I suffered my injury 7 years ago and I agree. the first 6 months I just worked on recovering. I got stronger after about 9 months. really happy for you as well, my doc said the same to me after 3 months of my recovery. Its really empowering. Single calf raises are great....i might go on a month long mission to grow the calves again.... i'm definitely subbed now. good video

Thanks. Out of curiosity, why are you watching achilles tendon rupture videos when you recovered 7 years ago?

SJ because. My rehab was basically on my own and I am an active individual that at times due to increased activity or sometimes a week of drinking, experience quite a bit of inflammation. Also, I train some tennis athletes who sometimes experience Achilles tendonitis. Since what I remember from my injury was due to overuse, I'm interested in this subject so I can be a better a teach about the process of recovery and such.

I am at 7 months. Non surgical. I have been playing disc golf again since month 5 but I don't dare try and play basketball yet/again. My question is, when could you do a single heel calf raise? I still can't do one at the 7 month mark. My doc told me to not even attempt to do it until the 6 month mark but I am concerned. It's still so weak.

Hi SJ, question. Technically if your ski trip was a month earlier, lets say 6 month mark, would you consider to cancel it?

Hi SJ, first of all thank you for your vlog, really appreciate it. Second, I've injured my achilles 4 weeks ago during absolutely unnecessary soccer game, so I'm on my recovery journey right now :) things are going pretty well and I have a question. I love snowboarding, I've planned snowboarding vacation in march 2019, and wanted to ask you, in terms of pressure on achilles is there a difference between ski and snowboard? I'm asking because maybe I should consider switching to ski from snowboard.. thanksv [and sorry for my English, it might be not so well]

Hi, unfortunately I've never snowboarded before. Do the foots hold you in so its impossible to dorsiflex? Because thats what the ski boots do so its actually safe to ski at that stage.

There is a little difference between ski and snowboard boots, i think snowboard boots a bit more flex then a ski boots, anyway at the month 7 mark it should not be a problem. Thanks for the answer, ironically among all those fitness/cooking/travel mega channels your is actually very very helpful, thanks you very much ))

Hi there- I both Ski and Snowboard and am at my 7 month now- I skied for the first time this weekend, and my physio said I can try snowboarding now- be aware that you use your achillies more in snowboarding as it is all heel and toe edge- so be careful- you may be sore.... good luck!

Hey SJ, I’m at the 6 month mark non surgical and I wake up every morning with stiffness and wondering if you had the same symptom at this mark. It’s almost like my first 5-10 steps are pretty rough. I zombie walk but it goes away fast. Any info helps. Thanks for all your videos. Really helps me out.

I think SJ’s recovery was pretty fast and impressive… most people would need more time. How do you feel now 2yrs later 😉

@@say1300 I feel great. The ruptured Achilles is still thicker than my non ruptured leg but it feels normal now. I’ve been back to playing sports and hardly think about it
