I would like that to happen but there's one thing David didn't mention and it's their salary. If we get two guy like Nylander and Sarros on our roster, I highly doubt we'll have space for all these defense. Dach will also ask a raise mean while and if he's that 1st liner centerman that David claim, he won't go for a friendly contract like Caufield did.

Unfortunately with this being for 4 or 5 years away, this projected list doesn't really factor in Free Agency or trades. Other than Nylander, every skater is currently in the Habs system. It's unlikely Montreal won't bring in a big name when they are ready to contend, thus moving some of the projected names out. Time will tell, but SICK Podcast! Love it!

I like this guy, he's right in his prediction overall. My prediction is the Habs set a new standard and make a real run in the 25-26 season. You can't underestimate team spirit and hunger. Some guys have a lot to prove. Cheers

i like him but i dont agree with anything after the second line. everybody assumes that a prospect will take those spots. imo beck and ferrel are not nhl type players. and if the habs intend to have them play third line time...imo thats not going to win you anything. they need solid nhl players...idc about prospects if they are not.

The odds of all these players and only these players being part of the line up is so low that he's going to be able to plead "Well, I only said they'd win with that specific line up" What if Nylander doesn't sign with the Habs? What if we finish pretty low again and manage to sign a young incredible talent? what if...?

Guy isn’t doing his homework. Jan Mysak barely played in Laval last year.He will probably in Europe in 2 yrs. Luke Tuch is more likely to be an Ahler than an nhler.

Ayoye. There are a lot of holes in this. That roster doesn't even look like a playoff team, let alone a Stanley Cup contender. There's two real questions to ask: 1- Where is the elite talent? 2- Where will they get the elite talent missing? In those projected roster, there isn't a #1 center (Spare me with the "Dach is a #1, 70 point center" non-sense). There isn't a #1 d-man. There probably isn't a #1 goalie, but who knows.

I still don’t see it. Saying they WILL be a contender in 3 years is bold. This statement depends on MANY players taking major strides in the next few seasons. Dach / Suzuki or Suzuki / Dach being the #1 and #2 C’s is far from being solidified. Slaf will have to show some major development in the next season or 2 (I Personally think his ceiling is a Nichushkin, which wouldn’t be terrible but I hope im proved wrong) I love Reinbacher and I think he will be one of the major pieces for a potential run. I like Mailloux too, but his game still has some concerning holes so insinuating he’s a lock for the #1 right side pair is bonkers right now. Goaltending is very much up in the air, but that isn’t such a big issue in all honesty (enter Adin Hill) Even that projected forward core insinuates that essentially the complete bottom 6 will all pan out to the NHLers. Anywho, I love the direction of the new management and of course I want all this to come to fruition, but saying we’re going to be contending in x amount of years with a roster comprised of 40% of players who haven’t even played in the league yet is crazy. I get these are just projections but still. If you look at some of the prospects / young players on teams in our division like BUF, DET or OTT they all have players that are much better than our best players per position (Stutzle, tkachuk , Thompson, Cozens, Dahlin, Seider etc) Love the habs to death but I’ll believe it when I see it!

Montreal should have tanked for the last draft...Indeed, they would have gotten that genuine 1C they have been needing for years. Instead, they ended up with Reinbacher...a very good second pairing defenseman who will likely end up in the near futur on the first pair in Montreal...like Suzuki playing 1C when in fact he should be a genuine 2C. It has been like that for years in Montreal...remember Desharnais, Plekanec, even Danault as 1C's for a few years !!! For Montreal to become a genuine cup contender, most players/prospects they actually possess will have to be much better than expectations since they have no elite talent onboard !!!

Contenders by then, yes. Cup favourites? As long as the goaltending situation is up in the air its hard to make that kind of call. As far as his whole 'u need a big center to win a cup' ummm nope Mackinnon, Point, Oreilley...there literally hasnt been a team with a 'big' center to win a cup since 2015 with Toews. I think what should be said is that you cannot win a cup without an ELITE center, that makes more sense.

As an example, I predicted in March 22 that Russia would lose its completely unjustified war on Ukraine. And your statement is goofy. The Leafs haven’t won the Stanley Cup in 56 years. Does that mean they won’t contend for the Cup this year?

Hughs approach of rehabbing 1st round draft busts and drafting "most NHL ready players" instead of most talented shows this organization does not have the desire to complete a proper rebuild..this a recipe for perpetual mediocrity I doubt we will see another cup in our lifetime
