I can't even begin to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your frank discussions and tips about how you eat and how to manage telling people about it. I have felt very self-conscious and uncomfortable when I have to explain to people that I eat a regimented diet due to many food allergies plus IBS and previous candida. I eat no dairy, caffeine, sugar, glutens, yeasted-products, red meat, or alcohol. Never smoked. I eat only those foods that my body likes and that don't cause me intestinal pain. It's always very stressful when I have to eat at a restaurant and many don't allow you to bring in a container of your own food. I really liked your solution of eating beforehand as well as how you matter-of-factly explain to people why you eat the way you do. I really appreciate your candor!

hello KS fan!! if I explain it to people as if I'm doing something wrong, that I'm apologizing for it and over-explaining it, it just draws more attention to it and aids people in finding where it's odd or inappropriate. but just a simple "I'm not hungry" (I'm not, because I already ate, but I don't have to say that!!), is good enough. who can argue with that? it's simple and unapologetic!! YAY!!

You’re so incredibly clear minded and centered. I learn a lot from you. The importance of food is overrated. People nowadays talk too much about it instead of actually enjoying it. Enjoying people’s company is far more important than the food you are sharing. I am a very shy person and sometimes I go to luncheons and eat things I don’t really like or that isn’t good for me. Your story has encouraged me to stand up and do things “my way”. Thanks! We all know what is healthy for us. Nature is our plate (not processed food)!

For anyone who is a foodie it’s okay to gather around food, and if you enjoy healthy living then that will carry through in the food you make. My brother and I are whole food mostly plant based and when we are together our meals are healthy and we enjoy talking, reminiscing and enjoying great delicious wholesome food. You can take the cook out of the kitchen but you can’t take the foodie out of the cook, even when you are whole food based. Unhealthy eating is unhealthy eating, and you either don’t do it or you do. I am able to do exactly what LuLu does and still enjoy great food with a Cannoli every couple months if I so choose to make it, or a farro bean flour Pizza yum. Grind your own beans and make a protein rich flour. Yum 😋

I am not as strict as your way but very close. Its working!!! Glad that you had time with the girls. I hope its not as hot as you thought it may get. Yes, i have ups and downs, but those ups and downs are generally being alive. No one is with out pain. However, just like the way you eat…..i choose happy. I too have lost height. I used to be 5ft 2 and, over the last few years, I have shrunk down to 4ft 11 inches. I now have to use a step stool to reach the second shelf in my kitchen cupboards. Your weight management program is just so sensible and easy to maintain. I have eliminated most of my bad food choices with the exception of bread. I am gradually weaning myself off of it. I love lots of veggies and I generally add a small portion of meat for dinner. Kudos to you for sticking to your food plan and not letting anything sidetrack you. That is the hardest part. So glad that you are relaxing and enjoying your time with your daughter.

Keep showing us pictures of your healthy meals! I’m surrounded by carb kings & pasta queens who are baffled by my low low carb food plan, so I look forward to your food pics at the end of most LuLu episodes. However, I would disagree with that phrase when most people say, “It’s just calories in calories out”, because I believe it does matter what those calories are. I do know when you say it you mean what the food is matters, too. Thanks for this morning’s healthy food talk. PS: I’ve learned to meetup with friends at a coffee/tea joint, not a meal at a restaurant, to bypass food issues.

calories in, calories out as far as weight loss goes. I'll still lose weight if I eat 100 calories of broccoli or 100 calories of cake. but as far as health and vitality, what you choose in calories is of most importance. but calories = energy. and some calories are poor fuel (but you'll still keep going), and some calories are rich with nutrition (and that's how you are just not thin, but you feel like a million bucks!!!) 😊

hi Karen! I'm no expert but it seems to me, by what you've said, is that you need portion control. even healthy foods can make you gain weight if eating too much. I just followed the food plan that is in the description box of this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZqfdpHx8gtKBZtU and then, when I was at my ideal weight, I began to increase the portions until my weight stabilized. I just decided that this was the VERY LAST time I was going to lose weight, so I had to do something different, and that was to follow a food plan for life and to embrace it and love it and prefer it!! 💕

Write down everything you eat in a day and count those calories. BUT, not all calories are created equal. A 100 calories of calories is doffenet than a 100 calories of a sweet dessert. Our bodies love to store fat. It’s built into us as a survival mode. But we’re not loving like how our ancestors did. Food is very much readily available now. I would suggest, whatever you normally eat, cut that back by 1/3rd and see how you do. 😊 That’s what has helped me.

