Had this album as a young man and I'm so pleased to hear it again. This is not even the best track (the fanfares, ect) and its magnificent. A sleeper, no one knows about this album. Thanks for posting.

Thanks for posting this. I had the record they put out after the Olympics in 1976 with this wonderful music. This is the most memorable music for me from any Olympiad. I have not been able to find a modern disk with this soundtrack on it. Too bad.

I used to have the album and played it until the vinyl was all but worn. I can't find it. I would love to hear a remastered recording and I would love to read the liner notes. The music gave shape and structure to the '76 Olympics as much as any of the athletic contests.

Odd that the original album lists Mathieu as the composer when it is actually more interesting and poetic to see these works as a collaboration through time and without direct communication between two musicians. Clearly the beauty of the music "le petit Mozart du Québec" is extended/recast by the jazzy/bigbandish/and at times pop-funky orchestrations and arrangements of Vogel. These compositions represent the best of a bicultural sensibility: a melancholy francophone and and anglo jazz legend.

The accompanying image reveals something: there was once a day when athletes marched in dressed in "formal" wear (ie: blazers and slacks...and if I'm not mistaken the women on the Canadian team in this image have over the shoulder bags...). It seems so long ago. Well...sad to say...I guess it was...

Do you happen to have the track - Ballet Rock Movement (homage to the athletes)? It was used as a theme to CTV National News, and it was also used on a few American stations (i.e. FOX 40 KTXL in Sacremento, CA)

I had to laugh during Trump's little tirade and threats toward our PM during the NAFTA talks. The American media and especially the right couldn't get their heads around the fact that every Canadian politician whether right or left stated publicly their united support of the Prime Minister. Trump thought he could turn Canadians against the PM. We are ALL Canadians first.
