A great cast, but not the best one possible. I was fortunate to see the original cast, notably with Wayne Sleep as Kolia and Alexander Grant as the husband (in addition to Seymour and Dowell). That cast was perfection, and performed together for the last time in 1976 during the Royal Ballet's bicentennial visit to the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. What a cherished memory those performances are!

@@stedmantx Most definitely you are correct. Wayne Sleep and Alexander Grant in addition! I saw Seymour & Dowell too.

@@stedmantx Month was also shown on our BBC TV several times 1970/80s. Pre even video to keep it. Then, nothing, years without Month.

Sorry seethevolcane you dont have a clue what you are talking about -Ashton was a brilliant lyrical choreographer whose musicality is beyond question he follows ever bit of the music with footwork and arm gestures superbly Seymour was not only a brilliant classic and modern technician but also had a superb dramatic expression and interpretation of every piece she danced and as for build - Osipova and the like might be the skinny type dancers you prefer but they do not have the full understanding of the English style created by De Valois and Ashton

TOTALLY agree! This cast was outstanding which I saw many times at the ROH. Those were the days. THE days…

TOTALLY AGREE! I saw them all in Month in the original cast in the 1970s, and with Wayne Sleep as Kolya. I’ve seen it several times on our BBC TV in the 1970s and 1980s. I write every year begging the ROH to put it on dvd. I’ll even put up with modern skinny dancers. But ROH don’t put it on DVD. Yet, they filmed it at a performance on 29th April 2022.