Hi Lulu, Sounds like your having a great time with your daughter when I go visit family also, I tell them we don’t have to do something all the time, I just want to spend time with you and visit and enjoy your company. As far as diet, for me you have just been as good kick in the ass-tinker for me to get up, quit feeling sorry for myself and take care of myself. I was never overweight my whole life, always active, BUT… I went through a divorce 7 yrs ago and I quit caring, and then when I looked in the mirror and seen my 64 yr self all blah, I panicked, sure I’ve heard this and that diet and it’s all been overwhelming, but you just had that little spark in you that made me sit up and take notice. And for that I’m appreciative of you, and I tell people I have this new friend who has inspired me, mind , soul, and spirit. LuLu the information you share is so valuable and the proof is in the pudding. I’m curious where you increase or decrease in your meal plan, are you increase/decreasing starches and protein to gain/lose? You seen to keep your veggie intake at 1lb. By the way, you look and sound great. Being happy is part of a healthy life plan goal and you seem to be hitting the mark. You are an inspiration and great example. 🌟♥️

Boy it does help listening to you talk on your diet. I am still working on getting my food to the right levels. Not easy at all but like the way you said you ate before going and just there to enjoy time with them. I hadn’t thought of doing it that way but it make since. We will be having a dinner at Church again this month for Father’s Day. And I know I can’t eat the foods they are eating. So I think I’m going to take my salad with me. I’m still having a very hard time not eating some of the foods and desserts that they bring. I don’t know how you have managed to stay away from it. But I am trying and when I make a mistake I pick myself up and get back on my diet the way I need to. Your talks do help thanks. I guess I’m going to have to tell them it’s Kathy’s way like you do. Lol
@LulusWay64
@LulusWay64 Жыл бұрын
hi Kathy!! two things . . . (1) perhaps instead of "I can't eat the foods they are eating", you think more along the line of "I don't eat the foods they are eating". for me, when I say I can't, it feels as thought I want it and I'll be deprived. when I said I don't, it feels like a strong empowering choice, not an option, I DON'T EAT THAT. (2) the way I have managed to stay away from it is by NEVER having it. when you have it sometimes, you keep your body craving the sugar and simple carbs (which turn to sugar, might as well be sugar), so the only way to not fight it all the time is to not want/need it all the time, and to get rid of the cravings, I had to let it go, completely!! just like I don't have one cigarette once in a while, I would just spark up the cravings again. just like an alcoholic doesn't have one drink, one drink would set up the cravings for more drinks. sugar is like crack, I've discovered, and I found a way out! you are doing great Kathy, just paying attention and noticing how you really want to nourish yourself, keep inspired, keep doing the best you can, Kathy's Way!! it's your journey!! Lulu

I love your common sense way of eating. Also, eating beforehand and just enjoying the company at the table is a great way to eat out. I'm a meat eater, but I can easily do without complex carbs, so my meals seldom have rice, potatoes or pasta. Like you, I love all my leafy greens and making the lion's share of my meal from vegetables. We have family brunch on Sundays, and that's my one cheat meal... whipped cream in my coffee and on top of my french toast with fruit. I think we each need to find a routine that works for us, since every body is different. Many of us can maintain a healthy regimen indefinitely as long as we have a scheduled release valve, like my Sunday brunch, which has its own rules. I'm so happy you've created a routine that works for you. Fighting with our food is a real first-world curse.

Hi Lulu. You did Such a Wonderful job painting your salad , But if you really wanted to utilise The space You could put sliding doors in And not have to get your legs out of the way to Open the doors. You need to to cut Out the front Of the salad bar with a jigsaw, Put the Shallow track down the bottom down the and the deep track up top Is in Australia We can get tracks the same size as On a medicine cabinet . If you Make it Too thin it will warp You can avoid this by making the door thick enough , Then routing the top and bottom of the doors of the doors so they are able to slide pass each other And I am sure you will do a lovely job of duplicating The original front of your salad bar . This is not meant as a criticism of your work I am just trying to help in maximising the function I hope I was able to to explain. I really look forward to your videos Marie- Louise

I do have osteopenia probably the cause or just old age. 😢 I can’t eat as much as I used to without gaining weight so I had to adjust as well.

You are so right, calories are a basic way to maintain weight. I have been doing that my whole life. It’s the only way to not get overweight! It’s better to eat veggies but if I want to go out to dinner I never eat the huge portions they give you, I am usually full after less than half of the food.

hello!! yes, hard to get veggies when you eat out, that's why I don't eat out!! but, if you must eat out, I suggest checking out the "sides" part of the menu, sometimes you will see things there like side of steamed broccoli or roasted asparagus, or veggie of the day, etc. Stay encouraged, Mo!! 😊

That is a great and healthful plan. Your food is beautiful. I eat similarly. I have learned to just love the actual flavor of the food rather than the ultra processed flavors I used to love. I do allow myself a certain amt of fat a day, so I have to make a choice. A little avocado or olive oil, or a little real natural butter. I am only five foot and 3/4 inch probably a little shorter than that now. It’s tough for me at family events and all the traditional comfort foods my primarily obese family eats. So, I take a grilled meat with me and a side, then I eat from that. I find myself eating before going to restaurants just like you, then take a dressing with me, and order a simple green salad and iced tea. (. Yes, I still drink iced tea, but I enjoy it unsweetened ). If there is nothing on menu for me I just drink either iced water or iced tea.

So happy you’re enjoying your visit with your daughter. I’m creative so I enjoy quilting, art journaling, crocheting & working on my dollhouses. I love raining days so I have an excuse to pick a relaxing project & have no where special to go, anywhere. When it’s beautiful outside I feel I must garden or get outside projects completed. Some days I just relax on my porch swing & “do nothing” it’s so peaceful & enjoyable. I love being the boss of me. I no longer do things for others that I don’t want to do. Thanks for all your inspiration to eat healthier it’s working for me. At 60 it’s working! Sending love & hugs to you & your daughter. Cheers! Mariaknits27 💃🏻💕🧵🧶🏠🧘🏽‍♀️📚

I just want to eat my meal, get nourished, feel satiated and then move on with life without nibbling and snacking and thinking about that all day long. for others, perhaps, they may need snacks (say if one was a diabetic trying to manage their blood sugars), but it's all about the snack you choose. for me, the snacks I choose are none! 😊

hey Ms Fabulosa❤ I agree after my 1st bought ever of depression 😬 "situational depression" is what I call it. I gained weight! So I changed my situation, and went back to eating real food, whole food! I have never been a believer of fad diets I believe in real food no modified non fat, sugar free etc. I dont add sugar to anything I will use honey In my tea etc but was never a soda or funky fake creamer gal. i only use olive oil or coconut or avocado oil once in awhile. it's all very simple and basic common sense. Some people just want to follow the $$fads$$ I have a question for you... I'm currently building a square top (similar to teardrop) trailer and Iove what you did with the fabric on your walls! my question is how easy can you clean them, brush off dust etc. I share my space with my Pug, and she sheds so i need something that I can clean? Your thoughts?

hello Janette! sounds like you have a food plan that works great for you!! YAY!!! I did buy scotchguard spray to coat them with a protective coating but I forgot to use it!! LOL so right now, nothing is protecting them but I have hardly used the van so there hasn't been a chance for them to get dirty or the need to clean them. I ordered this: amzn.to/3MUvzIX, as I think that would protect them well. not sure if spraying them now that they are installed will just make a mess of everything around it. oh well!!!
